The Devil in the Details–Netanyahu’s 100 Year War against ‘militant’ Islam as the death blow to Western Civilization

Just as the profile of some infamous crime lord is incomplete without including background scenery such as money laundering, prostitution, drugs, bribery, murder, etc, likewise an accurate accounting of Benjamin Netanyahu remains informationally anemic without mentioning his abnormal appetite for state-sponsored mass-murder, otherwise known as war. Simply stated, take this aspect out of any discussion featuring Netanyahu and there is nothing left to discuss...For ‘Bibi’–the latest incarnation in a long line of King David wannabes–war is his beating heart, (if he has one) his lifeblood (if he has any) and the electrical current that powers his mental functions, if indeed any exist.

THE ANTI SEMITE WHO WASN’T

It has been widely reported that Leonard Petlakh was the victim of an anti-Semitic attack at a pre-season basketball game between the New York Nets and Tel Aviv’s Maccabi Electra.

The alleged attack has received extensive coverage and condemnation. However, new information has emerged that Petlakh may have been involved in a physical assault on a Palestinian-American woman shortly before he claims to have been victimized.

EARLY LESSONS ISRAEL LEARNT FROM THE NAZIS

The internment of Japanese Americans during World War II scarred American history for years to come.

Now, a new research paper argues that Palestinians share a similar traumatic experience. Pointing to a barely discussed chapter in the history of Israel’s 1948 War of Independence, the paper highlights a time when the fledgling Jewish state interned more than 6,000 Palestinian citizens without charge in camps across the country.

One can show their appreciation to these sites by visiting them frequently and even better, by contributing financially to them. Their continued existence depends on your support.

Republicans threaten showdown over UN funding in Gaza

In a letter to Kerry, Sens. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., and Mark Kirk, R-Ill., said they were “dumbfounded” by the State Department pledge announced Oct. 12 as part of the Cairo donor conference to rebuild Gaza. The United States is UNRWA’s largest bilateral donor.

“This blind support sends the wrong message to an institution that has already become far too dependent on the largesse of the American taxpayer and repeatedly failed to ensure that its facilities and resources are not used by terrorists who wish to sow chaos and instability rather than aid the Palestinian people,” they wrote.

Israeli Settlers Burn 100 Olive Trees near Nablus, Multiple Abductions in Gaza, West Bank

WAFA correspondence reports that a number of settlers from the illegal Israeli settlement of ‘Yitzhar’ set fire to around 100 olive trees belonging to the Khamoos and Salim families, said Douglas, who is in charge of the settlements file at the Palestinian Authority, in the northern part of the West Bank.

Confrontations reportedly erupted between settlers and land owners who were harvesting their olive trees at the time; no injuries were reported.

Settlers target Palestinians each year during the olive harvesting season, either by destroying their cops, attacking farmers or by preventing them from accessing their land.

Such attacks are aimed at further disenfranchising and disposessing Palestinians from their land, in order to make way for increasing illegal settlement expansion.

Proto-Nazism on Exhibition

Israel’s policies and actions toward the Palestinians has been a principal incitement of international terrorism. To say that, does not excuse the latter, but does help to explain it. Had Israel chosen a different path from its founding (Arno Mayer’s Ploughshares into Swords records in detail the events of 1945-48 demonstrating the Zionist paradigm of ethnic cleansing of the indigenous Arab population, with few dissenting voices, such as Martin Buber and Judah Magnes), one can speculate that the historical outcome would have been a different spirit and structure of the Middle East, far more promoting of Jewish security certainly than in the present.

Israeli minister airs Iran nuclear concerns at Pentagon

Israeli Defence Minister Moshe Yaalon said on Tuesday he shared with his US counterpart his country’s concerns about the direction of talks between world powers and Iran on its nuclear programme.

In an audio message released by Yaalon’s office after his meeting with Chuck Hagel at the Pentagon, Yaalon said they also talked about the conflicts in Iraq and Syria and the US-Israel defence partnership.

