How the GOP Became the Israel Party

Bill Kristol and John McCain have replaced Robert Novak and Pat Buchanan in Republican foreign policy influence.

When the unexpectedly detailed P5+1 framework agreement with Iran was announced last Thursday, Illinois Republican Mark Kirk made a bizarre comment. “We all know” said the senator, that this is going to end with “a mushroom cloud somewhere near Tehran”—a result of Israel having to go to war to “clean up the mess” made by American and European negotiators. A few days earlier John McCain had expressed the wish that Israel “go rogue” and attack Iran in order to upend the Iran negotiations.

IAEA, Iran To Hold Technical Meeting In Terhan On Wednesday

The United Nations’ nuclear watchdog said it and Iran would hold a technical meeting in Tehran on Wednesday.

Iran and six world powers struck a framework agreement this month to curb Iran’s nuclear programme in exchange for easing Western sanctions.

The U.N.‘s International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has said it expected progress this month in its own investigation into Iran’s current and past nuclear activities.

Diplomats have voiced concern there could be little progress on the IAEA investigation until a final political deal with world powers is reached.

How to Deal With the Iranian Genii?

Ahoy! Oil Tankers Form Four-Mile Line In Persian Gulf As Iran Talks Stoke Supply Glut Fears

With the US set to run out of on-land storage in the space of just three months and with the Iran nuclear deal still stuck in “tentative,” “maybe/maybe not,” purgatory (i.e. “we agree on the outline of a plan which will pave the way for an agreement but aren't sure how much of the plan or hypothetical agreement we want to share”), interesting times lay ahead for crude which, in a likely preview of what’s to come, traded in “deal or no deal” mode throughout Thursday’s session. With Tehran sitting on 9% of the world’s proven reserves, the lifting of sanctions and opening of the country’s oil fields to foreign investment could trigger a dramatic decline in crude prices as an extra million bpd gets set to be unleashed on an already saturated market.

Iranians Are Much Talked About on Sunday Morning TV, but Never Heard From

But as these shows “cover” the Iran deal, one thing is glaringly missing: Iranian voices. There has not been a single Iranian official recently interviewed by any of these Sunday morning shows. Partner or Pariah? Kerry Calls Lavrov for Help

Naming and shaming over the Iranian nuclear debacle will call out who just is the real pariah and who is the real partner to world peace.

Reading the Western news media is like swimming in a goldfish bowl. News one day gives way to some other transient story the next, and so on and on. With the result that if one were to rely on the Western media for understanding on any particular issue, there is faint chance of proper assimilation. Kerry reportedly needed Lavrov for help in clinching a breakthrough in the deadlocked nuclear negotiations with Iran.

Six Things You Didn’t Know the U.S. and its Allies Did to Iran

It’s hard for some Americans to understand why the Obama administration is so determined to come to an agreement with Iran on its nuclear capability, given that huge Iranian rallies are constantly chanting “Death to America!” I know the chanting makes me unhappy, since I’m part of America, and I strongly oppose me dying.

But if you know our actual history with Iran, you can kind of see where they’re coming from. They have understandable reasons to be angry at and frightened of us — things we’ve done that if, say, Norway had done them to us, would have us out in the streets shouting “Death to Norway!” Unfortunately, not only have the U.S. and our allies done horrendous things to Iran, we’re not even polite enough to remember it.

US: Iran sanctions to be removed in 'phased manner'

The United States says sanctions imposed on Iran would be lifted in “a phased manner” as part of a final nuclear agreement between Tehran and the P5+1 group of countries.

"Sanctions will be suspended in a phased manner upon verification that Iran has met specific commitments under a finalized joint comprehensive plan of action," State Department spokesman Jeff Rathke said on Thursday.

Webmaster's Commentary:

That was the same thing the US said when the preliminary P5+1 deal was signed, and the US never reduced the existing sanctions. Indeed they increased them, always under the excuse that the US wasn't "sure" Iran was complying with the deal. This is why Iran is demanding all sanctions to be lifted on signing of the final deal, because Iran knows the US cannot be trusted. This announcement is intended to derail any chance of a final deal being made, to open the door for a war to eliminate Iran as a regional economic rival to Israel, to impose a private central bank on Iran, to control which currency Iran's oil is traded for, and with US kids doing the fighting and dying.

Ex-Israeli PM to US: Give Iran 'or else' ultimatum

Barak said he would rather see a peacefully negotiated end to Iran's nuclear threat.

But since the announcement last week of a framework of a deal between Iran and the U.S. and its negotiating partners—Russia, China, France, the U.K. and Germany—there have been conflicting accounts of the extent of the agreement and what it means for the chances of reaching a final accord by the end of June.

Webmaster's Commentary:

We are getting into a real Kafka situation here. Iran doesn't have a nuclear weapons program. Nobody has found any evidence to suggest that they do (although with the US and Israel attacking anyone who doesn't have a nuclear deterrent one could hardly fault Iran for wanting one).

Israel has been screaming that Iran is within weeks of having a nuclear weapon since the 1980s and it hasn't happened yet.

Meanwhile a recently declassified US document confirms that the US Government has known that Israel has had nuclear weapons since the 1970s, numbering in the hundreds, including Hydrogen bombs the US helped Israel develop. Israel (which has not signed the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and does not allow IAEA inspections) has so many nuclear weapons that they offered to sell one to the former government of South Africa; the very activity the NNPT is intended to prevent.

Maybe Israel is simply projecting their own guilt onto others, sort of a "It's okay for us to do it because everyone is doing it" attitude. Maybe after forty years they believe their own propaganda. Or maybe, as Netanyahu recently revealed, Israel knows Iran doesn't have a nuclear weapons program, but the goal is to destroy Iran as a regional political and economic rival to Israel, with US kids in uniform doing the dirty work (as happened in Iraq).

But as nuclear-armed Israel hysterically shrieks about how much danger they face from non-nuclear Iran, keep one thing in mind. Iran has not invaded another nation in a war of aggression in over 200 years; a track record of peace standing in stark contrast to Israel and the US, which these days cannot seem to go six months without invading, drone-striking, or overthrowing other nations.

'Bomb, Bomb, Bomb Iran' McCain Has The Nerve To Call Obama's Foreign Policy 'Immoral'

I have a lot of disagreements with the Obama administration's policies, like the fact that they've basically continued President Bush's so-called "war on terror" and have bought into the idea that if you just drop enough bombs on people's heads from unmanned drones that you're somehow going to get rid of threats to the United States instead of just making them worse. The Patriot Act is still in place. We've done nothing to roll back the surveillance state that was put in place after 9-11 and I could go on and on, but I won't.

That said, one of the very last people I want to hear a lecture from on how the Obama administration has supposedly failed completely at foreign policy is Sen. McCrashy, John McCain, who still needs some anger management counseling over the fact that the uppity Kenyan usurper Barack Obama derailed his plans for being President of the United States.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Bait-and-Switch Sanctioning of Iran

The idea of Iran as a regional marauder that is gobbling up other countries in the Middle East and against which pressure must therefore be unrelenting has become one of the favorite themes of those determined to kill the nuclear agreement with Tehran. As an argument for rejecting the nuclear deal, this approach has always suffered from major factual and logical flaws.

Iran – The Story behind the Story

Allowing a country like Iran destroying the US hegemon’s power base by taking a sovereign decision to abandon the dollar for oil and gas trading – no way.

It would have meant the end of the dollar as the world’s chief reserve currency, and giving up the instrument of coercing the world into accepting Washington’s dictate, the tool that serves to dish out sanctions left and right – no way!

Washington’s seemingly blind and preposterous arrogance drives the closest allies into the ‘adversary’s camp. The FED (Federal Reserve Bank) announced on 2 April 2015 that it fined the German Commerz bank with 1.7 billion US dollars for dealing with Cuba, Sudan and Iran – Washington sanctioned countries.

When even the staunchest stooges of empire seek alliances in the East, the writing is on the wall, that the economic winds are shifting, that a tectonic sea-change is in the offing and that the Iran nuclear deal, one way or another, doesn’t really matter in the foreseeable future.

