Iran: Regime Change by Coronavirus?

The consequences of the COVID-19 outbreak in Iran will exacerbate the Islamic Republic’s ongoing economic crisis and bring it even closer to political collapse than ever before, the outcome of which is unwittingly being facilitated by the government’s mismanaged response to this disease as a result of the narrative corner that it’s backed itself into for “politically correct” reasons, which worryingly raises the question of whether or not regime change might be just around the corner if this dire situation isn’t soon brought under control.

Bloomberg tells AIPAC he'll 'never impose conditions' on military aid to Israel

Former New York Mayor Mike Bloomberg on Monday pledged to support Israel’s security and constrain Iran’s nuclear program at the annual pro-Israel AIPAC summit in Washington, while also criticizing Sen. Bernie Sanders for boycotting the annual event, which has been a lightning rod in the 2020 Democratic primary.

Bloomberg was the only 2020 Democratic presidential candidate to attend the American Israel Public Affairs Committee Conference in Washington, a move criticized by progressives and some Democrats not aligned with the group's views.

“I can’t tell you how glad I am to be at AIPAC,” he said. "Israel is small, we know, but resilient, and surrounded by adversaries. And if you caught the last couple of presidential debates you know that I can empathize."

MORE: Bloomberg criticizes Trump’s response to coronavirus as he launches campaign blitz ahead of Super Tuesday

Webmaster's Commentary:

Translation from Bloombergese into English; "I will allow Israeli full, unfettered and free rein to "play picador" in the Middle East, until it gets into a fight it cannot win on its own, and then expend American troops to clean up after Israel, no matter the cost in blood and money!

And hey, invading Iran, even if Russia has pledged to support it in the case of a US invasion of it, Iran ‘Won’t Be Alone’ If the U.S. Attacks, Russian Official Saysis no big deal!!"

Mayor Bloomberg, a word, please; there are moments when US and Israeli objectives align in the Middle East, and times when they most assuredly do NOT align; this last, and thoroughly irresponsible statement, indicates to both American voters, and the rest of the world, that you are hard-pressed to understand the difference here, and are infinitely more inclined to support Israel, no matter if it is completely wrong in its premise to wage whatever wars they feel are critical, at any given point in time, than supporting an even-handed approach to the region's politics.

IRAN REJECTS TRUMP OFFER OF HELP ON CORONAVIRUS AS AYATOLLAH AIDE DIES: 'WE DON'T NEED THEM'

An Iranian official has dismissed President Donald Trump's offer of help in fighting the coronavirus, which on Monday claimed the life of a senior aide to Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Abbas Mousavi said Monday that the U.S. is seeking to use the virus outbreak as part of its propaganda campaign against Iran to undermine national unity.

"Since the outbreak of the virus in Iran, we have been observing the U.S.-led anti-Iranian propaganda campaign and know about the measures the Americans have taken to reduce Iranian nation's morale," Mousavi told reporters, according to the Mehr News Agency.

Mousavi added that Tehran is "doubtful" about the U.S. offer of help and accused Washington of hiding its political motives behind the proposed cooperation. "We do not need them," Mousavi said.

Webmaster's Commentary:

It is unfortunate, that the US government has, historically, and nearly pathologically, given the Iranian government so many reasons to mistrust anything the US might do, even if it is a gesture that at least, on the surface, looks humanitarian enough in its actual intent.

And to the Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, as an American who does care about her country very intensely, and wishes peaceful self-determination for all countries of the earth, I would say the following; sir, this is perhaps a time to put down past, and prevailing, upsets with the US (and I do understand that right now, they are MANY), and let us encourage all of our brothers and sisters in our scientific communities to work together, responsibly, to find answers as to why this pandemic spread out of control so so rapidly; what its true nature is; and how to effectively, and intelligently, find a safe vaccine which will immunize all of humankind from this plague.

You have no idea who I am, or that I even exist; but I do read, and post from, presstv.com frequently, and there is one thing I do know about the Iranian people; they care, very much, for their families, and want to keep them well and healthy.

I am respectfully requesting that you might want to rethink this decision; and to the US government, if there is a little bit of relenting here on the Iranian side, please honor and respect that.

Adviser to Iran's Supreme leader dies from coronavirus, as other top officials infected

An adviser to Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has died from the new coronavirus, as other top officials in the country are confirmed to be infected, according to multiple reports on Monday.

The Iranian Health Ministry recorded 523 new cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the country's known total to 1,501. They mark a 53 percent increase since the day before.

Iran and Hezbollah warn Turkey: all your forces are in our line of fire

The Iranian Advisory Center in Syria, which takes part in the fighting in northern Syria, issued a press release through the news agency U-News in reaction to the recent confrontation between the Syrian army and the Turkish army. Iran: Dubowitz’s coronavirus remarks 'shameful and inhuman'

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Abbas Araqchi says the remarks by Mark Dubowitz, Chief Executive of Washington-based Foundation for Defense of Democracies (FDD), about the spread of coronavirus in Iran are “shameful and downright inhuman.”

Dubowitz claimed on Twitter Tuesday that coronavirus has halted Iran’s non-oil exports, achieving “what American economic sanctions could not.”

Sanctions, assassinations, threats by US... Who’s surprised by hardliners winning Iran’s elections?

The Iranian parliamentary elections have been marred with low voter turnout and a pending victory for Iran’s conservatives. Are the media right to lay the blame squarely on the government, or does the US share some culpability?
The mainstream media has been holding back no punches in its assessment of the recent elections in Iran. According to Iran’s official Fars News Agency, only 42 percent of Iranians took to vote in the country’s parliamentary elections last Friday — the lowest ever percentage since the Islamic Republic’s inception 41 years ago. The low turnout was not surprising to Iran, or even the world, after approximately half of the 16,000 candidates were disqualified.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Unfortunately, the US government does share some major culpability for this outcome; it's attitude toward Iran, from abandoning the P5+1 deal, to making desperately needed medications, particularly for cancer patients, unavailable, is nothing short of spectacularly short sighted, and geopolitically damning.

Coronavirus outbreak meets another pandemic cat bond trigger condition

The spreading global outbreak of the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV or Covid-19) has now met another of the conditions within the trigger mechanism of the World Bank’s pandemic catastrophe bond transaction, raising the chance that noteholders face losses in the coming weeks.

coronavirus-cat-bond-china: As we have explained, the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV or Covid-19) outbreak that began in the city of Wuhan in Hubei province China poses a threat to the World Bank’s $320 million IBRD CAR 111-112 pandemic catastrophe bond transaction that provides a source of insurance or reinsurance capital to back the Pandemic Emergency Financing Facility (PEF).