“The Iranian issue indeed worries us,” he said in Hebrew. “The question of if there will be an agreement and what kind of agreement worries us. I’m talking about that here and behind closed doors we express our concerns.”

Expert-level talks between Iran and world powers are to be held in Vienna on Wednesday and Thursday, according to an Iranian official.

Iran and the P5+1 group of nations — Britain, China, France, Russia and the United States plus Germany — are seeking a comprehensive agreement over Tehran’s nuclear programme by a November 24 deadline.

Is It Haskalah Or Culture Of Deceit?

The new play by Bernard-Henri Levy, "Hotel Europe," that opened in Paris in September, was scheduled to run until January but will close in November due to a lack of people willing to play audience. BHL induced Sarkozy, Hollande and Valls to promote his play but apparently that didn’t help its reception.

A Swiss comedian, Matthieu Béguelin, commented on Hotel Europe’s aborted run by saying: "La pièce de BHL fait un four." In theatrical vocabulary, the expression means that BHL’s play was a flop. As you probably know, the French word "four" means "oven" and the media were quick to react with commentary that BHL is Jewish and ‘oven’ can evoke the Nazi crematoriums. The comedian replied amongst other things that he was amused that nobody who talked about the walloping of BHL had dared to use the same common expression.

L.A. Hotel to Host Anti-Israel Confab

The L.A. Westin Bonaventure will host in November a conference organized by the American Studies Association (ASA), a controversial nationwide academic group that is known as one of the largest champions of the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS), which seeks to isolate Israel and its citizens.

Emmanuel Eisenberg explains his right to disregard international law and destroy private property

The Israeli Antiquity Authority (IAA) continues to expropriate Palestinian land in Hebron, on the Tel Rumeida hillside. On Sunday 18 May 2014, the IAA workforce, under the instruction of project coordinator Emmanuel Eisenberg, continued to cause structural damaged to the Abu Haikel land, deploying questionable and illegal archeological practices, while at the same time utilizing the Al Jobeh family’s land without the family’s consent.

The excavations are illegal under Israeli law, according to the Oslo Agreement, which Israel signed in the mid-90s— a process jointly agreed upon by Israel and Palestine as a vehicle to peace and stability. Article 2 of the Israeli-Palestinian Interim Agreement describes in detail how Israeli and Palestinians would jointly administer archeological projects in Palestinian territory. The IAA has not abided by this agreement in Tel Rumeida.

Anti-gay Christian group threatens to sue hotel for hosting scholars who endorse Israel boycott

The American Center for Law and Justice, a Christian, right-wing legal organization, has written to a Los Angeles hotel warning it against hosting the American Studies Association’s annual meeting next month.

The letter, addressed to the general manager of the Westin Bonaventure Hotel & Suites, argues that by passing a resolution in support of the boycott of Israeli academic institutions, the American Studies Association (ASA) will practice “unlawful discrimination” over who is permitted to attend the meeting, scheduled to take place 4-9 November.

Nuclear Deal with Iran 95% Complete

I'm guardedly optimistic about the negotiations. They are probably about 95 percent done. The 5 percent that remains has quite a bit that might be difficult in it, I will admit that. The three principal parts of it that are going to be difficult are the number of centrifuges that Iran will be allowed to keep and operate. Second, what exactly does lifting sanctions mean? Of course, this is the Iranian perspective. And then, lastly, how long will this last? Will it last five years, ten years, 15, or 20?

Christian Evangelicals' mass aliyah push touches Jewish nerve

It was the early Jewish nationalist Nathan Birnbaum who coined the term “Zionism” in 1890 to describe the movement to establish a secular Jewish state in Palestine. The idea’s essence was defined in the very name of the journal he published to advance the cause: “Self-Emancipation!”