Foreign intervention wrong reaction to violence in Yemen — Ayatollah Ali Khamenei

Foreign intervention is a wrong reaction to the situation in Yemen, Supreme Leader of Iran Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said on Thursday.
"A foreign intervention is a wrong reaction to internal violence and civil war, especially after catastrophes that happened in Afghanistan and Yemen," he said.
The Ayatollah stressed that Iran is against foreign military intervention in the Middle East, particularly in Yemen. "The only way out of the current humanitarian crisis in the country is immediately ceasing air strikes delivered by Saudi Arabia on the territory of Yemen," Ali Khamenei said.
He also called on Sunnis and Shias "to unite in these difficult times." The Ayatollah added that Iran supports national dialogue in Yemen.

Supreme Leader Warns of Hurdles to Nuclear Deal

Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei warned that there is "no guarantee" of a final deal on the country’s nuclear program. Earlier in the day, President Hassan Rouhani also stated that Iran would not sign a final deal unless sanctions were lifted on the first day of implementation.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is perfectly reasonable for Iran to ask for, given how the United States broke their commitment to easing sanctions on the Preliminary P5+1 deal, and clear indications that Israel's whores in the US Congress are planning to add even more sanctions.

Yemen is the latest casualty of a neoconservative strategy commissioned by the US Army to ‘capitalise on Sunni-Shia conflict’ in the Middle East - the goal is nothing short of ‘Western dominance’

The war on Yemen appears to have been choreographed, by encouraging the Houthis to oust the former regime, with the express intention of creating conflict. It is a pattern which repeats time and time again, most recently with the creation and support of Islamic State (IS, ISIL, ISIS) by Israel, US and their allies including Saudi Arabia. The outcome will, yet again, be chaos and mayhem.

EU reinstates sanctions on Iranian bank and 32 shipping companies

Iranian Bank Tejarat and 32 Iranian shipping companies will be subject to EU sanctions with immediate effect, after measures were thrown out by a European court, Reuters reports.

The EU's second-highest court annulled a EU asset freeze on Bank Tejarat and 40 Iranian shipping companies in January, finding fault with the legal grounds given by the EU. As with previous cases, the EU responded by re-listing the sanctioned Iranian companies, including Hamburg-based Ocean Capital Administration GmbH, on the basis of new legal grounds.

Webmaster's Commentary:

With Iran insisting that sanctions be lifted when the final deal is signed, this adding of sanctions is designed to derail the deal and open a path to war.

Iran news report: Tehran will start using fastest centrifuges on day deal takes effect

Iran will begin using its latest generation IR-8 centrifuges as soon as its nuclear deal with the world powers goes into effect, Iran’s foreign minister and nuclear chief told members of parliament on Tuesday, according to Iran’s semi-official FARS news agency.

If accurate, the report appears to make a mockery of the world powers’ much-hailed framework agreement with Iran, since such a move clearly breaches the US-published terms of the deal, and would dramatically accelerate Iran’s potential progress to the bomb.

AIPAC's "No One Wants War" in Iran Claim Debunked

The problem with saying “no one wants war” is of course that some people do want war. These include some congressional critics, some Israeli officials, some in the pro-Israel movement and some of Iran’s Sunni Arab neighbors. None acts as a monolith, but their beautiful diversity definitely includes some warmongers.

AIPAC, moreover, surely knows this. Sheldon Adelson, a sometime AIPAC funder and partner who remains a major force in the “pro-Israel movement” has for example called for nuking Iran. The group’s stable of regular speakers at fundraisers and events includes several figures who have, indeed, called for war with Iran. Just consider a January AIPAC fundraiser in New York, headlined by Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and former Sen. Joseph Lieberman (I/D-CT)-both of whom have at some point called for military strikes. As Lieberman once boasted, there is a “broad bipartisan base of support” for such an attack.

Israel could send Iran ‘back to the stone age’ with electromagnetic bomb

Israel could destroy Iran’s electric network with a specially designed electromagnetic bomb in the event of a military conflict between the countries, The Sunday Times reported on Sunday.

An electromagnetic bomb of this sort would be detonated above the ground, creating an electromagnetic pulse that would “disrupt all the technological devices working on the ground,” an American expert was quoted as saying to the London paper.