The coronavirus outbreak has the potential to become an eligible event under the terms of the World Bank’s pandemic catastrophe bond notes that provide insurance or reinsurance like capacity to back a pandemic financing facility.

Next week could potentially be one of the worst week ever, for financial houses; stocks; and bonds.

Capture of M5 Hama-Aleppo Highway: One of the Most Celebrated Prizes in Damascus’ Campaign to Regain Territory

The return of the M5 should lower costs of shipments of goods between Aleppo and Hama, Homs and Damascus at a time the Syrian economy is in crisis due to nearly nine years of warfare and US and European sanctions. Jamil’s journey shows that travel has been eased for civilians who save time as well as rationed petrol.

The capture of the M5 by the Syrian army is one of the most celebrated prizes in Damascus’ campaign to regain territory lost to takfiris and rebels since unrest erupted in 2011. The 450-kilometre M5 links Syria’s main cities, Deraa, Damascus, Homs, Hama and Aleppo, and was the main artery for both commercial and personal travel before the war. The government began to lose control of the highway when diverse rebel and takfiri groups seized different sectors.

Beyond Israeli Elections: Israel at the Cusp of a Bleak Era

Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, must be channeling the spirit of Houdini as he continues to plot his escape from one of the most convoluted political dilemmas in Israel’s history.

It is no secret that Netanyahu’s political behavior is almost entirely shaped by his desire to survive in office for as long as possible in order to avoid possible jail time. But how long will the Israeli escape artist manage to survive, now that a date for his trial has already been set?

After months of bargaining with the country’s political elite, on one hand, and pleading to his own right-wing constituency on the other, Netanyahu has failed to create the necessary momentum that would render him immune from prosecution and secure his position at the helm of Israeli politics.

After failing to form a government following the April elections, Netanyahu has masterfully linked his fate as a Prime Minister to all of Israel’s affairs, internal and external.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is why Netanyahu desperately needs a "misdirection", to deflect Israeli anger at his failure to deliver a government twice, not to mention his upcoming corruption trial.

The man is certainly not above creating a "false flag" in order to do this, let's say, creating a false flag strike against Saudi and US military personnel in Saudi Arabia, then blaming it on Iran.

Israeli elections start this Monday, and trust me; the man will do everything in his power, to stay in power, and present himself as "untouchable" in these ongoing corruption investigations.

The big question for Israeli voters is, how much is he actually willing to risk in terms of Israel's security, in order to attempt to pull something like this off?!?

I must tell you, I wouldn't want to have to be an Israeli voter, pondering that question right now.

2,500 US Troops Now Stationed in Saudi Arabia to ‘Deter’ Iran

Al-Qaeda was very publicly using the presence of US ground troops in Saudi Arabia as a recruiting tool in the period around 9/11. Suggesting that many lessons have not been learned, some 2,500 US troops are back in the kingdom, and readying for a long stay.

Hype surrounding military tensions with Iran are driving this US deployment back into the region. More and more ground troops are being sent every time there is even a little tension, nominally to “deter” Iran from attacking the Saudi kingdom.

These deployments began in earnest when Yemen’s Houthis fired at missile at Saudi oil producing regions, and the Saudis blamed Iran for it. US military tensions in Iraq led to many more troops being sent, since Iraq made clear they didn’t want more US troops there, and the US wanted them somewhere near Iran.

US hostility toward Iran isn’t getting better, so a decision to leave seems unlikely.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Mr. President, a word, please; the leadership of Iran may be many things, but one of them, sir, is NOT overtly stupid; they understand that any attack directly against Saudi Arabia will translate into a US attack against it which would leave the country a radioactive puddle of oozing glass and concrete.

So who, in the region, might be the likely culprit for a false flag attack against Saudi Arabia, to be blamed against Iran?!?

In a word sir, one of your BFFs in the Middle East, and the guy who is fighting back for his political life, struggling against corruption charges, and a new election next month; and yes, that person would be... (drum roll, please) none other than Bibi Netanyahu.

And if you think, for a millisecond, Mr. President, that Netanyahu would not order such a strike, to attempt to save his own skin, you are horrifically mistaken; Netanyahu, right now is, and has been, a geopolitically wounded animal, between the corruption charges, and twice having been unable to form a new government.

Geopolitically wounded candidates are the most dangerous.

And would he inform you about such a false flag strike before it happened?!?

Mr. President, in order to inflict maximum world geopolitical shock at such an act, to be blamed ultimately on Iran, I doubt like hell this is going to happen, and you have now positioned US troops in Saudi Arabia as absolute "sitting ducks" for such an attack.

Mr. President, I care about our troops; many of them come very much from families like mine - middle class, who believe that service to their country, is an honor, which I also believe.

But sir, Israeli elections will start to be held on this Monday, 2 March
.
Please keep a close eye on your BFF Netanyahu throughout this process; his internal polls may suggest that he needs something terrifying substantive to happen pull people together to support him, and an alleged Iranian attack against Saudi Arabia may just be what he chooses, to galvanize his base around him.

Iran Open to ‘Any Initiative’ to Save Nuclear Deal

Another round of talks on the P5+1 nuclear deal in Vienna ended with Iranian negotiator Abbas Araghchi saying Iran is open to “any initiative” that any nation can offer to try to save the deal, and is fully ready to reverse any violations of the deal, so long as the other powers are also willing to get back into compliance on sanctions relief.

Sanctions relief is the big key for Iran, as since the US withdrew from the deal, a lot of that relief just isn’t coming. Iran’s violations have been done deliberately, and in reversible ways, to try to force the other side to the table on relief.

The obvious fix would be for the EU nations to totally circumvent EU sanctions, which was at one point assumed to be in the works. So far, the EU nations seem unwilling or unable to deliver on that.

How John Bolton And A Phony Script Brought Us To The Brink Of War

President Trump’s decision to assassinate Qassem Soleimani back in January took the United States to the brink of war with Iran.

Trump and his advisors contend that Soleimani’s death was necessary to protect American lives, pointing to a continuum of events that began on December 27, when a rocket attack on an American base in Iraq killed a civilian translator. That in turn prompted U.S. airstrikes against a pro-Iranian militia, Khati’ab Hezbollah, which America blamed for the attack. Khati’ab Hezbollah then stormed the U.S. embassy in Baghdad in protest. This reportedly triggered the assassination of Soleimani and a subsequent Iranian retaliatory missile strike on an American base in Iraq. The logic of this continuum appears consistent except for one important fact—it is all predicated on a lie.

Iran's Deputy Health Minister Tests Positive for Coronavirus After Government Tells Citizens Not to Panic

Despite some of the trappings of a modern society, Iran is still essentially a Third-World country. This makes them particularly susceptible to epidemics like the coronavirus that is sweeping the world.

