How a Youtube Video Helped a NY Woman Learn To Properly Deal With Rogue Police and Win $1.12 Million

The 'right-wing' woman in New York who was awarded $1.12 million dollars by a jury in a federal civil rights lawsuit for false arrest, has an interesting history which in all probability, helped her lead to victory. I am so happy for Nancy Genovese, as I have had some e-mail exchanges with her over the years and know she is a good sincere person. I wrote a story about Nancy's case in 2009, which appeared on PrisonPlanet.com and I followed it up in 2010 with news of her suit. However, particularly revealing are some 2009 blog posts Nancy made about a contentious encounter she had with a rogue police officer two months prior to the incident outside the military base - and how one 45 minute Youtube video, according to Nancy herself, really taught her how to properly interact with police in these contentious situations- two months before her infamous arrest which made international news.

Police Checkpoints: I'm Not Doing Anything Wrong, But I Definitely Have Something to Worry About

Every year around this time, it just isn't the holiday season if you don't end up stuck in a long line of traffic going through a mandatory DUI checkpoint. The cops are looking for people drinking and driving, and this unconstitutional search has been upheld by the Supreme Court.

And every year around this time, when I say it is a violation of my rights, someone chimes in:

"If you aren't doing anything wrong, you don't have anything to worry about."

It's entirely possible that if I hear this argument one more time this year, I'm going to have something to worry about, because there's going to be the body in my trunk.

Woman awarded $1.12 million after police strip-searched her to 'make example' of gun-owning 'right wingers'

A Long Island, New York, mother of three has been awarded $1.12 million by a federal jury after she was falsely arrested while taking pictures at an Air National Guard base in the Hamptons, with a legally owned AR-15 rifle and ammunition in the trunk of her car.

Nancy Genovese, 58, said she was taking photos for a "Support Our Troops" website when she was detained and arrested by Suffolk County authorities, Britain's The Guardian newspaper reported.

"What they took from this woman cannot be measured in money," prominent Long Island civil rights attorney Frederick Brewington told media, following a decision by a federal jury. "There is no reason to treat another human the way they treated her."

How the CIA Launched the «Financial Pearl Harbor» Attacks on Russia and Venezuela

The net result of the CIA-inspired fracking operations, which the Saudis were warned not to pursue by petroleum engineers working for some foreign-based firms like Schlumberger, is that there will be an oil supply glut for the next 5 years. The glut will be followed by a reduction in Saudi oil production unless new oil fields are brought on line. There is now a major push by U.S. and Canadian oil companies to bring online the Keystone XL pipeline from Canada to the United States to offset the expected sharp rise in oil prices in four to five years. But with Canada suffering financially from the drop in oil revenues, the Keystone XL project is also on financially shaky ground.

Cop charged with choking and beating a HOSPITAL PATIENT - after he tried to claim the victim attacked him but was caught on video

A San Francisco sheriff's deputy allegedly choked and beat a hospital patient who walked with a cane - then lied on the police report to cover his tracks.

Michael Lewelling, 33, was accused of approaching a sleeping man as he started to wake up, knocking away his walking cane, grabbing his neck, then arresting him.

He then filed a police report claiming that the man started the fight by attacking him with the cane, according to authorities, who say surveillance video proves he was lying.

Lewelling, who has reportedly been with the San Francisco Sheriff's Department for five years, was arrested Friday and charged with perjury, filing a false police report and battery.

BT, Sky and Virgin 'hijacking' browsers to push porn blocks

BT, Sky and Virgin Media are hijacking people's web connections to force customers to make a decision about family-friendly web filters. The move comes as the December deadline imposed by prime minister David Cameron looms, with ISPs struggling to get customers to say yes or no to the controversial adult content blocks.

The messages, which vary by ISP, appear during browser sessions when a user tries to access any website. BT, Sky, TalkTalk and Virgin Media are required to ask all their customers if they want web filters turned on or off, with the government saying it wants to create a "family friendly" internet free from pornography, gambling, extreme violence and other content inappropriate for children. But the measures being taken by ISPs have been described as "completely unnecessary" and "heavy handed" by internet rights groups.

