France is the new cauldron of Eurosceptic revolution

Britain is marginal to the great debate on Europe. France is the linchpin, fast becoming a cauldron of Eurosceptic/Poujadist views on the Right, anti-EMU reflationary Keynesian views on the Left, mixed with soul-searching over the wisdom of monetary union across the French establishment.

Marine Le Pen’s Front National leads the latest IFOP poll for the European elections next month at 24pc. Her platform calls for immediate steps to ditch the euro and restore the franc (“franc des Anglais” in origin, rid of the English oppressors), and to hold a referendum on withdrawal from the EU.

French parliament bans genetically modified maize

France’s lower house of parliament passed a law Tuesday prohibiting genetically modified (GM) maize from being grown, citing environmental concerns. The law can be applied to any GM strain that is adopted at EU level.

The law follows a decree last month, which halted the planting of Monsanto’s insect-resistant maize MON810, which will be allowed for cultivation in the EU, Reuters reported.

But if any strain of GM crop is adopted in the future at EU level – including Pioneer 1507, which was developed by DuPont and Dow Chemical – it will be subsequently banned in France.

French spy ship FS Dupuy de Lôme with COMINT/ELINT equipment Passed Through Turkish Straits

On 14 April 2014 we expect the destroyer FS Dupleix to pass through the Turkish Straits.

But by far the intelligence gathering ship FS Dupuy de Lôme will be the most controversial one. She is fitted with COMINT and ELINT equipment. Her helicopter pad might be used to launch and recover unmanned air vehicles which can carry additional intelligence gathering sensors. According to Jane’s Fighting Ship, the ship is available for 350 days a year and active for 240 days.

May be France is better in making strategic communication at a level that can be correctly interpreted by Russians by sending two spy ships to the back yard of the Russians.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Such a move will not ratchet down tensions in the region, and are nearly guaranteed to escalate them.

President Vladimir Putin’s letter to leaders of European countries

Western media’s relentless demonizing of President Putin is backfiring. President Putin’s approval ratings hits a three year high and have risen to 88% (The Independent and BBC reported) in the past week, as Russians back their president over Ukraine, a height western leaders can only dream of.

“It goes without saying that Russia is prepared to participate in the effort to stabilize and restore Ukraine’s economy, however, not in a unilateral way, but on equal conditions with our European partners.” writes President Putin.

Topics discussed include the following:
1. The Ukraine turmoil and Russia and China's coordinated Financial and Commercial Response to the threats of the West led by the US
2. Though most of the Non-Western world is backing Russia, there are 3 countries in particular that will play a key supporting role in this new 'cold war', and at least two of these have been strong allies of the US in recent times.
3. Jim gives his insight into what he sees happening to US treasuries and the US dollar, and the Petrodollar in the short and long term.
4. Jim forecasts a 'Split' dollar, a domestic dollar, let's call it the Republic dollar, and dollars held outside the US will become 'International' dollars.
5. The pressures that Jim sees placed upon the Domestic dollar and it's near instantaneous 33% devaluation (to start.)
6. The coming BARTER System for settlement of international trade, reducing the US dollar to the dustbin of history.

Look at the World from Behind the Wall: Part Two

Today, almost to the month, Obama is faced with the reality he did not wish to face: Israel has had and does not have any desire to create a Palestinian State, indeed it mocks the very concept and belittles the efforts of Obama and Kerry to attempt to establish such a state. That is now blatantly obvious even to a blind person.

What to do? Take advantage of this opportunity thrown in his lap by the Israelis and send the issue back to the United Nations where it began and where it must be resolved. What will this accomplish? It will break the shackles that bind our Congress to a foreign government; it will release the President to give opportunity and authority to the United Nations to deal with this issue without conflict with the United States;

A Century of Deceit: Iraq, the World Wars, Holocaust and Zionist Militarism

While the West bears much shame and responsibility for aiding and abetting the Zionist project and all of its murderous and destructive consequences, bringing history into accordance with the facts is one way to uplift the Palestinians whose struggle for freedom and justice goes on.

Some studies estimate that close to 1.5 million Iraqis have lost their lives as a result of the brutal American invasion and occupation of their country in 2003.[1] Millions more Iraqis have become refugees and orphans. American depleted uranium weapons have caused cancer rates in some Iraqi cities to skyrocket, permanently destroying the genes of future generations of Iraqis who are being born with horrific birth defects and diseases.