Misinformation, disinformation, and outright lies told by the government are not helping the situation. Tehran announced that there were 95 cases of the virus across the country, but 16 people had died of it. That's a staggering mortality rate of 16.8 percent -- 7 times higher than the mortality rate in Wuhan. Disease experts concluded that the number of cases in Iran is far higher than authorities are letting on.

If the Iranians want to lie to their own people, that's their business. But their lies must be placed in the context of a worldwide epidemic that health authorities are losing control of. Information -- accurate and complete -- is absolutely vital if the damage from this virus is to be contained.

Unbelievable comparisons to symptoms 'showing' as a V-Irus compared vs what happens when one is hit with 60GHz waves, and it's impact on the uptake of oxygen via the hemoglobin. This specific frequency is absorbed by oxygen. 60GHz causes the rotation of the electrons around the oxygen molecule to spin, thus inhibiting the ability of hemoglobin to properly uptake these oxygen molecules. What would be the ultimate 'solution' to such a problem as this "V.I.Rus"?

Coronavirus Could Be on the Verge of Worldwide Breakout

Paul Craig Roberts

It is difficult to get reliable information about coronavirus. The information difficulty is further complicated by interest groups using the outbreak for their own agendas. For example, many both inside and outside China are using the spread of the virus to criticize the Chinese government. Others, both inside and outside China, claim the virus is a bioweapon unleashed on China by the US. Still others say the global elite has decided to implement a program to reduce the world population and that Bill Gates, one of the global elite, said some months ago that a global pandemic would break out at this time. Some Internet sites attract traffic by posting reports of massive numbers of Chinese deaths and crematoriums running 24/7. The official Chinese story has been that the virus originated in a market that sold wild animal meat. The fact remains that Wuhan, apparently a city larger than any in the US, has been locked down for a month.

Iran's Hardliners Win Landslide Victory In Low Turn-Out Parliamentary Elections

Early results from Friday's nationwide Iran parliamentary elections show a landslide for conservative and hawkish anti-West candidates, with forecasts showing them taking more than two-thirds of the seats.

Iranian state TV announced Sunday that hardliners won a landslide all 30 seats in Tehran, AP reports. Much of this conservative group is led by old guard supporters of ex-president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, in a victory seen as a major blow to 'reformist' President Hassan Rouhani and his supporters.

US state-funded Radio Farda identifies "that least 15 former cabinet ministers and provincial governors close to former ultraconservative Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's have also won in the elections" — among them Habibollah Dahmardeh, Ebrahim Azizi, Abdolreza Mesri, Hamid Reza Hajibabai, and Ali Nikzad.

Turkey, So Much We Aren’t Being Told

Iran is deeply resentful of the US and the assassination of Soleimani, particularly since the New York Times article that has made the actions on the part of the US so much more serious than simply the murder of a high-ranking perceived enemy. From the New York Times, February 14, 2020:

“Washington ordered the assassination of top Iranian General Qassem Soleimani to sabotage de-escalation talks between Iran, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates following a report by Israel’s Mossad spy agency, according to the New York Times.

The paper reported on Thursday that General Soleimani had been arranging talks in Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates in order to de-escalate tensions with Tehran.

Pompeo Stresses Iranian Threat in Saudi Visit, Meets New Sultan in Oman

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has been on a world tour that brought him to Munich, parts of Africa and, most recently, Saudi Arabia and Oman. Not surprisingly, Pompeo’s visit to the two Gulf countries was mostly focused on countering Iran, although he was forced to address the issue of imprisoned US citizens inside Saudi Arabia.

Before traveling to Saudi Arabia, Pompeo talked to reporters in Ethiopia on Wednesday about the Trump administration’s “maximum pressure” campaign against Iran. “The pressure campaign continues. It’s not just an economic pressure campaign, it’s diplomatic pressures, isolation through diplomacy, as well,” Pompeo said.

Webmaster's Commentary:

More sound and fury, on the part of Pompeo against Iran, signifying.... absolutely nothing.

What, please, has Iran done to the world to make it the world's enemy, except to thrive economically, after the 1979 Revolution?!?

The short answer is, nothing.

And before it gets pulled from English speaking audiences, please bop over to the English language version of www.presstv.com, and see just what the Iranians are saying about themselves, and about world affairs.

I would politely suggest to both Israel's Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu, and the US's President Trump, that although Iranian leadership may be many things (including being a theocracy, as is Israel Israel has evolved from democracy to theocracy) , one of them is not wild-ass crazy; they will not do something overtly aggressive, because they understand that should they do something stupid, it will result in that country being melted into green glass by a joint US/Israeli nuclear strike against it.

TRUMP APPOINTS PRO-ISRAEL, ANTI-IRAN AMB. RICHARD GRENELL AS ACTING INTELLIGENCE CHIEF

SOURCE: CHRIS MENAHAN, INFORMATION LIBERATION
President Donald Trump on Wednesday appointed US Ambassador to Germany Richard Grenell as the acting director of national intelligence, making him the first openly gay person to serve in a cabinet-level position.

Donald J. Trump
?
@realDonaldTrump
Thank you to our great US Ambassador to Germany, @RichardGrenell, for stepping in to serve as acting DNI. I will be nominating a terrific candidate for the job very soon. Stay tuned!

As The Jerusalem Post reports, Grenell is known for his "pro-Israel and anti-Iran" stances.

"For Israel's security and defense establishment, Grenell's hawkish views towards Iran's regime will be welcomed with open arms," Foundation for Defense of Democracies fellow Benjamin Weinthal said.

Though Grenell officially serves as the US' ambassador to Germany, one might assume by looking at his Twitter feed that he was Israel's ambassador to America.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This absolutely does not augur well for peace in the Middle East, at all; but peace, of course, is utterly not what either Netanyahu nor President Trump wants to see happen here, but a massive "regime change" in Tehran, to be brought about "by any means necessary".

I would, however, like to politely remind Prime Minister Netanyahu; President Trump; and Acting DNI Grennell, of the following, reported in the English language version of the Moscow Times last summer:

Iran ‘Won’t Be Alone’ If U.S. Attacks, Russian Official Says

The article goes on to state: "“Iran will withstand this type of fight and Iran is not alone,” Zamir Kabulov, the Foreign Ministry’s special envoy for Asian countries including Iran, said at a Russian-Iranian policy forum in Moscow.

When asked if Russia was ready to provide material support to Iran if the U.S. attacks it, Kabulov said that “specific actions are a question for the Russian president.”

“But it’s not just Russia, many other countries sympathize and empathize with Iran,” the Kommersant business daily quoted him as saying. “Tehran won’t be alone if the U.S., God forbid, takes wild and irresponsible actions against it.”

So, gentlemen, there you have it; should the US(and/or Israel) attack Iran, Russia, and some other, yet to be identified regional players, will be working with Iran to stop such a campaign.