The hijacking works by intercepting requests for unencrypted websites and rerouting a user to a different page.

Innocent Man Tasered, Beaten While Naked In the Shower and Framed Later

“While I had my hands up naked in the shower they shot me with a 40 millimeter non-lethal round,” said Chadwick.

A second stun grenade soon followed.

“I turned away, the explosion went off, I opened my eyes the lights are out and here comes a shield with four or five guys behind it. They pinned me against the wall and proceeded to beat the crap out of me,” said Chadwick.

That’s when officers shot the unarmed Chadwick in the back of the head with a Taser at point blank range.

“They claimed I drew down with a shampoo bottle and a body wash bottle,” said Chadwick . . .

“They grabbed me by my the one hand that was out of the shower and grabbed me by my testicles slammed me on my face on the floor and proceeded to beat me more.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

I so lovehow police departments around the country are interpreting the phrase "to protect and serve" these days.

What this man desperately needed was to be very gently taken into custody for a complete psych evaluation. Threatening that he had a shotgun did not help either, but the SWAT team, after thoroughly searching his home, and finding no such gun, should have collectively had the horse sense to realize that this statement was made in a drunken stupor.

People with skills and kids, get the hell out this country while you still can.

For Punitive Populists, “Comply or Die” IS The “Law” William Norman Grigg

snip: The claim that police exist to protect the public is an obvious and easily documented lie: Police officers have no enforceable duty to aid a citizen threatened by actual criminal violence. If something akin to a legitimate role exists for government police it would be to identify criminal suspects and detain them for prosecution when necessary. Nearly everything police do, however, consists of scrutinizing harmless behavior by their betters in the productive class in search of a rationale to intrude in their affairs, confiscate their property, and kill them if they object — which is precisely what was done to micro-entrepreneur Eric Garner on the streets of Staten Island.

Government Criminality: What's the Big Deal? By Scott Lazarowitz

snip: I just can’t imagine anyone with a moral conscience actually inflicting the kinds of sick, deranged and sadistic torment on others as CIA agents have committed.

And I can’t imagine anyone, such as NSA personnel, with any moral conscience actually listening in on people, recording or videotaping them, breaking into their emails of phone calls or their cars or bedrooms without any suspicion, and “digging up some dirt” to use against innocent people including judges and military generals.

But “if you have nothing to hide …” as some judges have asserted, you should be okay with goons watching you and recording your actions. Alas, those who guard themselves against criminal intrusions and attempt to protect their private lives are labeled as “suspicious” in the eyes of the State and its statist defenders, toadies and dupes.

Sadly, “those who resist being inventoried present a problem for the state,” as Wendy McElroy observed.

In other words, it’s technically legal in those 48 states to openly record on-duty police.

Russian Roulette: Taxpayers Could Be on the Hook for Trillions in Oil Derivatives

The sudden dramatic collapse in the price of oil appears to be an act of geopolitical warfare against Russia. The result could be trillions of dollars in oil derivative losses; and the FDIC could be liable, following repeal of key portions of the Dodd-Frank Act last weekend.

Senator Elizabeth Warren charged Citigroup last week with “holding government funding hostage to ram through its government bailout provision.” At issue was a section in the omnibus budget bill repealing the Lincoln Amendment to the Dodd-Frank Act, which protected depositor funds by requiring the largest banks to push out a portion of their derivatives business into non-FDIC-insured subsidiaries.

Warren and Representative Maxine Waters came close to killing the spending bill because of this provision. But the tide turned, according to Waters, when not only Jamie Dimon, CEO of JPMorgan Chase, but President Obama himself lobbied lawmakers to vote for the bill.

Millions in Poverty Get Less Media Coverage than 482 Billionaires

snip: “The notion that the wealthiest nation on Earth has one in every six of its citizens living at or below the poverty threshold reflects not a lack of resources, but a lack of policy focus and attention — and this is due to a lack of public awareness to the issue,” writes Frederick Reese of MintPress News. Contrary to widespread media portrayal, the U.S. has one of the highest poverty rates of major Western nations. In order to increase awareness of poverty within the nation, writes PBS talk show host Tavis Smiley, the media must become an accurate and comprehensive source of information—and not only in reaction to a political agenda. According to Smiley, we must call on the news media to “promote our collective appreciation of the inherent values we all share in alleviating domestic poverty.

Ending the Cold War on Cuba? From the Freezer to the Chiller

If Washington ended its economic aggression against Cuba and others then it might just be a signal of real change. Otherwise it’s just more of the same imperialist policy that is the bedrock of American power.

As US President Barack Obama announced his surprise «historic» bid to normalize relations with Cuba this week, the New York Times swooned with glowing news. ‘US to Restore Full Relations With Cuba, Erasing a Last Trace of Cold War Hostility’ was how its top headline put it. Welcoming the development, the American «newspaper of record» said Obama vowed to «cut loose the shackles of the past» and to «sweep aside one of the last vestiges of the Cold War».

But, purple prose aside, the hard detail is that the ongoing illegal American embargo on Cuba will stay in place. Moreover, the move comes as Washington slaps on more sanctions against Russia and unleashes new sanctions on Venezuela.

Hillsborough officer bullied into signing doctored statement, inquest hears

A senior South Yorkshire police officer bullied a constable to sign a doctored statement about the Hillsborough disaster, the new inquest into the deaths of 96 people at the football ground has heard.

PC Michael Walpole told the inquest that he feared his job would be made “a misery” if he did not sign the amended statement, in which several of his original comments had been deleted, because he had seen other officers hounded out of the police in similar circumstances.

Walpole said that at the time he believed it was “out of order” for his statement to have been doctored, and he initially refused to sign it. He was then required to go to South Yorkshire police headquarters at Snig Hill in Sheffield to meet a chief inspector, Alan Foster, with two other constables, Peter Smith and Maxwell Groome, who were also refusing to sign their changed statements.

Little do they know that much of the nearly 1.2 quadrillion dollars of dodgy derivatives, the liability for which Citigroup masterfully managed to dump on American taxpayers and depositors recently, are riding on high oil prices, which have tanked and look as though they will remain that way for the foreseeable future. It’s almost certain that oil derivatives are soon to follow.

Is Europe About to Lose the Fight Against GMO’s?

“What emerges is an understanding of TTIP as the political project of a transatlantic corporate and political elite which, on the unfounded promise of increased trade and job creation, will attempt to reverse social and environmental regulatory protections, redirect legal rights from citizens to corporations, and consolidate US and European global leadership in a changing world order.” – (Seattle to Brussels Network, Kim Bizzarri)

NSA Firefoxed: Mozilla team-up with Tor to improve internet privacy

The internet browser Mozilla is teaming up with Tor to give internet users greater security online. The new Polaris project is designed to combat internet censorship and make NSA like intrusion’s a thing of the past.

Edward Snowden’s revelations concerning the extent of the National Security Agency’s spying on the general public, hit computer and internet enthusiasts hard. A poll conducted by Harris Poll on behalf of the internet company Mozilla last month, found that three quarters of those surveyed feel that their personal information on the web is less secure than it was one year ago.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The comment in the article about the NSA not being able to find a TOR users identity is not entirely accurate. Recently it has come to light that if a user has the flash player installed on their computer, malicious code inside a flash object can detect the source IP of the request despite the onion network, which is why the current implementation of TOR recommends users not have the flash player installed. However I think that Mozilla and TOR will close that exploit (if they have not already done so).

As a general rule, everyone ought to be using anonymity tools and strong encryption, even if you do not really have anything to hide, to jam the NSA with added workload and confuse them as to who they should be looking at. For your local data protection or small-group communications, I strongly recommend investing the time to develop your own encryption methods using the code snippets in the NSA Challenge page as examples.