What Is Wrong With Gareth Porter - An Interview

The Buzzfeed article is a very sad piece. It conveys an image of a weak human being desperate to save his reputation. In order to do so he tries every trick he knows. Sadly, he achieves the opposite. In his attempt to smear Mark Glenn, the man behind The Ugly Truth Radio Network, Porter quotes Glenn out of context. He fails to comply with even the minimum journalistic standard of fairness and provide a URL reference for his quotation. One would expect this from Dershowitz, but not from a ‘progressive dissident’.

The crucial question not answered by his article, is who is Porter trying to appease? Why does he defame Mark Glenn who didn’t even attend the conference? Is it possible that veteran progressive journalist Porter is breaching every journalist ethic just to convey the image that he is committed to Jewish primary interests?

A very similar charge was made by Matti Friedman, a former AP reporter in Jerusalem, who accused international media, including American outlets, of anti-Semitism for the way they told the story of the Gaza onslaught, as being Israel’s fault, when the real story was that Israel was taking on Hamas just as the US is taking on ISIS. At On the Media (minute 5):

What we’re seeing is extremely critical coverage of the actions of the Israeli government, and I would argue that this [alleged media] interest in the holy land– I think that there’s a very thin line between that and development of a hostile obsession with the moral failings of Jews, which as we know is a very deep thought pattern in the west.

Gaza and the Bipartisan War on Human Rights

Israel’s seven weeks of attacks this summer on heavily populated civilian neighborhoods in Gaza has led to unprecedented concern among Americans who, while still broadly supportive of Israel, found the attacks to be disproportionate and unnecessary.

Close to 1,500 Palestinian civilians in Gaza were killed in the Israeli attacks – more of 500 of whom were children – and 18,000 homes were destroyed, leaving over 100,000 people homeless. Despite this devastating civilian toll, leading Democrats in Washington have joined Republicans in claiming that Israel’s actions were legitimate acts of self-defense against military targets, dismissing reports by reputable Israeli and international human rights groups saying otherwise.

IN ISRAEL, THE THEME IS ‘ACCEPTANCE OF THE OTHER’ … UNLESS THEY ARE SEPHARDIC JEWS

But lo and behold, the most prestigious academic body in Israel, the Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities, organizes a conference about the other which is characterized mainly by an exclusion of the other.

It’s not just about the ethnic origin issue. It’s possible that a very small minority of the participants are of Sephardic decent. The problem is also about opinion and outlook and a school of thought.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The hostility of the Ashkanzi to the Sephardic may lie partly in the fact that the Sephardic are actually descended from the Biblical Hewbrews, whereas the Ashkanzi are the descendants of coverted central Asian Khazars.

Israeli society sick with violence – country’s president

Israel is suffering from an epidemic of violence that must be treated, the country’s President Reuven Rivlin said. After the latest bloody conflict in Gaza, Jews and Arabs seem to have lost the capacity for dialogue, as relations have reached a new low.

“It is time to honestly admit that Israeli society is sick – and it is our duty to treat this disease,” Rivlin told the Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities at a xenophobia conference on Sunday in Jerusalem.

“The tension between Jews and Arabs within the State of Israel has risen to record heights, and the relationship between all parties has reached a new low,” he said, as cited by the Jewish Telegraphic Agency.

UNCANNY PARALLELS IN CHARACTER

I don’t know whether anyone else has noticed the fact that Benjamin Netanyahu and Adolph Hitler share uncomfortably similar personality and character traits. Certainly there are, and have been, other politicians who also share the same traits, but it is of particular concern today that a man of this nature dominates events in the Middle East. In the case of Hitler we can read about his personality and character in any of a number of scholarly biographies and histories of World War II. In the case of Netanyahu, we can see them displayed on the world stage despite an immense amount effort by public relations flaks and apologists to airbrush them. We have also, something we do not always have for contemporaries, the first-hand testimony of several world figures about key aspects of his behavior to which we wouldn’t otherwise be exposed.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Certainly Netanyahu's "Fist of iron" comment regarding opposition to building Jewish settlements on Palestinian land reveals his true nature.