If Kabulov has made the Iranian diplomats who attended this conference such a promise, you can bet it came directly down from "the boss", Vlad Putin; career politicians like Kabulov do not even fart, without Putin's express permission.

So, gentlemen, war with Russia over.... Iran?!?

Would someone please, run a cost/benefit analysis of what such a US military campaign would cost, in American blood and money?!?

And President Trump, are you willing to bet the future of your political party on such a dicey prospect, at the end of your first term, or the beginning of your second?!?

And are you willing to face the political consequences of having to reintroduce the draft, which this time, according to legislation quietly ready for implementation, will be coming not only for our young men, but also for our young women as well?!?

I would hope that the answer here will be, "HELL, no!!"

Here's Why Patriot Missiles Weren't Protecting US Troops In Iraq And Why They Still Aren't

U.S. Secretary of Defense Mark Esper and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff U.S. Army General Mark Milley explained the situation in response to a question from Fox News' Jennifer Griffin at a press conference on Jan. 30, 2020. There were reports last week that the U.S. military was considering deploying Patriot systems to Iraq. There has been increasing attention in the press and among the general public on the issue of American air and missile defenses in the country after it emerged that there were no such assets in place when Iran fired a flurry of ballistic missiles at U.S. forces at Al Asad, as well as Erbil International Airport, on Jan. 7. Those strikes had been in retaliation for the U.S. decision to kill Qasem Soleimani, then the head of Iran's Quds Force, on Jan. 3.

Ayatollah Tweets "Wealthy Zionists" Control America Amid Push To Get Him Banned From Twitter

Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei has marked the latest national event commemorating the death of IRGC Quds Force commander Qasem Soleimani by tweeting a deeply provocative statement asserting that “wealthy Zionists” control America.

The United States has reached the “peak of arrogance,” and is controlled by “wealthy Zionists and their corporate owners,” which makes it a “manifestation of oppression, abhorred by the world,” he said further, as reported in The Jerusalem Post.

The statement comes after the Islamic Republic's top cleric and head of the regime previously slammed Trump's Mideast peace plan “Deal of the Century” as “satanic” because it ultimately represents the “Jewishization” of Jerusalem and the suppression of Islamic identity.

“To the dismay of US politicians, the satanic, evil US policy about Palestine — the so-called Deal Of The Century— will never bear fruit, by the grace of God,” Khamenei wrote on his official Twitter account in late January.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I am respectfully requesting that Twitter does not ban either this man, nor other of his Iranian contemporaries, no matter how much hawkish Republicans want to see these statements banned.

And folks, one of two things will happen here; either these charges will wither in the light of logic, or they will not.

What concerns me so deeply about Twitter, and these Neocons, is that they don't believe that thinking Americans have the ability to think critically about what they see coming from Iran, and do a reality test.

It appears that both Twitter and these Neocons have already made the decision that Americans are pathologically incapable of deciding for themselves what the truth of a situation may be, so need to be "protected" from these kinds of statements from members of the Iranian leadership by censoring them, before they get to the American people; but is this really the truth?!?

So I have to ask; what are Twitter and these Neocons afraid of, if these statements are absolutely lies, on the part of Iranian leadership?!?

The short answer is, absolutely nothing, which is why such statements should not be censored, period, end of discussion.

Erdogan’s Long-Coming Reality Check:

by Ghassan Kadi for The Saker Blog

It is hard to say if Erdogan is running out of choices, friends, time, or all of the above; and his stands on various issues and the contradictions he ploughs through are making his situation increasingly untenable.

For the benefit of readers who haven’t heard this before; Erdogan is juggling being a Turkish Muslim reformer who parades under the photos of Turkish secular anti-Muslim nation-builder Mustafa Kemal; an EU-aspiring member and also an aspiring global Sunni leader; an ally of Israel as well as Hamas; an Islamist who is also at odds with the Wahhabi Islamists; a nationalist Turk who wants to curb Kurdish aspirations not only in Syria and Iraq but also in Turkey; a Sunni leader who wants to restore the Sultanate and Caliphate and the fundamentalist Sunni version of anti-Shiite Islam but is also a friend of Shiite Iran; a NATO member with a special relationship with America, and a special friend and ally of Russia.

Satellite Images Show Heavy Damage From Israeli Attack on Damascus AirportSeveral warehouses destroyed

On February 13, Israel attacked the Damascus Airport with a series of missile strikes. Israeli media were quick to label the attack as targeting “Iranians,” which is what Israel always says it is attacking in nearby nations.

Israel’s reports were non-specific, and Syria’s reports were on some missiles being intercepted. Specific details on the damage are only now starting to emerge with commercial satellite images showing a number of warehouses destroyed.

Israeli media, dutifully, reported those as Iranian warehouses, and further suggested that the airport site must’ve been the headquarters of the Iranian Quds Force, despite no evidence supporting such a claim.

WITH SANDERS SURGING IN THE POLLS, ISRAEL LOBBY SPENDS BIG BUCKS TO SINK HIS CHANCES IN NEVADA

SOURCE: RT
After emerging as the Democratic frontrunner in wake of Iowa and New Hampshire primaries, Bernie Sanders heads to Nevada leading in polls but facing new opposition: the Israel lobby and its vast cash reserves.
Despite being pipped at the post in Iowa by Pete Buttigieg (with the help of a malfunctioning voting app, his supporters claim), Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders came out victorious in last week’s New Hampshire primary. With the Nevada primary just a week away, a Morning Consult poll published this week put the progressive senator ten points ahead of Joe Biden, the former vice president and until now, the supposed frontrunner for the 2020 nomination.

While the news has energized Sanders’ supporters, it’s also motivated mainstream Democrats and establishment talking heads, who’ve taken to slamming Sanders as a “communist,” and a “left-wing version of Trump.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

This was a perfectly predictable ploy on the part of Tel Aviv, particularly with Bloomberg and Hillary jumping into the race, as the US Democratic Party's "Gruesome Twosome"; these candidates are believed by Tel Aviv to be far more bullish on Israeli hegemony in the Middle East than anyone else the Democratic Party can produce, even if such a presidency must necessarily result in a US return to the draft, and more endless wars of aggression against Iran; Lebanon; Syria; and ultimately, Russia.

Remember; it will never be Bloomberg's or Clinton's kids or grandkids who will be drafted, killed, or maimed for life, to support US financial global hegemony, or Israel's self-proclaimed hegemony over the entire Middle East.

Rouhani Says Iran Will Only Negotiate With US if Washington Returns to Nuclear Deal, Lifts Sanctions

On 8 May, 2018, US President Donald Trump announced Washington’s unilateral withdrawal from the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, reinstating harsh economic sanctions against Tehran.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has stated that Tehran will only sit down with Washington if the US returns to the 2015 Iran nuclear deal and scraps sanctions against the Islamic Republic.

“Iran will never negotiate under pressure ... We will never yield to America's pressure and we will not negotiate from a position of weakness. America's 'maximum pressure' towards Iran is doomed to failure”, Rouhani told reporters in Tehran on Sunday.

‘No shred of evidence’: Iran demands US presents proof of Saudi oil attacks claim after UN report release

Tehran slammed the US for using a recent UN report to peddle its Saudi oil attack claims, accusing Washington of “clutching at every straw” to back up the allegations, while the report itself is based on shaky hypotheses.

“Just hours after the attack on Saudi oil facilities on 14 September 2019, the U.S. baselessly attributed it to Iran, but has failed so far to present any shred of evidence. Now, it clutches at every straw to seemingly prove its allegation,” the Iranian mission to the UN stated on Saturday, responding to the US mission doubling down on the White House’s claim that Iran was behind the 14 September twin attacks on Saudi oil giant Aramco facilities in Abqaiq and Khureys.

Gen. Soleimani assassinated to sabotage Iran's talks with Saudis, UAE following Israeli briefing: NYT

Washington ordered the assassination of top Iranian General Qassem Soleimani to sabotage de-escalation talks between Iran, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates following a report by Israel's Mossad spy agency, according to the New York Times.

The paper reported on Thursday that General Soleimani had been arranging talks in Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates in order to de-escalate tensions with Tehran.

The Times wrote that the talks happened after Saudi Arabia and the UAE, which are central to the Trump administration's so-called regional alliance seeking to pressure Iran, began to question the efficiency of Washington's anti-Iran campaign.

IRGC Aerospace Forces Commander’s debriefing about Iran’s strike against Al-Assad US Airbase

The assassination of the martyr Hajj Qassem Soleimani was one of the greatest strategic mistakes in the history of the United States. These strikes were only the beginning of considerable transformations and developments in the region and around the world.

The vengeance of the blood of the martyr Soleimani and our other dear martyrs lies in the triggering of a phase which had to be implemented (sooner or later). As the Supreme Leader Sayed Khamenei said, May God preserve him, ‘The revenge for the blood of the martyrs will drive the US forces out of the region.’ Our missile strikes against one of the most important American bases in the framework of our ‘Operation Martyr Soleimani’ were the start of a major operation that will continue throughout the whole region.

SENATE PASSES WAR POWERS ACT LIMITING TRUMP’S AUTHORITY TO LAUNCH MILITARY OPERATIONS AGAINST IRAN

SOURCE: NBC NEWS

The Senate backed legislation Thursday to limit President Donald Trump’s ability to wage war against Iran, rebuking him after a strike against an Iranian military commander and Tehran’s retaliation last month raised fears of broader regional conflict.

Eight of Trump’s fellow Republicans joined Democrats to pass the war powers resolution by 55-45. The measure would require Trump to remove U.S. troops engaged in hostilities against Iran unless Congress declares war or passes a specific authorization for the use of military force.

Let our news meet your inbox. The news and stories that matters, delivered weekday mornings.

Trump has promised a veto and there is not expected to be enough support in the Senate to muster the two-thirds majority to override. Republicans in the chamber hold 53 of the 100 seats and rarely vote against the president.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The Senate was absolutely correct in doing this, because the Constitution very unambiguously states that only Congress can declare war.

That being said, it is very unfortunate that President Trump's veto will be allowed to stand; because, sooner or later, in light of the reality that the President is pathologically incapable of seeing the country of Iran other than through the jaundiced eyes of one of his BFFs in the Middle East, Israel's Prime Minister Netanyahu, we are looking at a US war against Iran.

I would politely like to remind the President, Congress, the State Department, and the Pentagon, of a promise made last summer, by a Russian Diplomat, at a Symposium attended by Iranian delegates. This headline, from the Moscow Times, English language edition, and was published on 26 June, 2019: Iran ‘Won’t Be Alone’ If U.S. Attacks, Russian Official Says

The article goes on to state: "“Iran will withstand this type of fight and Iran is not alone,” Zamir Kabulov, the Foreign Ministry’s special envoy for Asian countries including Iran, said at a Russian-Iranian policy forum in Moscow."

Kabulov went on to say: "“But it’s not just Russia, many other countries sympathize and empathize with Iran,” the Kommersant business daily quoted him as saying. “Tehran won’t be alone if the U.S., God forbid, takes wild and irresponsible actions against it.”

So there you have it, folks; if the US invades Iran, Russia, and probably a number of yet-unspecified countries, will be willing to come to its aid against the US, and its consortium.

Zabulov, and other high Russian officials, when making statements like this, are making them because they are coming from both President Putin and the Russian Duma; I would like, please, for the officials in the US to remember this, as they are evolving a US Iran policy, which most likely will force the US to fight to "defend Israel", if the deal between Pompeo and Netanyahu, begun last December, comes to fruition this year: Netanyahu, Pompeo push forward with US-Israel defense pact

The JPost article goes on to state: "Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo made progress on a defense pact between their countries in their meeting in Lisbon this week, Netanyahu said on Thursday.

“The meeting with Pompeo was critical for Israeli security,” Netanyahu said of the discussion that took an hour and 45 minutes on Wednesday. “We agreed to promote a defense pact.”

Translation: this means that the US military would be forced to defend Israel in the region and beyond, even if Israel (as is so frequently the case) perpetrated some major mischief against its neighbors from which it cannot extricate itself, without US military assistance/aggression.

And BTW, if this gets passed after the annual AIPAC meeting in DC in March, does anyone in this country beside me, feel a draft?!?

Folks, particularly the parents, families, and friends, of American teenages; be afraid, be very afraid, should this legislation get passed.

Thousands of Marines enter Persian Gulf with USS Bataan’s amphibious readiness group

What brought Iranian forces to Idlib front?

Iran’s involvement in Idlib appears to also have something to do with Iran’s grand regional plan following the killing of Soleimani, that is, attempting to expel US forces from the region. As the main concentration of the US forces in Syria is in the areas east of the Euphrates river controlled by the Syrian Democratic Forces, Tehran wants the Syrian government operation in Idlib to be concluded successfully as soon as possible so that the next step in realizing Assad’s promise to “liberate every inch of Syrian territory” could be started in the east of the Euphrates. Referring to this issue, Ali Akbar Velayati, a top adviser to Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, said in a press conference Jan. 30 that “the Syrian government and its allies from the resistance front will go from Idlib to the eastern Euphrates to expel the Americans.”