The Monster on the Hill

If Adelson could dictate our future, it would spell disaster for our country. INDEED, IF anyone had any illusions about American politics, they were dispelled this week.

The casino mogul, Sheldon Adelson, organized a public display of his power. He summoned to his Las Vegas betting paradise the four most probable Republican candidates for the next presidential elections, in order to choose one of them. All the invitees heeded the summons, of course.

It was a shameless exhibition. The politicians groveled before the casino lord. Mighty governors of important states did their best to sell themselves like applicants at a job interview. Each of them tried to trump the others in promising to do the Mogul’s bidding.

Second, the centers are created in order to prepare and adopt the major political decisions in the shade, far from public. Cheney endorses Israeli strike on Iran at GOP gathering

Former U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney voiced his support for an Israeli strike on Iran's nuclear facilities over the weekend, during his closed-door keynote address at the Republican Jewish Coalition's annual spring meeting.

The gathering, attended by several possible Republican presidential candidates, including former Governor Jeb Bush and Governors Chris Christie, Scott Walker and John Kasich, was held at the Venetian hotel in Las Vegas, owned by casino magnate Sheldon Adelson.

In his speech, Cheney ridiculed U.S. President Barack Obama's foreign policy and dismissed ongoing negotiations between the P5+1 nations and Tehran over Iran's nuclear program.

Webmaster's Commentary:

That this torture-embracing man, with so much blood on his hands from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, should even be listened to, and taken seriously, by his fellow and sister Republicans is enough to make me wretch.

Any war-gaming of an Israeli strike against Iran indicates that although they may be able to start a war, they absolutely cannot finish it on their own without US military help, and a lot of it.

The Israeli casualties will be enormous, and Hezbullah will surely attack from the north, very intensely.

On top of which, any attack against Iran by Israel will mean that one of the longest-practicing Jewish communities on the planet, that of Iran, will also get shot up badly in the process.

Any attack against Iran by the US will be considered as an act of war against it by Russia. And I would like to politely point out to Mr. Cheney and the rest of his happy warmongers, that at this point in its history, the US military doesn't have the troop strength, the money, or the manufacturing to insure a positive outcome to a conventional war against Russia: and that is what makes the military scenario so scarily dangerous.

Mr. Cheney has never served in combat; that it why it is so easy for him and his ilk to prescribe war as the only possible solution to any geopolitical issues, rather than attempt to resolve them with good faith negotiations.

As a 64 year old woman who saw the conditions in which some of my college classmates came back from Viet Nam - or didn't come back all the way, due to PTSD - I would be very happy to tell anyone willing to listen that there is almost always another way to resolve issues rather than war.

In fact, the older I get, the more viscerally Quaker I become on the issue of war.

“BDS is irrelevant.” Oh, really?

Rosenberg gives himself a hard time worrying that there would be no more Israel if Israelis had to obey international law and UN resolutions, and return the lands and resources they stole from the Palestinians. It's “an actual country”, he maintains. But I bet he cannot tell us its actual borders.

A quick trip to the BDS movement's website http://www.bdsmovement.net/call will expose Rosenberg's attempt to mislead.

What maddens Zionists most is that they cannot control civil society like they can pull the strings of the spineless political élite. They fear BDS action (Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions) will derail their precious project for a Greater Israel. So they now sneer at civil society and try to discourage further BDS efforts. This tactic comes across loud and clear in Michael Rosenberg's article 'The Goal Of The BDS Movement Is Dismantling Israel, Not The ’67 Occupation'.

In Defense of Helen Thomas: What’s Wrong With History?

Helen Thomas’s recent request to purchase a table at the upcoming White House Correspondents Association (WHCA) annual dinner has been rejected.

In a comment on that story I said, “It’s hard to imagine anything more wrong than this.”

I base my opinion on the fact that the 91-year-old Thomas, a former WHCA president, is unique among American journalists, having covered 10 different presidential administrations in a career stretching back to Dwight Eisenhower.

It is because of Thomas as much as anyone else that women were first included at the WHCA dinner since, as the WHCA’s website mentions:
