Iran Accuses US of Already Backtracking on Nuclear Deal

"History shows that America must lead not just with our might, but with our principles," President Obama said in a speech. "It shows we are stronger not when we are alone, but when we bring the world together."

But according to a new complaint filed with the International Atomic Energy Agency, Iran feels that the US has already breached its newfound pledge of comradery.

Filed by Iranian Ambassador and Resident Representative Reza Najafi, the complaint refers to statements made by White House press secretary Josh Earnest. These comments occurred during a news briefing on July 17, only three days after a deal was reached.

US Politicians’ Racist Anti-Iranian Remarks Don’t Make Headlines

Imagine a US senator publicly calling the Chinese “evil people.” Imagine a governor saying African leaders are “animals.” Imagine a presidential candidate claiming Latinos are “liars.” In each of these cases, the media would rightfully explode, condemning the politicians for their overt racism.

A notable exception to this, however, exists in the US political system and media establishment: When politicians make ludicrous claims about Iranians, when Republicans deploy orientalist myths about purportedly bloodthirsty Persians in order to sabotage their own government’s attempts at diplomacy, the media largely sit on their hands.

Israeli Military Brass Support Iran Deal

Haaretz reports that an impressive list of top Israeli military brass support the deal with Iran. These military leaders wrote a letter to Netanyahu urging him to support the Iran deal.

Because it’s hard to read names jammed together without any organization, here’s a list of some of the military bigwigs (all now retired) who signed the letter:

Shlomo Gaza, Chief of Intelligence, Major General
Carmi Gillon, Director of Israel Security Agency
Ami Ayalon, Vice Admiral, Director of Israel Security Agency
Itamar Yaar, Colonel Deputy Israeli National Security Council
Arie Pellman, Israeli Security Agency official
Amiram Levin, deputy of the Mossad director, Major General
Itzhak Barzilay, Mossad official
Nathan Sharony, Major General, head of planning for the armed forces

Numerous admirals and generals signed the letter as well:

David Ben Bashat, Vice Admiral
Micha Ram, Vice Admiral
Alex Tal, Vice Admiral

Libya War: What They Don’t Want You to Know

We are taught all our lives that our modern political systems are “by and for the people.” In order to justify taking us to war, then, our misleaders have to convince us that war is not a racket, as General Smedley Butler revealed, and is not for the benefit of the industrialists who sell the munitions or the politicians in their back pocket or the financiers that own them both, but in the interest of the average man or woman. In other words, they lie through their teeth.

Such was the case with Afghanistan, which we were told was all about the hunt for Osama…until it no longer was.

Or in Iraq, which was all about weapons of mass destruction…until it no longer was.

The Iran deal is good for Middle East peace

As the pros and cons of the P5+1 (UN Security Council members plus Germany) deal with Iran are being debated in the US Congress and elsewhere, it is important to look at the larger picture of this historic agreement.

It is true that there are some concerns that a sanctions-free Iran will flex its regional muscle even more after the deal. But the benefits of such a deal outweigh the fear-based perceived risks.

After years of failure on so many fronts, this is the first major breakthrough for international diplomacy.

For the first time in many years, all major world powers worked together for an agreement that pushes nuclear proliferation away.

Iran is Not Biggest Nuclear Cheater–Guess Who Is?

If you think Iran presents the greatest danger of nuclear war today, think again.

It is none other than the United States that has consistently violated the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty—and it’s these violations that are one of the main drivers of the spread of nuclear weapons and the threat of nuclear war across the world.

While some worry about inspecting Iran’s nuclear facilities, Americans should be pushing first for inspecting something nearer to home: the embarrassing and dangerous record of nuclear treaty violations committed by the US and its fellow nuclear states.

Growing signs Schumer will oppose Iran deal

Chuck Schumer is getting an earful from opponents of the Iran nuclear deal.
More than 10,000 phone calls have flooded his office line the past two weeks, organized by a group looking to kill the deal. Another group has dropped seven figures on TV in New York City to pressure Schumer and other lawmakers to vote against the plan. The powerful American Israel Public Affairs Committee has put its muscle behind an effort to lobby the New Yorker against it.
Story Continued Below

And Dov Hikind, a state assemblyman from Brooklyn, was arrested for disorderly conduct while protesting the deal outside Schumer’s office.
People who have spoken with the senior New York senator believe the pressure campaign is having an effect: They say there is a growing sense inside and outside the Capitol that Schumer will vote against the deal when the Senate considers it in September. The bigger question many have now is this: How hard will he push against it?

Webmaster's Commentary:

A short memo to Senator Schumer: sir, let me begin by sharing with you that I have been a very vocal (albeit very peaceful) critic of many of President Obama's policies.

And let me get this out of the way right now: I am a Christian Pacifist.

I believe that good faith negotiations, morally done and honorably concluded, are a much better way to resolve geopolitical issues than is war.

But the issue of the Iran treaty is an issue where the President and I concur.

Is it a perfect deal?!? No, it is not.

But rather than the alternative of a US-led war against Iran, where Russia and probably China may well come to Iran's aid militarily, it is far the better deal than is a war.

And let me explain to you very carefully the outcome of your opposing this deal.

First, your constituents will realize that you are simply a tool of Israel's foreign policy, and in promoting opposition to this treaty, you are putting the needs and concerns of a foreign country above the needs and concerns of your constituents.

Secondly, your party will see this as a stunning betrayal of their President, and look for someone to replace you as quickly as possible in the next elections.

I would like to remind you that in the House Armed Services Committee, there exists legislation to reinstate the draft, for both our young men and young women, penned by the Senior Congressional Representative Charlie Rangel, two years ago.

The fact that the bill has not been killed outright in committee before this time tells me that Congress is waiting for the right "psychological/economic" moment to pass it.

Sir, I would very strongly caution you against the US going to war against Iran, something for which the Israeli government has been advocating for some time now.

And I would like to assure you that the people of this country are both war weary, and war skeptical, after the string of debacles including Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Somalia, and Yemen. With all these military misadventures, the US government and military have experienced serial epic fails in every one of these engagements.

and at this point, the US military is incapable of assuring a positive outcome against either Russia or China, because it doesn't have the troop strength, the money, or the manufacturing to see that this happens.

The US government may spend a lot more money on its war machinery than does Russia or China, but that does not guarantee that the equipment purchased will function magnificently in the field.

Sir, I am asking you to please vote for this deal; the absence of such a deal may well mean war, and the deaths and maimings of hundreds of thousands of our military.

And finally, sir, I entreat you to watch the video (banned by youtube), titled "Don't tell Mother I'm In Iran", which talks about the Jewish community, and how it is flourishing in Iran:

Power in the service of Power

Samantha Power has become something of an expert at Russia-bashing and using fiery rhetoric for her selective political aims at the UN Security Council.

The US, as with other NATO states, has set itself up as jury and judge on the MH17 tragedy, and has already decided on Russia’s guilt over the incident. From the outset, Western governments and media have insinuated that Russia or “Russian-backed rebels” in eastern Ukraine are the perpetrators. The case has already been poisoned with politicized prejudice, without any evidence. As Christopher Black, a respected international war crimes lawyer, has pointed out to this author, the tribunal proposed by the NATO countries would have been used as “a trap” to incriminate Russia and possibly even indict President Vladimir Putin for having ultimate responsibility.

The Masters of the Universe seem to believe that the “pivot to Asia” won’t work if Iran is not part, as a vassal state, of the imperial design for Southwest Asia. Well, listen to Khamenei; that won’t happen.

So what is the Obama administration really up to in Iran? What sort of strategic calculations have led to what for the moment looks like a tactical geopolitical shift?

President Obama certainly concluded that the 36-year-long Wall of Mistrust against Iran was bound to fail. Washington’s Fifth Columns Inside Russia and China

Russia and China finally caught on. It is amazing that the governments of the two countries that Washington regards as "threats" were so tolerant of foreign-financed NGOs for so long.

Americans need to understand that the biggest threat to them resides entirely in the crazed neoconservative ideology of Washington’s hegemony over the world and over the American people, Paul Craig Roberts believes.

It took two decades for Russia and China to understand that “pro-democracy” and “human rights” organizations operating within their countries were subversive organizations funded by the US Department of State and a collection of private American foundations organized by Washington. The real purpose of these non-governmental organizations (NGOs) is to advance Washington’s hegemony by destabilizing the two countries capable of resisting US hegemony.