More Lies on Iran: The White House Just Can’t Help Itself as New Facts Emerge

The public that actually follows the news might recall a little more than one month ago the United States assassinated a senior Iranian official named Qassem Soleimani. Openly killing someone in the government of a country with which one is not at war is, to say the least, unusual, particularly when the crime is carried out in yet another country with which both the perpetrator and the victim have friendly relations.

It soon emerged that the Iranian was in fact in Baghdad to discuss with the Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi a plan that might lead to the de-escalation of the ongoing conflict between Saudi Arabia and Iran, a meeting that the White House apparently knew about may even have approved. If that is so, events as they unfolded suggest that the U.S. government might have encouraged Soleimani to make his trip so he could be set up and killed.

What about stopping endless wars? Trump urges GOP to vote down Iran war resolution because it’s a partisan ploy by Democrats

US President Donald Trump says the resolution that would block him from using force against Iran is a partisan trick by Democrats, even though he campaigned on a peace platform and some of his closest allies support the proposal.

“We are doing very well with Iran and this is not the time to show weakness,” Trump tweeted on Wednesday, adding that Tehran would “have a field day” if his hands were tied.

“The Democrats are only doing this as an attempt to embarrass the Republican Party. Don’t let it happen!” he urged the GOP majority.

At stake is the Iran War Powers Resolution, proposed by Democrats in the wake of the drone assassination of General Qassem Soleimani in Baghdad last month.

Democrats Ignore Trump’s Real Violations

Last month, President Trump authorized the assassination of a top Iranian General, Qassim Soleimani, and a top Iraqi military officer inside Iraqi territory while Soleimani was on a diplomatic mission. Trump and his Administration tried to claim that the attack was essential because of an “imminent threat” of a Soleimani attack on US troops in the region.

We found out shortly afterward that they lied about the “imminent threat.” The assassination was not “urgent” – it was planned back in June. Trump then claimed it didn’t matter whether there was an imminent threat: Soleimani was a bad guy so he deserved to be assassinated.

But the attack was an act of war on Iran without Congressional declaration or authorization for war. Is that not perhaps a “high crime” or “misdemeanor”?

Bennett: US agreed to counter Iran in Iraq while Israel fights it in Syria

Jerusalem and Washington have divided up the fight against Iran, with Israel taking responsibility for countering the Islamic Republic in Syria and the United States in Iraq, Defense Minister Naftali Bennett said Saturday.

Last Thursday, Bennett returned from a working visit to Washington, in which he met US Defense Secretary Mark Esper and other senior American officials.

Speaking at a campaign event on Saturday, he said the two countries had agreed to work in tandem to block Tehran’s efforts to create a corridor through which it could move men and materiel from Iran, through Iraq and Syria, and out to Lebanon and the Mediterranean Sea.

Trump’s Brink of War with Iran Spun on a Lie

Iraqi military intelligence has found that almost certainly the rocket attack on a U.S. base in December which killed an American contractor was carried out by the Islamic State terror group – not an Iranian-backed Shia militia, contrary to what Washington has been claiming.

It turns out that President Trump’s brink of war with Iran was most likely spun on a cynical lie. That misinformation also led to the U.S. assassination of top Iranian military leader, Major General Qassem Soleimani on January 3, and to the subsequent shoot-down of a civilian airliner in Iran with 176 lives lost.

Iran is hit by 'largest cyber attack in its history' hours ahead of failed attempt to launch satellite into orbit

Last night, a rocket launch from Imam Khomeini Spaceport was scuppered due to low speeds which stopped it breaking into orbit.

It was a humiliating blow to Tehran, which the United States believes is developing rocket technology to advance nuclear capabilities.

But hours before the failure, Iran's deputy information minister Hamid Fatah had revealed the country's communications network had been hit with 'the most widespread attack in Iranian history'.

He tweeted: 'Hackers today launched the most widespread attack in Iranian history against the country's infrastructure.

'Millions of origin targeted millions of destinations and are seeking worldwide disruption to Iran's Internet network'.

It is unclear if the hack caused the failure of the rocket launch, which happened at Imam Khomeini Spaceport in Iran's Semnan province, some 145 miles southeast of Tehran.

We suffered no casualties.” Trump also stated there was no significant damage to the bases.

Trump’s Chumps

I voted for Donald Trump in the 2016 election.

I spent months making the case for Trump on this website. I will be the first to admit that I was wrong and that those who were skeptical of Trump in our community were right in 2016. In that election, I drank the koolaid and was one of Trump’s Chumps. Unlike AmNats, I have tried to learn something from that experience.

In 2020, we have a far better sense of Donald Trump. The Trump administration has a record now. Donald Trump’s first term is mostly history. We can now look back with the benefit of hindsight and evaluate our standing after the last three years without being drunk on Trump koolaid. No one drank the Trump koolaid in our community more deeply than the AmNats. Some of them remained drunk on the Trump koolaid even after the 2018 midterms. A handful of his most faithful cheerleaders have never given up faith in their GOD EMPEROR and succumbed to reality.

What is the reality of the Trump presidency?

'War Games in the North': Is Israel Bracing for New Conflict Involving Syria, Lebanon & Iran

On 28-30 January, the Institute for National Security Studies (INSS) held its 13th annual international conference entitled "Strategic Assessment for Israel: A Look at the Coming Decade." INSS researcher, Retired Brig. General Dr Meir Elran, has shed light on Israel's strategic goals and outlined Israel's vision of Russia's role in the Middle East.

"War Games in the North" came as part of the INSS annual conference in the Smolarz Auditorium at Tel Aviv University with Israeli, American and Russian participants discussing various scenarios of a potential development of a conflict in the Middle East, involving Israel, Lebanon, Syria, Hezbollah and Iran and global players – the United States and Russia.

The participants in the military simulation came to the conclusion that all of the actors of the hypothetical conflict - in which Israel initiates attacks on Lebanon and Syria – would opt for de-escalation as no one is interested in an all-out war.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Oh, I would very politely suggest that Israel would be for all-out war... as long as the US military does its fighting for Israel.

Just take a look at this article, reported last December in jpost.com: Netanyahu, Pompeo push forward with US-Israel defense pact

This would OBLIGATE the US to fight Israel's battles for it, in the Middle East; but in understanding just how difficult Israel finds living among its neighbors without starting wars of aggression against them, is this really where US foreign policy should really be, at this moment in the history of the US relationship with Israel?!?

We are probably going to hear a lot about why such a pact is necessary, to save Israel from its "existential (read: economic) threats" in the region when AIPAC convenes in DC this March, and particularly when Israel's Prime Minister Netanyahu addresses the group.

We already understand the degree to which AIPAC "owns" many of those in the bowels of power in DC; but to enact legislation which insures that, no matter what Israel might have done to cause a problem in the Middle East, that the US military is committed to saving Israel's backside, when it may well be Israel which caused the problem leading to conflict in the first place?!?