The use of the new technology by Israel was brought up in discussions regarding a possible attack on Tehran’s nuclear facilities, the report claimed. Such a move would send Iran “back to the stone age,” the British paper said.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I think this story of an electromagnetic bomb is a cover for the use of nuclear weapons by Israel against Iran. Unlike any other bomb, which destroys itself as it destroys the target, a theoretical electromagnetic bomb has to maintain its physical integrity during use. Electricity in wire travels at .2 times the speed of light. Any break in the wiring of the coils producing the magnetic field will instantly collapse that field. This limits how much power that can go into such an electromagnetic bomb as it must be able to withstand the magnetic field it produces. In the case of an EMP produced by a nuclear weapon above the atmosphere, loss of the initiating device is not an issue as the EMP is produced not by the bomb itself but by a sudden displacement of the Earth's own magnetic field.

They are proxies, to be sure, for their Washington masters. My heart is bleeding for Yemen, a country of warm and generous people I got to know well, working with them in the 1990s and early 2000s.

The Iran Nuclear Energy Agreement: Force Again Prevails Over Law — Paul Craig Roberts

The real question, however, is on what basis can Iran possibly trust Washington?

Iran should ask former Soviet president Gorbachev what Washington’s word is worth. In exchange for Gorbachev’s agreement to the reunification of Germany, Washington promised Gorbachev that NATO would not move one inch to the East and promptly took NATO to Russia’s border and is now working to incorporate former parts of the Russian empire into NATO.

Iran should ask current Russian president Putin what Washington’s word is worth. Sensing Russian strategic weakness, the George W. Bush regime broke the Anti-Ballistic Missile Treaty that Washington had signed with Moscow. Pulling out of the treaty, Washington quickly put anti-ballistic missile bases on Russia’s borders, hoping to degrade Russia’s strategic missile forces that serve as a guardian against Washington’s first nuclear strike, a policy now permissible under Washington’s revised war doctrine.

Authentic Journalism that Challenges Empire and Its Centers of Power

Exposing Lies of the Empire is a monumental work.

Some years back, I was approached to come up with a story that I’d really like to cover. There were many, but right away I was drawn to a story whose angle was completely marginalized in any media I had checked. I was interested to go to Zimbabwe and get a genuine impression from Zimbabweans of how they view the direction of their country under the government of Robert Mugabe. How they viewed the redistribution of land within the country.

In the case of theft, when the stolen property is recovered, the usually accepted, and rightful, custom is that the property be returned to its rightful owner(s).

Top Donor to Clinton Foundation (jewish) Oligarch in Ukraine

Follow the Money

Between 2009 and 2013, including when Mrs. Clinton was secretary of state, the Clinton Foundation received at least $8.6 million from the Victor Pinchuk Foundation, based in Kiev, Ukraine.

In 2008, Mr. Pinchuk made a five-year, $29 million commitment to the Clinton Global Initiative, a wing of the foundation that coordinates charitable projects and funding for them but doesn’t handle the money. The pledge was to fund a program to train future Ukrainian leaders and professionals “to modernize Ukraine,” according to the Clinton Foundation.

It said that if Mr. Pinchuk was lobbying the State Department about Ukraine, “this cannot be seen as anything but a good thing.”

Oh certainly, all you have to do is take a brief look at Ukraine to see what a wonderful thing it has been.

Featuring special cameos from prominent American Jewish scholar, Dr. Norman Finkelstein, and Palestinian rap legends, DAM, this is an episode for the ages. Join us as we bravely (or perhaps stupidly) take on one of the most bitter, divisive and controversial conflicts of our times: Israel & Palestine.

Corker Says Support Growing to Give Congress Vote on Iran Deal

The Republican chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee said Sunday he’s within a few votes of being able to override a threatened presidential veto of his bill giving Congress a say in any nuclear deal with Iran.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Congress can declare or refuse to declare a war. Short of that, the Constitution states that foreign policy is exclusively the jurisdiction of the White House and the US Department of State. Every member of Congress championing Israel's agenda against Iran is in violation of the Logan Act.

I hope all Americans are watching the Congress as they undermine the office of the Presidency to whore themselves to a foreign leader!