Erodogan and Netanyahu Declare War

The rulers of the two most powerful authoritarian regimes in the Middle East are launching major wars to reconfigure the Middle East. Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu has declared war by proxy on Iran, announcing full-scale military mobilization within Israel (July 27 -29) and organizing the biggest political campaign of ultra Zionist Jews in Washington. The purpose of this two-pronged propaganda blitz is to defeat the recently signed US-Iranian agreement and start another major Middle East war. Ultimately, Netanyahu intends to take care of his ‘Palestinian Problem’ for good: complete the conquest and occupation of Palestine and expelling the Palestinian people from their homeland – the single most important foreign policy and domestic goal of the Jewish state. In order to do this, Israeli leaders have had to systematically campaign for the destruction of the Palestinians regional supporters and sympathizers – Iraq, Libya, Syria, Lebanon and Iran.

PM to make direct appeal to US Jews in bid to thwart Iran deal

In the latest of a series of attempts to persuade US voters to push their legislators to reject the Iran nuclear deal, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will deliver an address to the North American Jewish community next week to discuss the agreement, which he staunchly opposes.

Webmaster's Commentary:

1. Congress never listens to anything the American people have to say; only to the corporations which fund them, covertly and overtly.

Your friends in the American defense industry, which would LOVE to see the US start a war with Iran, no matter what horrific carnage would happen to both countries, would probably be most helpful here.

2. Opposition to this legislation is NOT veto-proof.

Iran Political Fulmination Versus Diplomatic Deal

Viewers and readers should question polls, whether reported by CNN or Fox or MSNBC with the same vigor the old Chicago News Bureau once counseled, “If your mother says she loves you, check it out”.

Blessings upon New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof for pointing out that “fulmination” is the right word to describe opposition to the diplomatic deal President Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry have just reached with Iran and the P5+1 major world powers.

The P5+1 offers a strong array of international powers. The term P5+1 refers to the UN Security Council’s five permanent members (the P5); namely China, France, Russia, the United Kingdom, and the United States; plus Germany.

The PPP poll finds that “there’s strong support nationally for the Iran deal, that voters want their members of Congress to let it move forward, and that there’s no potential political backlash for members who do support the deal”.

Incongruities in the News — Paul Craig Roberts

Jonathan Pollard, a paid spy for Israel described by Michael D. Shear as “one of the country’s most notorious spies,” has been pardoned from his life sentence.

Pollard is a hero to Israel, not to America, and it is Pollard who is released. Manning, Snowden, and Assange are heroes to America, and they continue to be confined.

What disturbs me about the case is that it is Pollard, who spied for a foreign country, who is released. In contrast, Manning and Snowden who spied for the American people are locked away, Manning in a federal prison and Snowden in his Russian exile. Julian Assange, who merely did his job as a journalist and made available to newspapers documents leaked to him, is confined to the Ecuadoran embassy in London.

Iran to IAEA: U.S. in Material Breach of Nuclear Agreement

Iran has taken action under the terms of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) last week, sending a letter to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) accusing the United States of being in “material breach” of the understandings. The letter (.pdf), which was posted on the IAEA’s website yesterday, cites July 17 statements from White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest as the source of the complaint.

“The military option would remain on the table, but the fact is, that military option would be enhanced because we’d been spending the intervening number of years gathering significantly more detail about Iran’s nuclear program. So when it comes to the targeting decisions that would be made by military officials either in Israel or the United States, those targeting decisions would be significantly informed, and our capabilities improved, based on the knowledge that has been gained in the intervening years through this inspections regime.” [Emphasis added].

Israel Security Establishment Breaks With Bibi on Iran Deal

There’s a deep crack emerging in the veneer of wall-to-wall support offered by Israel’s political leadership to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in his war against the Iran nuclear agreement.

The crack has a name you might recognize: the Israeli security establishment. You know — the folks whose job it is to identify and address threats to Israel’s safety. A small but growing group of high-power ex-commanders has been speaking out in media interviews and op-ed essays in the past few days, saying that Netanyahu has got the Iran issue wrong.

It’s not yet what you’d call an avalanche of dissent. But against the pro-Netanyahu unanimity among the politicians, coalition and opposition alike, the skepticism emerging from the security community stands out in striking relief. As unanimous as the politicians are in backing the prime minister, the generals and spymasters are nearly as unanimous in questioning him. Generals publicly backing Netanyahu can be counted on — well — one finger.