This is utterly not good US foreign policy, and will forever confirm, to Israel's neighbors, that the US cannot be a moral force for peace in the region.

Hawkish Senators Demand Twitter 'Obey Sanctions' By Banning Iran's Leaders

At this rate all Iranian media sources and official accounts could soon be banned in the West, leaving journalists without a clue of what Tehran's leaders actually think, and without official statements. The semi-official Fars news English website was knocked offline two weeks ago by US Treasury order (the international server host conformed, making Fars transfer its site hosting to within Iran), but the latest in a growing list of "purges" whether on YouTube or other platforms.

And now US senators are leading the charge to get Iran's leaders banned from Twitter, as The Hill reports:

A group of Republican senators lead by Sen. Ted Cruz (Texas) sent a letter to Twitter on Thursday asking the platform to suspend the accounts of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif to comply with U.S. sanction law.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Why are Cruz, et al, so completely terrified of what the Iranian leadership might have to say in English, that they are demanding this censorship from Twitter?!?

Is it (gasp) possible that this leadership might, on occasion, have something to say which makes absolute sense to a potential US reader?!?

Folks, the short answer, here, has to be "Yes", and Cruz & Company don't want Americans to ever have that happen to them, because Iran has been designated as "the enemy" by a President who can only see this country through the utterly distorted "vision" of one of his BFFs in the Middle East, and that, of course, would be through the jaundiced eyes of Israel's Prime Minister, Bibi Netanyahu.

Iran is NOT an "existential threat" to Israel; it is a financial threat, and therefore, Tel Aviv wants to see its government smashed to smithereens, and this country devolving into tiny statelets with utterly no economic clout whatsoever.

I would encourage the readers of this site to read presstv.com, an Iranian site in their English language version, as long as it remains available on line; the other thing I would suggest you do, and right the heck now, is find and download the following video: Don't Tell Mother I'm In Iran, a charming video by a Jewish videographer, about his visit to that country, and how the Jewish community is thriving in Iran; that is something else Tel Aviv doesn't want Americans knowing about, either.

Trump’s State of the Union address tonight was a laundry list of false and misleading claims. It will take the fact-checkers the better part of the night to identify all of the misrepresentations and spurious claims that the president made as he rattled off one implausible statistic after another. The few references that Trump made to foreign policy issues predictably glossed over the many failures of administration policies. If you knew nothing about the last three years of Trump’s presidency, the picture he painted sounded pretty good. If you have paid any attention at all before now, you realized that the country was being snowed under with an avalanche of lies and half-truths.

The most disingenuous part may have been this section on Iran:

Very interesting!

Iran's move to pull out of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty looks like an invitation to the U.S. to bomb them back to the stone age. But is it? Russian military strategy is predicated on creating cauldrons, encircling an over-confident enemy and cutting off their means of retreat.

Iran's Fars News Knocked Off Web By US Treasury Order

Iran's well-known state media outlet Fars News Agency says US sanctions have knocked it off the internet. As of Friday and into early Saturday the en.farsnews.com domain remained inaccessible while the outlet says it quickly alternately established English content on https://en.farsnews.ir/, which remains live.

Iran says the US Treasury Department shut down international access to its English news site due to new regulations related to US sanctions.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The other "canary in the proverbial coal mine", is presstv.com, another English-language Iranian blog; I would encourage thinking Americans to check it out, even if you don't agree with much of anything these people have to say.

Having said that, you might just be surprised, on those issues where you think that they are making one heck of a lot of sense. :-)

But I always encourage our readers and listeners to read the foreign press in English; it just might give you a better clue as to what your government is up to, rather than bathing yourself in the codswallop the Presstitutes dish out, which is generally some kind of support for a US-government agenda.

IF presstv.com goes down as well, something nasty this way comes, in terms of Iran.

The Real John Bolton

Bolton, who used student deferments and service in the Maryland National Guard to avoid serving in Vietnam, is a classic Chicken Hawk. He supported the Vietnam War and continues to support the war in Iraq. Bolton endorsed preemptive military strikes in North Korea and Iran in recent years, and lobbied for regime change in Cuba, Iran, Libya, North Korea, Syria, Venezuela, and Yemen. When George W. Bush declared an “axis of evil” in 2002 consisting of Iran, Iraq, and North Korea, Bolton added an equally bizarre axis of Cuba, Libya, and Syria.

Here are the lawmakers who defected on Iran legislation

A handful of House lawmakers crossed party lines Thursday on legislation designed to rein in President Trump’s ability to take military action against Iran.

The two measures came to the floor less than a month after Trump authorized an airstrike in Iraq that killed Iranian Gen. Qassem Soleimani, a move largely lauded by Republicans but criticized by Democrats who questioned the constitutionality of the action.

Four Republicans — Reps. Matt Gaetz (Fla.), Warren Davidson (Ohio), Thomas Massie (Ky.) and Trey Hollingsworth (Ind.) — crossed the aisle to support the bill authored by Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) that would block funding for military force in Iran without congressional approval.

US General Claims Iran Plotting Attacks on Americans in Africa

In the wake of tit-for-tat attacks between Iran and the United States, both sides seemingly decided not to further escalate the matter militarily. Despite this, US officials continue to talk up the idea of Iran as a grave enemy, and the end-all, be-all military adversary. The US is accusing Iran of planning attacks in Africa, and diverting humanitarian aid.

But there’s no point in that if you can’t use allegations to drive military policy. To that end, AFRICOM head Gen. Stephen Townsend claimed Iran is plotting to attack Americans in Africa as a way of retaliating over the US assassination of Gen. Qassem Soleimani.

Gen. Townsend claimed there was intelligence behind the claim, but it’s not hard to see where this actually came from. Defense Secretary Mark Esper has been highly publicizing his planned Asia pivot, and has said some of those troops would be transferred from Africa to the area around China.

Webmaster's Commentary:

General Townsend, a word, please; the Iranian leadership may be many things, but blunderingly stupid is not one of them.

And there is one reality which, it appears, which has not generally penetrated the Fog of War in the zeitgeist of the US military; Russia has promised Iran, that if the US attacks it, Russia will come to their aid.
Iran Won't stand alone, if the US attacks it

This was a promise made by a Russian diplomat at a conference in which Iranian diplomats were also present. The article, from last June's Moscow Times (English language edition), went on to state: "“Iran will withstand this type of fight and Iran is not alone,” Zamir Kabulov, the Foreign Ministry’s special envoy for Asian countries including Iran, said at a Russian-Iranian policy forum in Moscow."

So you can make a pretty darned safe bet that this promise came right from Putin through Zamir Kabulov; the guys in Putin's inner circle, won't even fart without Putin's permission.