Peshawar Attack – The Empire Strikes Again

Typically, imperial powers depend on the inability of oppressed local populations to muster a unified resistance, and the most successful occupiers are skilled at exploiting the differences among the occupied. Certainly that was the story of the British Empire’s success, and its legacy of nurtured local hatreds can be seen wherever the Union Flag flew, from Muslim-Hindu hatred in Pakistan and India, to Catholic-Protestant hatred in Ireland, to, yes, Jew-Arab, hatred in modern Israel. Ancient Rome was as good at encouraging internecine resentments among the occupied as Britain ever was. - Constantine’s Sword: The Church and the Jews – A History by James Carroll

NSA and EFF to square off in court over internet surveillance

A digital rights group in the United States plans to argue in federal court this week that the National Security Agency’s internet surveillance operations violate the US Constitution’s ban against unlawful searches and seizures.

Like Canada’s Harper Government, Obama Administration Muzzling Its Scientists

In recent years, Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper has come under fire for disallowing scientists working for the Canadian government to speak directly to the press.

An article published in August by The New Republic said “Harper’s antagonism toward climate-change experts in his government may sound familiar to Americans,” pointing to similar deeds done by the George W. Bush Administration. That article also said that “Bush’s replacement,” President Barack Obama, “has reversed course” in this area.

In fact, the study concluded that some dose of paranoia is actually quite adaptive and can serve to keep us safe from danger. The bill is HB 121 and you can read all about it here. It was introduced about a month ago by a – you guessed it – “conservative” Republican. You can always count on “conservative” Republicans to bed down with law enforcement – and rape due process.

U.S. Declares (Currency) War On Russia

U.S. economic terrorism (i.e. the One Bank’s economic terrorism) has hit a new extreme this week. This crime syndicate has launched what can be termed nothing less than an all-out effort to destroy the economy of Russia.

Its modus operandi is, once again, currency manipulation. What is the quickest/easiest way to destroy an economy? Drive the value of its currency as close to zero as possible. The effect of such a manipulated “devaluation” is a massive explosion in inflation. And the effect of that is to make all Russians much poorer.

The economic destruction caused by this economic terrorism affects Russians, and the Russian economy on a percentage-for-percentage basis. Each percentage lower that the banksters drive the ruble with their criminal manipulation makes Russians, and the Russian economy 1% poorer.

No, the solution is to dismantle all the destructive policies both here and abroad that serve as the justification for soldiers and law-enforcement personnel to harass people, eat out their substance, abuse them, torture them, and kill them. The solution is to dismantle the entire welfare-state, warfare-state way of life that is alien to our heritage of liberty. When that happens, we won’t need so many soldiers or cops.

U.S. TV Provides Ample Platform for American Torturers, But None to Their Victims By Glenn Greenwald

snip: Whenever America is forced to confront its heinous acts, the central strategy is to disappear the victims, render them invisible. That’s what robs them of their humanity: it’s the process of dehumanization. That, in turns, is what enables American elites first to support atrocities, and then, when forced to reckon with them, tell themselves that - despite some isolated and well-intentioned bad acts – they are still really good, elevated, noble, admirable people. It’s hardly surprising, then, that a Washington Post/ABC News poll released this morning found that a large majority of Americans believe torture is justified even when you call it “torture.” Not having to think about actual human victims makes it easy to justify any sort of crime.

flashback: MIT to Pay Victims $1.85 Million in Fernald Radiation Settlement

Wednesday, January 7, 1998
MIT and Quaker Oats Co. agreed last week to pay $1.85 million to children at the Walter E. Fernald State School who were subjects of nutrition studies during the 1940s and 1950s as part of an out of court settlement. The students were fed breakfast cereals laced with minute amounts of radioactive iron and calcium tracers. Children were encouraged to take part in the testing with promises of gifts or trips to Red Sox games.

Fernald had been officially designated as a school for retarded children, although some of the residents at the time of the experiment were not retarded.

Following the declassification of federal records on post-war radiation experiments in 1993, a state task force investigating postwar radiation experiments throughout Massachusetts found children at Fernald were used in experiments without the informed consent of parents. A class action suit against MIT and Quaker Oats was filed by former students in December 1995.

Sony leaks reveal Hollywood is trying to break DNS, the backbone of the internet

Most anti-piracy tools take one of two paths: they either target the server that's sharing the files (pulling videos off YouTube or taking down sites like The Pirate Bay) or they make it harder to find (delisting offshore sites that share infringing content). But leaked documents reveal a frightening line of attack that's currently being considered by the MPAA: What if you simply erased any record that the site was there in the first place?