This brings us to the present case.

Did the government of the United States lie to the American people, more to the point, did President Bush and his Neocon associates lie to Congress, to initiate a war of conquest in Iraq?

This question has been given currency by a memo leaked from inside the British Government which clearly indicates a decision to go to war followed by the "fixing" of information around that policy. This is, as they say, a smoking gun.

But the fact is that long before this memo surfaced, it had become obvious that the US Government, aided by that of Great Britain, was lying to create the public support for a war in Iraq.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Before we all start listening to Israel's whores scream about Iran's nuclear weapons, we should remember these same people told us Iraq had nuclear weapons, and even tortured innocent Iraqis to death to "find" them, even though it turned out they had never existed.

WHY IT DOESN'T MATTER IF IRAN HAS A NUCLEAR BOMB

Even if they were pursuing a nuclear weapon (which nobody can prove they are) and even if Iran had long range missiles to strike at America (which they definitely do not) Iran is not going to carry out an unprovoked attack on the United States with a nuclear weapon because any attack with a weapon of mass destruction would be national suicide.

Congressional support for Iran deal solidifies– and Cory Booker pushes back against friendship ultimatums

There have been two important developments in the Iran Deal over the last day or so. 1, There’s growing consensus that the deal is going to go through. Even Leon Wieseltier says his opposition is futile. That’s great news. 2, There’s a growing sense inside the Jewish community that opposing the deal contains a huge liability for pro-Israel forces. That they will be exposed and their power reduced, with the potential loss of Democratic progressives.

Cruz says Iran could set off Electro Magnetic Pulse over east coast, killing 10s of millions

The single greatest threat if Iran acquired even a single nuclear weapon would be that they would place that weapon on a rocket on a ship anywhere up and down the Atlantic and they would fire that rocket straight into the air into the atmosphere and if it got high enough and they could detonate a nuclear war head, it would set off what’s called an Electro Magnetic Pulse, an EMP. An EMP would take down the electrical grid of the entire eastern seaboard.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Of course, Ted "Born in Canada" Cruz doesn't say WHY Iran, a nation that has not invaded another country in a war of aggression in over 200 years, would do such a stupid thing. And please keep in mind that all these people screaming about the Iranian nuclear threat are the same ones who insisted Iraq had nuclear weapons!

Rand Paul: Fraud, Failure, Liar

by Justin Raimondo, July 29, 2015 As the smoke wafted up into the already smoggy Los Angeles air, a group of young libertarians watched as Jayel Aheram burned his “Stand With Rand” t-shirts. He had two of them, a token of his former esteem for the “libertarian-ish” presidential candidate and Senator from Kentucky, whose father had inspired young Jayel to identify as a libertarian and become active in the movement. A former Marine and Iraq war veteran, the now 31-year-old Aheram had phone-banked for Rand, and enthusiastically retweeted the Senator’s pronouncements on Twitter. He had even forked out $35 for those T-shirts – and now they were going up in flames as he and a group of young libertarians sat on the roof of Jayel’s Los Angeles apartment, drinking beer and glumly contemplating what had brought them – all former supporters of Rand Paul’s presidential campaign – to this point. US, EU 'Give Up' Ukraine to Seek Russian Political Support

After inciting the Ukrainian conflict that led the country to a civil war and brought it to the verge of economic collapse, the West has now realized that Ukraine isn’t worth much, at least not as much as establishing a working political relationship with Russia, US political journalist Brian Whitmore said.

The United States and the European Union (EU) are "selling out" Ukraine to Russia to gain the Kremlin's support in dealing with Iran's nuclear program and looking for Moscow's approval of taking out Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad, the Atlantic Magazine reported.

Webmaster's Commentary:

If true, this is an act of desperation by the US/EU to break out of the logjam of wars they are stuck in. The US/EU knows Iran doesn't actually have nuclear weapons. Russia knows it too, and knows that the real goal is for the US to take economic control of Iran's (and everyone else's) oil, which Russia is clearly opposed to. The US/EU have to know this deal to "give" Russia Ukraine is a non-starter, and Putin would be correct to see this as a sign that the US/EU know they cannot continue with military actions is so many nations at the same time.