'Skeptical' Canada Won't Lift its Iran Sanctions

The Canadian government has not shared US President Barack Obama's enthusiasm over the deal reached with Iran over its nuclear program last Thursday, by which the Islamic regime continues enriching uranium at reduced levels in exchange for the removal of sanctions.

Canadian Foreign Minister Rob Nicholson responded to the deal, warning that the Islamic regime may still be able to obtain a nuclear weapon even with the agreement.

Mitch McConnell: Congress to 'respond legislatively' to Iran nuclear bill

Fresh off a trip to the Middle East, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is insisting that Congress get a chance to review and approve a nuclear deal with Iran.

"To the detriment of international security […] the Obama administration has always approached the goal of these negotiations as reaching the best deal that is acceptable to Iran, rather than what should be our national goal: ending Iran's nuclear program," the Kentucky Republican said in a statement Monday.

McConnell visited Israel, Jordan, Iraq and Afghanistan last week with a Senate delegation. On Thursday, a framework for a nuclear deal with Iran, the U.S. and five other world powers was announced — much to the dismay of many Republican lawmakers.

The nuclear deal reached with Iran has been cause for celebration in the streets of Tehran, while Netanyahu was offered the platforms of three major U.S. news networks to decry the agreement. Israel recognition not part of Iran deal: Obama

US President Barack Obama says recognition of Israel cannot be a part of the nuclear agreement with Iran.

Obama said in a Monday interview with NPR that requiring Tehran to recognize Israel is a "fundamental misjudgment".

The Israeli regime has outspokenly voiced opposition since talks began between Tehran and the P5+1 –the US, Britain, Russia, China, France, and Germany -- in an effort to reach a comprehensive accord on Iran’s nuclear program.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said earlier that recognition of the regime by Iran must a part of the deal.

Israel details requirements for final nuclear deal with Iran

Israel has created a list of modifications it says are needed in a final deal with Iran over its nuclear program.

The list was presented Monday by Yuval Steinitz, Israel’s minister of intelligence and strategic affairs, to reporters at a hotel in Jerusalem, The New York Times reported.

Steinitz said the modifications to the agreement, which is scheduled to be finalized by the end of June, will make it more acceptable to Israel.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Since the Islamic Revolution in Iran, which overthrew the dictatorship of US-backed Shah in 1979, a constant in US foreign policy has been an unrelenting hostility to Iran. Washington supported Iraq’s former dictator Saddam Hussein´s war against Iran (1980-1988). In 2003, the Bush administration prepared plans for war with Iran. Since 2011, the US and its European Union allies have subjected Iran to the toughest economic sanctions regime in history.

Netanyahu Reiterates: I’m Trying to Kill Iran Deal

Taking to the major American networks today Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu continued railing against the Iran nuclear framework deal, and reiterated his determination to try to kill it.

Netanyahu has repeatedly talked up sabotaging the nuclear negotiations on Israeli media, but this was the first time he was so overt about leading the anti-diplomacy push on US media.

He tried to prevent the push against the current deal as a push for a “better deal,” though that hypothetical deal that Netanyahu might accept is so far-fetched US officials say it wasn’t even worth bringing up at the talks to the other Western nations, let alone Iran.

Webmaster's Commentary:

A memo to Bibi Netanyahu: sir, as the Prime Minister of a nation which has had nuclear weapons for 40 years, as we now understand from the US government's declassification of documents proving the US assisted you in developing those weapons, how do you have the hubristic effrontery to rail against a country which is working with the world to create a framework through which to manage their nuclear energy program?

Iran is a signatory to the NNPT: and Israel, which has developed nuclear weapons, refuses to sign it, or allow its weapons sites to be inspected. Additionally, Israel is not a party to the P 5+1 deal at all.

Right now, the one country which needs to re-assess its position on this deal is Israel, period, end of discussion.

And I would like to suggest that Rivero's Rangers quietly and calmly, and politely contact their Congressional Representatives to say that any attempt to veto this agreements) will demonstrate that they are a representative of a foreign power, and are not addressing the needs and concerns of We the People.

Let them know that you know this is precisely what AIPAC expects, and if that is what they intend to do, their next political campaign will be a complete exercise in futility.