Israeli soldiers worse than ISIL terrorists: Israeli MP

Perry’s Priorities: Photo-Op at Auschwitz More Important Than Combating Ebola Outbreak in Texas

Whereas a visit to Jerusalem’s Wailing Wall may evoke some religious sympathies, a visit to the infamous Auschwitz I camp, with the often depicted words “ARBEIT MACHT FREI” at the gate, will likely trigger more powerful emotions. So that was the plan. The photos of Perry posing before the gate would be available to be released at the most opportune time during campaign season. However, at least one image did leak out into the public domain prematurely. (Note that the proper way to visit the Auschwitz I camp, which the holocaust industry propagandists have declared a “holy” site, appears to entail keeping both hands in your pockets, unless you have to hold an umbrella with the other one.)

Israel is losing its friends in the world

Israel has lost its international audience. When Netanyahu warns about the nuclear threat from Iran, even those who worry deeply about Tehran’s intentions respond with a weary shrug. The warnings are seen as a diversion — an effort to distract from his refusal to accept a Palestinian state rather than a clear-headed assessment of a present danger. This cannot be good for Israel.

Such was the backdrop to last week’s vote in the House of Commons. The occasion added lustre to the reputation of the politicians — something too rare these days. The hyperbole and rancour of everyday partisanship made way for reasoned argument. Israel had lobbied hard against the motion. It was soon obvious it had lost its best friends.

These comparisons are so thick-headed, so tin-eared, so ham-fisted, that they nearly defy imagination.

History of Key Document in IAEA Probe Suggests Israeli Forgery

Western diplomats have reportedly faulted Iran in recent weeks for failing to provide the International Atomic Energy Agency with information on experiments on high explosives intended to produce a nuclear weapon, according to an intelligence document the IAEA is investigating.

But the document not only remains unverified but can only be linked to Iran by a far-fetched official account marked by a series of coincidences related to a foreign scientist that that are highly suspicious.

The original appearance of the document in early 2008, moreover, was not only conveniently timed to support Israel’s attack on a U.S. National Intelligence Estimate on Iran in December that was damaging to Israeli interests, but was leaked to the news media with a message that coincided with the current Israeli argument.

The IAEA has long touted the document, which came from an unidentified member state, as key evidence justifying suspicion that Iran has covered up past nuclear weapons work.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Israel's ambitions regarding Iran are to have the US attack it, and create regime change here.

But there is one slight, minor problem here (other that the moral reality that Iran has not given the US the slightest reason to attack): if the US attacks Iran, Russia may very well come to its aid militarily.

Russia and Iran are already doing joint military drills, as reported by AP:

Iran's state television says two Russian warships have left a northern Iranian port after the two countries held a joint, three-day naval exercise in the Caspian Sea. Thursday's report on the TV's website quoted Iranian Adm. Afshin Rezaei Haddad, who is Iran's navy commander in the Caspian Sea, as saying that the Russian vessels departed from the northern Iranian port of Anzali on Wednesday.

Leaders in Russian military and civilian leadership have made comments to the effect that any attack against Iran will be viewed as an attack against Russia's national interests.

And the US military cannot possibly insure a positive outcome to a military attack against Russia because it does not have the money, troop strength, or manufacturing to guarantee such an outcome; and that is what makes the military scenario so scarily dangerous.

‘Shot in the heart’: Israeli army kills 13yo Palestinian boy

A Palestinian boy was shot in the chest point-blank and later died amid a confrontation between Israeli forces and stone-throwing youths in a village of the occupied West Bank, according to local media and medical sources.

Bahaa Badr, 13, was fatally shot by the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) as the troops made their way to Beit Liqya village in the West Bank, located near the border with Israel, Reuters reported citing medical sources and local residents.

Badr was shot from a close range into the heart area and died shortly after the impact, Palestinian Ma’an news agency quoted another source as saying.