To do that, the MPAA's lawyers would target the Domain Name System (DNS) that directs traffic across the internet. The tactic was first proposed as part of the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) in 2011, but three years after the law failed in Congress, the MPAA has been looking for legal justification for the practice in existing law and working with ISPs like Comcast to examine how a system might work technically.

Believe It Or Not, Something Good In Cromnibus Bill- It took One Woman Senator To Get Something Done In A Chamber Full Of Pansies

Just in case you thought there was no silver lining to the latest budget atrocity, two new burdensome rules that truckers were forced to abide by since 2013 were revoked as a result of the latest bill passed by Congress. Technically what passed was called the Collins Amendment, which was included in the 1,603-page 'Cromnibus' spending bill. I will explain in layman's terms how these two bureaucratic 'rest rules' affected truckers.

This past Summer, Whoopie Goldberg even weighed in against the Collins Amendment because the leftie-statist actress thought that repealing the two rules would roll-back safety provisions. But Senator Susan Collins, who authored the provision, noted that even the FMCSA Administrator admitted that the 2013 rules "did not address the safety and congestion impacts of large trucks being forced onto highways during daytime rush hours, when children are on their way to school."

In reality, the Rockefellers have been one of the largest financial backers and drivers of the eugenics and the depopulation agenda for over a century now.

Check out these 1915 newspaper clippings we came across in research.

Government Prosecutors Fear Liberty and Jury Nullification

I thought you’d be interested to know that the government has asked the judge to limit the defense by not allowing any of Ross’ political or philosophical beliefs to be introduced to the jury as they might influence the jury in his favor. The prosecution goes so far as to say that they fear that exposing the jury to his political thought could invite a jury nullification verdict.

The government obviously doesn’t want this trial to become about internet freedom, the drug war, or liberty. But these crucial issues are on trial along with Ross. This trial is poised to be the most important of 2015 in the fight for freedom. Obviously the government thinks so. They are doing their best to smear Ross and obstruct his defense.

I’m attaching an excerpt (bolds and highlights mine) from the prosecution’s motions illustrating what I’m saying. If you want the original document, just let me know.

This outrage needs to become known, so please spread the word!

Hell on Earth: The American Eugenics Movement and the Fernald Boys Home

As boys, they were confined to the Fernald State School in Waltham, Mass. during the 1940s into the 1970s, often on the basis of a single faulty intelligence test. With no possible way of being released, they were considered “morons” or “imbeciles”… less than human. They were completely at the mercy of the state run institution. Torture and sexual abuse was rampant.

Inside an internet addiction treatment center in China

At the Internet Addiction Treatment Centre in Beijing, children must take part in military-style activities, including exercise drills and the singing of patriotic songs. They are denied access to the internet. One of the first experiences internees undergo is brain monitoring through electroencephalography (EEG). The programme is run by psychologist Tao Ran, who claims the brains of internet and heroin addicts display similarities.

`Christopher Bollyn: Why Solving 9-11 is Our Most Urgent Task

One sure way to get a grasp of our political predicament is to logically analyze what the political leadership has done – and what it has failed to do – about the terror atrocity of 9-11.

Since September 11, 2001, four successive administrations and fourteen Sessions of Congress have utterly failed to conduct a proper criminal investigation of 9-11, a criminal atrocity that profoundly affected the course of the nation. Rather than investigate the mass murder of 3,000 people on 9-11, successive U.S. administrations have engaged in a criminal deception, using lies to take us into foreign wars while imposing police state measures at home.

The government’s egregious failure to conduct a proper criminal investigation into the events of 9-11 is exactly like the failure by the newly-installed president, Lyndon B. Johnson, to investigate the assassination of President John F. Kennedy in 1963. In both cases, rather than conducting proper criminal investigations, the government appointed commissions that produced seriously flawed reports that were simply meant to support the official, but false, version of events.