Israel Prepares Lobbying Strategy Against Iran Deal

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's appearances on multiple American TV news programs on Sunday signaled the launch of what is expected to be a furious lobbying effort to scuttle or reshape a deal that he has criticized as "bad" and a threat to Israel's very existence. A document drawn up by experts in Netanyahu's office, obtained by The Associated Press, gives a glimpse of the arguments the Israeli leader is going to raise, targeting vague language in the system of inspections and its failure to address issues beyond the nuclear program.

Benjamin Netanyahu vows to continue quest to derail Iran nuclear deal

Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed to continue his campaign to derail the nuclear deal with Iran even as several leading Republicans suggested they were prepared to give the White House some breathing room to reach a final agreement.

While debate continued in the US, Mohammad Zarif, Iran’s foreign minister, said his country “will be able to return” to its nuclear activities if the West does not honour its agreement to lift sanctions.

The Israeli prime minister has been a vociferous opponent of the talks with Tehran and urged the US Congress to step in and prevent President Barack Obama from making a deal that “endangers our survival”.

Who’s Playing “Hide and Cheat”?

Not surprisingly, the painfully negotiated pact was denounced by Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, who has repeatedly, and illegally, threatened Iran over its alleged desire to build an atomic bomb. But Obama’s rebuff of Netanyahu’s position was well deserved, given Israel’s record of stealing American military secrets and spying on private American talks with its allies.

If Iran had been guilty of such crimes, the American public would now be deaf from the outcry of the Republicans in Congress. Americans need to remember that Jonathan Jay Pollard, an American civilian naval intelligence analyst, pleaded guilty in 1987 to selling classified information to Israel. At least 800 documents were snitched. Pollard, who became an Israeli citizen, sits in a U.S. prison today in Butner, N.C., serving a life sentence. Former Defense Secretary Casper Weinberger said his espionage “would cause the greatest harm to our national security.”

Netanyahu in US media blitz against Iran deal

Obama and his aides have been using the Easter weekend to speak to senators and representatives from both the Democratic and Republican parties in an attempt to persuade them that the proposed agreement with Iran is the most effective way of blocking Iran's path to a nuclear weapon. For Netanyahu, the most important target audience is Democratic legislators torn between their loyalty to Obama and their traditional support for Israel. In the end, it is the Democratic legislators who will decide whether the Senate will be able to override a presidential veto on legislation designed to overturn the deal with Iran.

What we have is a framework, one that will lead to a fuller agreement in June – if Congress doesn’t step in and stop it.

Good News and Bad News

For Israel, there's good news and bad news after Iran deal

Although Iran's nuclear project will be monitored for at least a decade, the deal also grants it recognition as a power to be reckoned with.

HAARETZ: The framework agreement crafted Thursday in Lausanne between Iran and the world powers is a historic step. After nearly 13 years of on-and-off negotiations, a deal aims to stop the progress of Iran’s nuclear program for an extended period.
***
From an Israeli perspective, the relatively good news is that Iran’s nuclear project will be monitored for at least a decade. For now, it seems that during this time Iran’s chances of developing a nuclear weapon will decline significantly.
***
The bad news is not only that Iran’s economy, which has taken a double-barreled blow from both sanctions and declining oil prices, is expected to recover quickly, but that Iran has also achieved recognition from the world powers for two elements it greatly needs. The powers now acknowledge, indirectly, that Iran is a nuclear threshold state, and no less importantly, they accept Iran as a force to be reckoned with throughout the Middle East.

US-Israel Wage War on Iran in Syria

Tony Cartalucci
Activist Post

The ongoing conflict in Syria has always been a proxy conflict aimed at Iran, as well as nearby Russia, and more distant China. As far back as 2007, two-time Pulitzer Prize winner Seymour Hersh warned in his 9-page New Yorker report “The Redirection Is the Administration’s new policy benefitting our enemies in the war on terrorism?” that a region-wide sectarian war was being engineered by the US, Saudi Arabia, and Israel – all of whom were working in concert even in 2007, to build the foundation of a sectarian militant army.

The report would cite various serving and former US officials who warned that the extremists the West was backing were “preparing for cataclysmic conflict.”