Upon entering the village, Israeli troops were met by Palestinian protesters who began throwing stones at them. It is still unclear whether the boy took part in the protest.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The extermination of Palestinian kids continues, unabated, with absolutely no checks and balances on the part of the IDF to prevent this from happening.

OF course, the IDF's favorite targets are pregnant Palestinian women. As reported today in presstv.com:

While they enjoy slaughtering children and their mothers, Israelis take special relish in killing pregnant women. A T-shirt popular in the Israeli army shows a pregnant woman with a target on her belly. The legend reads: “One shot two kills.” Killing children is the de facto official policy of the Israeli military. In his article “Gaza Diary,” Chris Hedges wrote about watching Israeli soldiers hunt Palestinian children for sport: “Yesterday at this spot the Israelis shot eight young men, six of whom were under the age of eighteen. One was twelve. This afternoon they kill an eleven-year-old boy, Ali Murad, and seriously wound four more, three of whom are under eighteen. Children have been shot in other conflicts I have covered—death squads gunned them down in El Salvador and Guatemala, mothers with infants were lined up and massacred in Algeria, and Serb snipers put children in their sights and watched them crumple onto the pavement in Sarajevo—but I have never before watched soldiers entice children like mice into a trap and murder them for sport.” An October 2004 study by British Medical Journal confirmed that this is a common practice, and never punished: “Two thirds of the 621 children (two thirds under 15 years) killed at checkpoints, in the street, on the way to school, in their homes, died from small arms fire, directed in over half of cases to the head, neck and chest – the sniper’s wound…Clearly, soldiers are routinely authorised to shoot to kill children in situations of minimal or no threat.”

International Community Promises to Rebuild Gaza ... with Sweat Shops to Exploit Palestinian Workers

When Israel’s international janitorial crew gathered this week in Cairo with a pledge to raise $5 billion to help rebuild the $8 billion in damage Israel caused to Gaza’s civilian population, it was assured by Israeli Minister of Transportation Yisrael Katz that its efforts were utterly futile. "The Gazans must decide what they want to be Singapore or Darfur,” Katz remarked, leveling the threat of genocide against the fantasy of economic prosperity. "They can pick between economic recovery and war and destruction. If they choose terror, the world should not waste its money. If one missile will be fired, everything will go down the drain."

The message was not lost on the diplomats assembled in Cairo. As one told AFP, ”We have seen infrastructure projects that we have contributed to which have been destroyed.” The diplomat complained that the sustained Israeli assaults on Gaza’s infrastructure had prompted “considerable donor fatigue.”

Olive trees burned as anti-Palestinian incitement grips Galilee

Osama Tannous has long campaigned for the municipal independence of Tarshiha, his hometown in the Galilee region of present-day Israel.

For decades, Tarshiha has been administratively connected to the neighboring Jewish-Israeli community of Maalot and the two share a municipality.

On all government records, paperwork and tax documents, the two have, since 1963, been classified as the town of Maalot Tarshiha. Yet the communities are geographically separated and local Palestinians have been campaigning for independent representation and municipal sovereignty for decades.

California Hotel Warned Anti-Israel Summit May Be Illegal

On Monday, the American Center for Law & Justice (ACLJ) sent a letter to the Westin Bonaventure hotel in Downtown Los Angeles calling upon it to "ban unlawful discrimination" on its property. The letter warns that hosting the annual meeting of the American Studies Association (ASA), which recently voted to boycott Israeli academics, would place the hotel in violation of California law because it would make them party to discrimination on the basis of national origin, race and religion.

Because the boycott is specific to Israelis, the majority of whom are Jewish, the authors of the letter argue, the meeting is antisemitic in nature.

Exodus campaign to Berlin sparks outrage in Israel

A group of young Israeli expats have unleashed controversy back home by encouraging others to join them in Berlin, touching on two of the most sensitive issues in Israel: the country's high cost of living and Jews' tortured history with Germany.