How China and Russia are running rings around Washington

Let’s start with the geopolitical Big Bang you know nothing about, the one that occurred just two weeks ago. Here are its results: from now on, any possible future attack on Iran threatened by the Pentagon (in conjunction with NATO) would essentially be an assault on the planning of an interlocking set of organizations — the BRICS nations (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa), the SCO (Shanghai Cooperation Organization), the EEU (Eurasian Economic Union), the AIIB (the new Chinese-founded Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank), and the NDB (the BRICS’ New Development Bank) — whose acronyms you’re unlikely to recognize either. Still, they represent an emerging new order in Eurasia.

MAJORITY of Jewish Americans Say Congress SHOULD Vote to APPROVE

Jul 28 10:54

GOP MADNESS EXTRAORDINAIRE

Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee, talking about the Iran nuclear deal, said President Barack Obama will march Israelis “to the door of the oven.”

Huckabee, in an interview Saturday with Breitbart News, evoked Holocaust images of the ovens used to dispose of the bodies of Jews gassed in Nazi concentration camps.

“This president’s foreign policy is the most feckless in American history,” the former Arkansas governor said. “It is so naive that he would trust the Iranians. By doing so, he will take the Israelis and march them to the door of the oven.”

Calling the deal signed earlier this month by Iran and world powers the “most idiotic thing,” Huckabee said the agreement should be rejected by Democrats and Republicans in Congress, “and by the American people.”

“I read the whole deal,” he said. “We gave away the whole store. It’s got to be stopped.”

FLASHBACK - ‘Israel will attack Iran if you sign the deal, French MP told Fabius’

A French member of parliament telephoned French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius in Geneva at the weekend to warn him that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu would attack Iran’s nuclear facilities if the P5+1 nations did not stiffen their terms on a deal with Iran, Israel’s Channel 2 News reported Sunday.

“I know [Netanyahu],” the French MP, Meyer Habib, reportedly told Fabius, and predicted that the Israeli prime minister would resort to the use of force if the deal was approved in its form at the time. “If you don’t toughen your positions, Netanyahu will attack Iran,” the report quoted Habib as saying. “I know this. I know him. You have to toughen your positions in order to prevent war.”

FLASHBACK - Israel tested ‘dirty-bomb cleanup’ in the desert

Israel has carried out a series of tests in its southern desert to measure the effects on its population and environment of a so-called “dirty” bomb attack combining conventional explosives and radioactive material.

The daily Haaretz, reporting Monday on the four-year experiment, said the research concluded that high-level radiation was measured at the center of the explosions, with a low level of radiation dispersal by particles carried by the wind.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Coupled with the major military call-up of Israel's reserve forces, I would not rule out a false-flag attack with a dirty bomb as a pretext for declaring war on ... someone. If they are planning to use radioactive material in the false-flag, then the target is most likely Iran.

But again, look for what should be there and isn't, and what isn't there is a motive for Iran to attack Israel at this time. Iran has negotiated a deal. They are not building a nuclear weapon and the sanctions are to be lifted. Iran has what they want, and no reason to wreck the progress made with any kind of attack. Iran has not launched a war of aggression against another country in over 200 years. Israel, on the other hand, cannot go six months without attacking one of their neighbors, and Netanyahu stated that if the Iran deal went through, we would attack Iran.

Iran Deal Worth More than All U.S. Aid to Israel Since 1948

The Iran deal will provide Iran with a cash windfall as sanctions are eased and assets are unfrozen. The total amount is estimated to be as high as $150 billion. If so, the Iran deal would give more cash to Iran than the $124.3 billion U.S. has given in total aid to Israel since 1948.

Webmaster's Commentary:

There is a major point to be made here. All that money to Israel was taken from the American taxpayers. The money Iran is getting is theirs to begin with, earned by them before being frozen (stolen) by the US sanctions!

Five former U.S. ambassadors to Israel sent a letter to Congress in favor of the Iran nuclear deal.

Nicholas Burns, former undersecretary of state for political affairs and ambassador to NATO, and Frank Wisner, former undersecretary of state for international security affairs and undersecretary of defense for policy, the Times of Israel reported.