Rising Numbers of US Troops in Iraq with Traumatic Brain Injuries

What Trump dismissively called “headaches and a couple of other things…not very serious…no Americans…harmed,” the Pentagon admitted otherwise in delayed after-action reports.

After initially saying nothing, then reporting 11 US military personnel evacuated from Iraq with concussion-like symptoms, the Pentagon raised the number to 34, then 50 and now 64, perhaps a larger number to be revealed ahead.

House Votes to Repeal 2002 AUMF, Rein in Trump on Iran War

On Thursday afternoon, the House of Representatives passed a pair of amendments aimed at curtailing President Trump’s war-making ability, particularly as it relates to attacking Iran. The amendments were added to the WW2 Merchant Mariner Gold Medal Act.

The first amendment, passed 228-175, noted that no military action against Iran could take place without prior Congressional authorization. Four Republicans joined most Democrats in voting for the measure, 21 abstained. Though this is legally speaking always the case, recent presidents have claimed the ability to start unilateral wars when Congress doesn’t explicitly preclude them.

Webmaster's Commentary:

It's bloody well time for the US Congress to show some spine, and not be enablers of these wars without end.

The United States: a Record-Holder in Political Assassinations

The crowing by Donald Trump that he “terminated” the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps Quds Force, Major General Qaseem Soleimani, simply because Trump believed, mobster-style, that he had it coming, should remind the world that the United States government stands as the world’s record-holder in either directly carrying out or coordinating with other parties the assassination of political leaders, American and foreign.

FLASHBACK: How Many Millions Have Been Killed in America’s Post-9/11 Wars?

March 23rd, 2018

By Nicolas J.S. Davies

How many people have been killed in America’s post-9/11 wars? I have been researching and writing about that question since soon after the U.S. launched these wars, which it has tried to justify as a response to terrorist crimes that killed 2,996 people in the U.S. on September 11th 2001.

But no crime, however horrific, can justify wars on countries and people who were not responsible for the crime committed, as former Nuremberg prosecutor Ben Ferencz patiently explained to NPR at the time......

Evangelicals Love Donald Trump for Many Reasons, But One of Them Is Especially Terrifying

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who was reportedly instrumental in pushing for the killing of Soleimani, is also a master of such messaging. In March, during an interview in Jerusalem with the Christian Broadcasting Network (founded by another apocalyptic preacher, Pat Robertson), Pompeo showed his familiarity with another Iran-centric Bible story popular with End Times evangelicals. In the story, a Persian king is urged to slaughter the Jews in his kingdom at the urging of the evil adviser Haman. But his Jewish Queen Esther convinces him not to and saves her people. Asked whether he thought Trump could be a modern-day Esther, saving the Jews from Iran, Pompeo replied, “As a Christian, I certainly believe that’s possible.” The secretary of state’s End Times beliefs made headlines again after the Soleimani killing, as meme-makers circulated a quote from a speech he made in a Kansas church in 2015.

Analysis of the Iranian missile strikes on Ayn Al Asad Airbase

Several sources in the past several days have analyzed the Iranian missile strikes on US forces at the Ayn Al Asad Airbase which took place more than two weeks ago on the 8th of January 2020 as a retaliation for the US assassination of the Iranian general Qassem Sulaimani. The reports have focused on several topics and methods ranging from satellite image interpretation, videos of missile launches and incoming missile strikes to analysis of on-site photos of (unexploded) Iranian missiles in and around the targeted airbases in Iraq.

In this analysis we will look closer at the satellite imagery to give us more insight on what happened at the Ayn Al Asad Airbase and to help us answer some questions like what kind of missiles did the Iranians use, what kind of targets did the Iranians aim for (or destroy) and what kind of information can we derive in terms of accuracy of the Iranian missiles.

US stops all weapon deliveries to Iraq, citing security concerns – Air Force spokesman

All US deliveries of weapons and ammunition to Iraqi security forces have been suspended, amid rising tensions over the US presence in Iraq following the drone assassination of Iranian General Qassem Soleimani in Baghdad.

The halt includes the US Air Force’s program of supplying parts and missiles to Iraq’s fleet of F-16 fighter-bombers, the news portal Inside Defense reported on Monday. Deliveries will begin again “when the environment in Iraq is safe enough to resume,” USAF spokesman Brian Brackens told Inside Defense in an email.

Lacking Evidence, Pompeo Blames Iran for Rocket Fire on Baghdad Embassy

Three rockets hit the US Embassy compound in Baghdad on Sunday, and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, in keeping with his foreign policy priorities, was quick to make this all about Iran, despite a conspicuous lack of evidence Iran was in any way involved.

Taliban repel Afghan forces’ attempt to reach US spy plane crash site

The Taliban say they have repelled an attempt by Afghan government forces to reach the site of a crashed US spy plane in Ghazni province.

According to Zabiullah Mujahid, a Taliban spokesman, clashes erupted as the government forces, backed by the US military, tried for the second time to reach the wreckage site in the militants' stronghold.

"Taliban fighters on the ground counted six bodies at the site of the U.S. airplane crash," he said, adding there was uncertainty regarding the total fatality count because the fire had consumed everything.

The American spy plane, a Bombardier E-11A, came down in the central province early Monday.

1/24/20 Stephen Zunes: Today’s US-Iran Crisis Is Rooted in the Decision to Invade Iraq

Podcast with links to several stories.

Stephen Zunes discusses the catastrophic mistake of the U.S. plan to invade Iraq, then “divide and rule” along sectarian lines. Zunes says that although the relationship between Iran and the Iraqi Shiite government is a problem for those who worry about Iranian influence in the Middle East, the irony that everyone seems to have forgotten is that it was the Bush Administration that overthrew the Sunni government there in the first place, essentially fighting against Saddam Hussein on behalf of Iran. Moreover, the only real threat from Iran is to the American soldiers who are there on foreign soil fighting a war we started. We would be far better off if we had just stayed away, a message that Zunes says nearly every Middle East scholar in America could have told you in 2001.

EX-CIA Lawyer: The Soleimani Hit Was a Homicide Under U.S. Criminal Law

This is a high crime an an impeachable offence. Like I have said many times the opposition to Trump is a psyop.

In bragging that he ordered a successful hit on Iranian Maj. Gen. Qassem Soleimani, President Trump has admitted to killing a senior government official of a sovereign state, Iran, while he was traveling in another sovereign state, Iraq. On its face, his conduct and intent satisfy the elements of premeditated murder under Section 1116 of Title 18 of the United States Criminal Code, "Murder or manslaughter of foreign officials, official guests, or internationally protected persons."
18 U.S. Code §?1116. Murder or manslaughter of foreign officials, official guests, or internationally protected persons