While Israelis have been angered after learning that food prices are much lower in Germany, they are also outraged that the youngsters' form of protest has been to give up on the Zionist dream by leaving the Jewish state, and relocate to the birthplace of the Nazi Party to boot. It rankles many in a society that once considered emigration shamefully akin to treason, at a time when many Israelis want to stick together after a brutal summer war in Gaza underscored greater political and security woes in Israel.

Gaza and the West Bank: Israel’s two approaches and Palestinians’ two bleak choices

The areas now known as the West Bank and Gaza, despite geographic differences, were once similar in social, cultural and economic terms. But through a long process of one occupation after another, they were set apart and differentiated.

Israel’s recent incursion in Gaza follows a pattern of harsher policies of suppression, compared to its counterpart to the East, after the two territories were created in 1948.

In the last days of ‘Operation Protective Edge’ Israel focused on its final goal — the destruction of Gaza’s professional class

The bombing of these buildings was the finale of Israel’s mass destruction of the Gaza Strip, flattening landmark towers that provided essential social and economic functions, and which stood as symbols of the besieged coastal strip’s beleaguered professional class. While the war began with the flattening of the areas the Israeli military considers Gaza’s “hard shell” — border areas like Shujaiya and Khuza’a — it ended with a brazen assault on its soft core. The targeting of the professional class, a key pillar of Palestinian society generally considered unsympathetic to the political goals of Hamas, was a new front of economic and social warfare on Gaza.

The Board of Deputies of British Jews said that part of Sir Alan’s argument – that US thinking on the issue of settlements as being dominated by “a very powerful financial lobby” – was anti-semitic.

British Parliament sends a message to Obama: the people see Israel as a ‘bully’

Yesterday the British Parliament voted overwhelmingly (274-12) to recognize a Palestinian state, and if you listened to the debate, one theme above all else explains the crushing victory: The British public has been horrified by Gaza and its opinion of Israel has shifted. Even Conservative members of Parliament cited pressure from the public. As Labour’s Andy Slaughter said, Britain has witnessed a new “barbarism”:

I think that the British people have been on the same sort of the journey as the right hon. Member for Croydon South [Conservative Sir Richard Ottaway] described—it is certainly true of the Labour movement—from being very sympathetic to Israel as a country that was trying to achieve democracy and was embattled, to seeing it now as a bully and a regional superpower. That is not something I say with any pleasure, but since the triumph of military Zionism and the Likud-run Governments we have seen a new barbarism in that country.

Ambassador warns: Israel losing support in UK because of settlement building and Gaza offensive

British newspaper The Independent reported that Britain’s ambassador to Israel has warned that the Jewish state is losing support in the UK, blaming the summer offensive in Gaza and increased settlement construction in the Occupied West Bank. His remarks came as a former Conservative minister described the situation in one Palestinian city as “apartheid”.

The ambassador, Matthew Gould, issued the warning hours after MPs backed a motion to recognise the state of Palestine, albeit in a non-binding vote. Speaking to Israel Radio, the ambassador said the vote in the Commons showed that public sentiment was moving away from Israel.

Forbidden Liberty: British MP’s Vote ‘Yes’ to Palestine, Israel Now Fears Public Opinion

There was never any ‘roadmap to peace’ as ringleaders in Washington would have you believe. That’s why nothing has happened in 30 years since “peace negotiations” started. Israel made sure it went no where by insisting that Palestinian statehood, or any other form of liberation from occupation or apartheid would come about only as from negotiations with the Israel. Meanwhile, Israel stayed busy building its Berlin walls and increasing its manifest destiny condo communities to gerrymander its own conveniently undeclared borders.

The formula is simple: Israel gets bigger, while Palestine gets smaller. While they’re add it, they might as well demolish some 30,000 Palestinian homes and kill a few thousand women and children. Not too difficult to see when you take off those cheap AIPAC-issued 3-D glasses.

The UN secretary general, Ban Ki-moon, described the destruction in Gaza from the recent conflict with Israel as “beyond description” and a source of “shame to the international community” as he visited the war-devastated coastal strip on Tuesday.