“No agreement between multiple parties can be perfect or without risks,” the letter states. “We believe that without this agreement, however, the risks will be much higher for the United States and Israel. We see no fatal flaws that should call for the rejection of this agreement and have not heard any viable alternatives from those who oppose the implementation” of the deal.

"Our ability to carry out that strategy is unchanged," Carter told reporters aboard his plane en route to Tel Aviv.

Poll: American Jews Support Iran Nuclear Deal

The L.A. Jewish Journal commissioned Jewish communal pollster Steven Cohen to poll American Jews on their attitude toward the Iran nuclear deal. The results are startling because they expose a huge divide between the positions of the Israel Lobby and Jewish leadership and the rest of the community. While the Lobby is preparing to spend $50-million or more in an all-out blitz to derail the deal before Congress, American Jews generally support it. Cohen finds that 49% of Jewish respondents support the deal and 31% oppose it. When asked whether Congress should support it, 53% said Yes, 35% No.

Among Jews under 40, the result was 59% in favor and 25% opposed. This confirms a rising generation gap between younger and older Jews around questions concerning Israel. This is a phenomenon that many polls have confirmed, most notably the Pew poll on American Jewish identity.

Huckabee tweets threats from Israel’s enemies to assail Iran nuclear deal

A series of Twitter posts on Sunday night followed a day after Huckabee said that President Barack Obama will march Israelis “to the door of the oven.”

Bolstering his argument of the potential harm the agreement signed by Iran and world powers earlier this month would do to Israel, Huckabee tweeted quotes from Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and Hezbollah’s leader, Hassan Nasrallah, among others.

“It is the mission of the Islamic Republic of Iran to erase Israel from the map of the region,” read one of the posts attributed to Khamenei.

A quote attributed to Nasrallah read: “If they [Jews] all gather in Israel, it will save us the trouble of going after them worldwide.”

Peter Beinart’s Fantasy – Raimondo

Does Beinart really believe the media complex that gives the War Party a guaranteed platform suffers from amnesia? I hardly think so.

Peter Beinart asks some pretty good questions: he wants to know why the same crowd that lied us into war in Iraq isn’t completely discredited when it comes to their opposition to the recently concluded deal with Iran. No, he doesn’t put it quite that way, in part because, by his own admission, he was one of the most enthusiastic cheerleaders for what he now describes as “one of the most important, and damaging, episodes in the history of U.S. foreign policy.” He frames his question this way:

“I have a fantasy. It’s that every politician and pundit who goes on TV to discuss the Iran deal is asked this question first: ‘Did you support the Iraq War, and how has that experience informed your position?’”

Beinart is right to regard this as a fantasy, because it will never happen. Yet he fails to ask why that is.

The War on Conspiracy Realists Continues

British government under Cameron's watch has been an active and willing partner in the Machiavellian strategy of divide and rule in the Middle East spearheaded by the US and Israel.

Obama picked up where Bush left off, flooding Syrian and Libyan insurgent groups with untold largesse and arms, using the corrupted Arab Gulf kingdoms as conduits for weapons transfers for the sake of plausible deniability.

ISIS themselves have mostly eschewed hostility towards Israel, posting an official statement on social media in July 2014 saying that they’re more interested in fighting “Muslim infidels” than the Zionist state.[6]

Israeli officials have expressed similar sentiments, with Israel’s former envoy to the US,Michael Oren, stating in a September 2013 interview that Tel Aviv “prefers” ISIS and al-Qaeda over the “bad guys backed by Iran,” namely Syria’s Assad and Hezbollah.

Jewish Democrats Must Choose Obama or Israel

There are 18 Jewish legislators acting on behalf of the Democratic Party in the US Congress, and they are perhaps the key to victory on both sides - for both opponents of the agreement with Iran and its supporters.

"Everyone is looking for us," Rep. Alan Lowenthal (D - California), who is Jewish, told Arutz Sheva. "Last week I met with a J Street lobby that tried to explain how good the agreement is at this point in time, and next week AIPAC officials will be here - I guess to push exactly the opposite position."

Lowenthal faces a difficult dilemma.

"You have to make a decision regarding the transaction, and the situation is very tense. On the one hand Israel says the deal is not good, on the other hand the president says so."

Alan Lowenthal and another 17 like him will be forced to make the painful decision between loyalty to Israel and loyalty to US President Barack Obama's Democratic party.