This Device Turns Plastic Trash Into Edible Mushrooms

?A team of microbiologists and designers wants our future food to pull double duty by breaking down man-made trash while growing tasty treats. The Fungi Mu?tarium is a prototype device that uses fungi to safely break down plastic and grow edible, fluffy biomass in its place. Here’s how it works: small bits of thin plastic—like the kind that make up shopping bags—are doused in UV light to sterilize them and start to break the plastic down. The plastic is then placed in a small pod made of agar, an edible, algae-based gelatin. The pods are placed in the “growth sphere”, a dome-like incubator.

Amazon, HP, eBay join Microsoft bandwagon in warrant case

As extensively telegraphed by Microsoft, the company’s cast of supporters in its legal fight over a warrant seeking a customer’s emails just got a whole lot bigger.

Microsoft was joined by Amazon.com as well as Silicon Valley stalwarts Hewlett-Packard and eBay. Apple, AT&T, Cisco and Verizion, which all supported Microsoft in its lower court case, also weighed in again.

Google, a leader in the cloud-computing realm along with Microsoft and Amazon.com, was among the notable technology companies that haven’t weighed in.

Broken prison labor program fails to keep promises, costs millions

Today, some 1,600 incarcerated men and women in prison factories produce everything from dorm furniture to school lunches. Washington Correctional Industries (CI) generates up to $70 million in sales a year, ranking as the nation’s fourth-largest prison labor program.

But behind CI’s glossy brochures and polished YouTube videos is a broken program that has cost taxpayers millions of dollars, charged exorbitant markups to state agencies to make up for losses, and taken jobs from private businesses that can’t compete with cheap prison labor, a Seattle Times investigation has found.

Cops caught on film threatening weeping girlfriend of man they had just mistakenly shot dead in Walmart for holding a BB gun

Footage has emerged of police in Ohio aggressively questioning the girlfriend of a man who they had just shot dead for holding a BB gun in a Walmart store.

An officer from the Beavercreek department repeatedly demands to know where the slain John Crawford III, 22, got his 'gun' from in an interview with his weeping girlfriend, Tasha Thomas.

Thomas, who is not told until the end of the interview that her loved one has died, is clearly distressed by the line of question from the disbelieving officer, Rodney Curd, who repeatedly suggests she is lying.

Meet Rep. Mike Honda, The Piece Of Work Who Wants To Put You In Prison For Ten Years For Having Body Armor

In between calling for an end to 'the discriminatory ban on bisexual blood donors' and condemning the Israeli boycott, Mike Honda wants to put you in prison for ten years for having body armor. He demands school libraries remove all online filters of Bi-sexual & Transgender websites, so that schoolchildren can access them.
He introduced a 'Homemade Firearms Accountability Act' to 'respond to the growing black market for homemade firearms' and is freaked out about 'the emergence of additive manufacturing (3D printing) to produce firearms.' His 'Climate Change Education Act' seeks to" broaden the understanding of human-induced climate change." Honda, imprisoned in a Japanese internment camp during WWII, supports all kind of hate crime laws and he even wrote an open letter to Rand Paul praising Obama's executive orders. This article will introduce you to this real piece of work, since you've probably never heard of him.

The NSA wrote turkey-day talking points, because of course it did

Thanksgiving can be a touchy time for families with divergent politics. If not Obamacare, it's a good bet that somebody, somewhere was facing off with an aunt or uncle about the NSA.

Defenders of the spy agency might have found this set of talking points helpful. Distributed internally by the NSA the week before Thanksgiving and reported earlier today by Firedoglake, the two-pager — a literal set of bullet points — armed employees with verbal ammunition that they were encouraged to share "with family and close friends."

Uruguay, 1964 to 1970: Torture—as American as apple pie

“The precise pain, in the precise place, in the precise amount, for the desired effect.”

The words of an instructor in the art of torture. The words of Dan Mitrione, the head of the Office of Public Safety (OPS) mission in Montevideo.

Officially, OPS was a division of the Agency for International Development, but the director of OPS in Washington, Byron Engle, was an old CIA hand. His organization maintained a close working relationship with the CIA, and Agency officers often operated abroad under OPS cover, although Mitrione was not one of them.