Urging a speedy reconstruction effort, he announced that Israel was permitting the first truckloads of construction materials to enter the coastal strip, which has been blockaded by Israel and Egypt since before the conflict.

“I am here with a heavy heart,” Ban told a press conference. “The destruction which I have seen coming here is beyond description,” he added.

Ban said the damage was far worse than what he had seen after the previous conflict – Operation Cast Lead – that took place in 2008-09.

Mystery surrounds letters praising Holocaust denial video

A Holocaust denial video that suggested Jews were not exterminated by gas chambers at the Nazi Auschwitz concentration camp mysteriously received flattering praise in letters from the offices of one U.S. representative, a Maine state representative and a high-ranking policy adviser to the president of Hungary who now works for NATO.

A fourth letter from a U.S. representative acknowledged receiving the video, but only described it as “informative,” and returned the video to the sender.

The Washington Times reached three of the four individuals whose offices sent out the flattering responses, and, in all three cases, officials denied having actually watched the video and offered apologies.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Well, that's politicians for you. But despite the obvious bias of "How could you praise that documentary" in the Washington Times, the video is very good, worth watching, and presents a strong case that the real events of Nazi Germany were greatly exaggerated to create political support for the creation of the state of Israel.

Anger grows within Labour over forced Palestinian vote

Earlier this week, party managers instructed Labour shadow ministers that they had to vote in favour of a historic parliamentary motion on Monday that would call on the British Government to unilaterally recognise the state of Palestine.

But the move has resulted in a furious backlash from pro-Israeli members of the party who believe that Labour should recognise Palestine only as part of a wide Middle East peace settlement.

It also led to an unprecedented letter to MPs from Labour’s sister party in Israel warning that any vote in favour of recognition would make peace less rather than more likely.

Several shadow ministers are understood to have gone to see Mr Miliband in an effort to persuade him to change his mind and offer Labour MPs a free vote on the motion – which is being proposed by the backbench MP Grahame Morris.

A Lebanese media report initially said a joint investigation by the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon and the Lebanese army had found that Israel had fired cluster bombs into Lebanon. The Israeli artillery fire caused damage to 10 sites in Kfar Chouba and the Shebaa Farms region, Lebanese news source The Daily Star reported, citing unnamed security sources.

Remembering Mike Wallace, A Jew Unafraid of the Truth

Several months later, in July 1991, an independent government commission headed by Israeli Judge Ezra Kama concluded that, indeed, the Palestinian deaths were the result not of a nefarious PLO plot, but rather of an Israeli police riot. Despite the resulting 17 deaths, there was no call for anyone to be punished. And none was.

Larry Tisch, a major American backer of Israel who also happened to own CBS, summoned Mike and “60 Minutes” Executive Producer Don Hewitt (also Jewish) to a fraught breakfast meeting to defend our report, fact by fact.

Mike and Don wound up in a shouting match at an A-list dinner party with real estate and publishing mogul Mort Zuckerman, literary agent Morton Janklow and Barbara Walters (who ironically, in a teary TV statement after Mike’s death, said, “There was no journalist like Mike, and I don’t think there will be”).

Palestinians And Israeli Police Clash On Jerusalem's Temple Mount

The clashes erupted after several dozen masked Palestinians began throwing rocks, firecrackers and other pyrotechnical devices at police when the site — known to Jews as the Temple Mount and to Muslims as the Noble Sanctuary — opened for prayers on Wednesday morning, said spokeswoman Luba Samri.

There was no immediate information on whether any Palestinian protesters were hurt.

Police chased the demonstrators toward the Al-Aqsa mosque, where they barricaded themselves inside and continued hurling objects in the direction of the police, said Samri.

Flashback: Mike Wallace Remembered 60 minutes. An outraged Benjamin Netanyahu, then deputy minister of foreign affairs, appeared at a dramatic press conference, exhibiting a huge, lethal-looking boulder in his hands. Reportedly, several Jews had been hospitalized.