In retrospect, considering the emergence of the so-called “Islamic State” (ISIS), Hersh’s warning has turned out to be prophetic...

Israeli Officials ‘Furious’ Over Iran Nuclear Deal

It’s unsurprising given the decades of hostility they’ve shown toward diplomacy in general, but Israeli officials are reacting with outrage at the announcement of a framework deal between Iran and the international community.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who has promised to do everything in his power to prevent an agreement, says that the framework “threatens Israel’s survival” by allowing Iran to keep portions of its civilian nuclear program.

Netanyahu and other officials are insisting the deal guarantees Iran will acquire nuclear weapons within the next year, though of course they have been predicting Iran would do so virtually non-stop since the Iranian revolution.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The question is not what Israeli officials are "feeling", but what they are actually prepared to do to keep this deal from having a chance to survive.

We have about 90 days until the final form of the agreement is supposed to take its final shape; I have to wonder if Netanyahu is actually prepared to mount a military campaign to destroy Iran's reactors; he is just hubristic enough to believe that there will be no consequences, should he make that decision.

Or, will he try something covert, as Israel did with the USS Liberty?!? Will he order some kind of attack on an American ship, and claim it was Iran who was the culprit?!? (But seriously, folks, why in tarnation would the Iranian government and military DO something like that right now, in light of the fact that a preliminary framework for their nuclear energy program has been reached?!?

But should he do this, it would rope the US military into having to support a war against Iran.

Should that happen, Hezbollah will attack Israel from the North; Iran will counter attack, and well.... the big question at that point will be, what will Russia do?!?

I would like to remind Netanyahu that Iran and and Russia have signed a mutual military accord earlier this year; so a war against Iran will most probably be construed as a war against Russia.

I would also like to remind Netanyahu that Iran contains a population of one of the oldest-practicing Jewish communities in the world; any attack on Iran would mean that many of his Jewish brothers and sisters may well get killed in such an attack.

So You Think War With Iran is a Good Idea?

Well, if you really feel that strongly about it..

Here's your rifle..

Here's your parachute..

We ran out of the desert camo, but here is a bright day-glo orange jumpsuit left over from Gitmo..

Watch your head climbing into that transport plane..

And we'll call whoever it is you are telling us needs to be invaded this week and tell them you are on your way to kick their butts all by yourself.

But given the very long history of the United States government and the corporate media lying and tricking us into wars, you will forgive We The People if we sit this one out and keep our children safe at home.

And just in case you are one of those poor government or media people who are not as well educated in history as the average American citizen, here is a comprehensive but by no means complete list of just how many times We The People have been made total fools of by the US Government and the corporate media.

USA and Israel Hypocrisy Behind the Iran Nuclear Agreement

Following the nuclear deal reached in Switzerland, The New York Times editorial board said the “preliminary agreement between Iran and the major powers is a significant achievement that makes it more likely Iran will never be a nuclear threat.”

Explained: 10 short answers to 5 key points on Iran nuclear deal

After 18 months of negotiating, Iran has come to a preliminary agreement with China, Russia, France, UK, US and Germany (P5+1) on Tehran’s nuclear program. But what is Iran giving up to seal the deal and how can it benefit in the long run?

Better a War than an Agreement?

Phyllis Bennis says forces aligned in opposition to the Iran Framework Agreement in the U.S., Israel and Saudi Arabia would rather see war than a deal that brings Iran out of sanctions and back into play as a regional power

Netanyahu: Any final Iran deal must include recognition of Israel’s right to exist

PM says Israel would not accept agreement that gives country that vows to annihilate Israel a nuclear bomb.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Netanyahu's arrogance is showing. First, Iran (and the other nations in the region) have made it abundantly clear they will recognize Israel's right to exist ... one second after Israel recognizes Palestine's right to exist. But as long as Israel maintains a policy of "We have a right to exist but you do not", the situation will deteriorate. Second, Israel is not a party to the P5+1 negotiations, so what Israel rejects has no real meaning, especially since Netanyahu's grandstanding speech to Congress has lost Israel the presumed US veto in all thing United Nations.

Benjamin Netanyahu: Israel Cabinet strongly opposes Iran nuclear deal

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he and his Cabinet are united in “strongly opposing” an emerging framework agreement on curbing Iran’s nuclear program and demanded that any final deal contain Iranian recognition of Israel’s right to exist.

Iran and six world powers announced a series of understandings Thursday, with a final agreement to be reached by June 30. A final deal is meant to cut significantly into Iran’s bomb-capable technology while giving Tehran quick access to assets and markets blocked by international sanctions.

Netanyahu has harshly criticized the negotiations, demanding instead that the Iranian program be dismantled. He claims Iran cannot be trusted, and that leaving certain facilities intact would allow the Iranians to eventually build a bomb. Iran denies it has nuclear weapons ambitions and says its program is intended for peaceful purposes.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Iran cannot be trusted? This from the leader of the nation which has for forty years kept its nuclear arsenal hidden?

Iranian president: World powers accept Tehran's right to enrich uranium

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has said Iran will keep its promises if the other side does, referring to Thursday’s preliminary nuclear agreement.

“The world has acknowledged Iran is pursuing its peaceful objectives,” he said during a press conference on Friday.

Rouhani said Tehran’s nuclear enrichment issue “is not a threat” to any other nation, and if the other sides keep their promises under the deal Iran will too.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The US broke its promises under the P5+1 Preliminary Agreement, and the US is in violation of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty which both Iran and the US (but not Israel) have signed and ratified. Under Article 4, the US is obligated to assist Iran in the building of peaceful nuclear facilities, and if the US was really worried about a secret nuclear bomb factory underneath Iran's power station (like the one under Israels reactor at Dimona, stepping in to help pour the foundations and run the wiring for Iran's nuclear power station is a great way to ensure that it is just a power station. In ignoring their obligations to Iran under the NNPT and using the threat of military force to coerce Iran into surrendering their rights to peaceful nuclear technology under the NNPT, it is the United States which is ignoring its obligations under international law!

Who’s afraid of Iran’s big bad bomb?

Uri Avnery debunks Israel’s fear-mongering regarding Iran’s supposed nuclear threat, and argues that the opportunity for peace with the Arab world and Iran is there if Israel wishes to take it.

BEX Alert - "Iran deal threatens ‘survival of Israel’, increases risk of ‘horrific war’ – Netanyahu"

A nuclear deal with Iran based on current framework will “threaten the survival of Israel”, said PM Benjamin Netanyahu, warning it would increase the risk of a “horrific war.”

In a phone conversation with the US President, the Israeli Prime Minister expressed his opposition to a framework agreement reached with Israel on Thursday.

Netanyahu has once again called for a “better deal” insisting that the only way to reach it would be “standing firm and increasing the pressure on Iran.”

Netanyahu warned that if the final deal due to be signed in June, fell in line with the current framework, it would “increase the risks of nuclear proliferation in the region and the risks of a horrific war.”

BEX Alert - "Gen. Hayden: Obama's Deal Would Give Iran a Nuke Within a Year"

Retired Air Force Gen. Michael Hayden was among many slamming the Obama administration's framework for a nuclear deal with Iran on Thursday, telling Newsmax that it turns Tehran into an "industrial-strength nuclear state" that could have its own weapon within a year.

"It took us 18 months to get to the outline of a framework and now we're going to get to the fine print in what, three months?" asked Hayden, who led both the CIA and the National Security Agency. "That shows you how difficult this is.

"We have just agreed that Iran will be an industrial-strength nuclear state and that it will never be any more than one year away from having a nuclear weapon," he said.

Germans deny signing GOP letter on Iran

Reps. Doug Lamborn, R-Col., and Randy Weber, R-Fla., circulated a letter to world leaders last month that they claimed had been signed by four European lawmakers. Since then, two of the alleged supporters, German parliamentarians Johann Wadephul and Roderich Kiesewetter, have informed Al-Monitor that they were not involved.

“This letter never came to the attention of Dr. Wadephul nor Mr. Kiesewetter and therefore has not been signed by them,” a Wadephul spokeswoman told Al-Monitor via email. The parliamentarian followed up with a formal letter stating he had “at no time signed nor agreed to support” the letter.