Iran nuclear-free, but U.S. sends A-bombs to Italy

“Today is a historic day and it is a great honor for us to announce that we have reached an accord on the Iranian nuclear solution, to make our world safer.” Federica Mogherini, European Union high representative for foreign and security policy, said this in Vienna on July 14.

Almost simultaneously, another announcement arrived from the United States: “The U.S. Air Force and National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) have conducted the first flight test of the jointly developed B61-12 guided nuclear bomb from a Boeing F-15E Strike Eagle at the Tonopah Test Range in Nevada.” (flightglobal.com, July 10) This weapon will soon replace the U.S. nuclear bomb called B61, with between 70 and 90 of them stored in Aviano and Ghedi Torre, part of an arsenal of at least 200 nuclear weapons stored in Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands and Turkey.

Anti-Iran Deal Groups Backed by $145 Million

A high-profile list of U.S. non-proliferation, nuclear policy, Iran, and national security experts welcomed last week’s announcement of a deal between the P5+1 and Iran to curb Tehran’s nuclear program. Opponents of the deal, meanwhile, will make a last-ditch effort to derail the agreement reached in Vienna. They will use the 60-day congressional review period to pressure members of Congress, many of whom owe their seats to casino magnate Sheldon Adelson, to vote to reject the deal.

The groups leading this charge may be coming from a point of disadvantage. After all, it’s a tall task to convince Congress to sabotage an agreement negotiated by the U.S., as well as its closest European and NATO allies. But the budgets behind these groups will no doubt amplify their voices, giving them an outsized influence during the next two months.

Obama officials tell Haaretz: Netanyahu would reject any Iran deal - except capitulation

Senior administration officials in Washington said on Wednesday they had reached the conclusion that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was not interested in any nuclear arrangement with Iran – except for one in which Tehran completely capitulates but is denied sanctions relief in return.

War-mongering has blown up in Netanyahu's face

Netanyahu exaggerated the imminent nuclear threat as much as possible. Remember how many times, over the years, he cited Iran as being only six months away from a bomb? He gave the impression that Israel was prepared to take matters into its own hands by striking Iran's nuclear facilities, even without US backing. Initially, however, most analysts, including US officials, believed he was simply bluffing.

There were many reasons why the United States didn't take Netanyahu's early threats seriously. For one, Israel's capacity for sustained long-distance military operations remained limited. More important, even substantial US strikes were seen to have the capacity only to delay Iran's nuclear programme - not stop it.

Republicans, pro-Israel groups step up campaign against Iran deal

Top Republicans vowed Wednesday to do their utmost to scrap President Barack Obama's nuclear deal with Iran as the biggest pro-Israel lobby prepared for an all-out campaign to pressure wary lawmakers into rejecting the agreement.

A bigger push against last week's historic accord in Vienna was being met with a counteroffensive by senior Obama administration officials, who have already spent hours on in-person and telephone briefings with members of Congress.

Secretary of State John Kerry, Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz and Treasury Secretary Jack Lew briefed the entire House of Representatives and Senate in separate closed-door sessions on Wednesday and will defend the deal at a public Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing on Thursday.

The Fine or the Crude Art of Window Dressing – Hypocrisy at its Best

It is simply tit for tat and it is part of the window dressing routine that both sides have to engage in for a long while.

In the meantime, again we are being told by the Administration officials and the mass media that Iran continues to be the world’s biggest supporter of terrorism and is busy destabilizing the region by backing the Assad regime in Syria, the Shi’a militia in Iraq, and the Houthis in Yemen.

An exchange between US Ambassador to the UN and her Iranian counterpart is another example of the post-nuclear-agreement Cold War between the United States and the Islamic Republic:

The Iranian administration, reading and hearing the foregoing rhetoric on a daily basis, is certainly not going to take all the allegations and insults without reacting in kind. Both sides must remain actively engaged in window dressing and face saving charade for some time.

One Way to Handle the Crisis in US-Russia Relations

What we are witnessing is the rise of a new wave of the most dangerous arms race with totally unpredictable consequences.

At the moment it is unrealistic to expect a speedy improvement in US – Russia relations. This is to be regretted, but it is a fact: these relations have reached perhaps the lowest point and are even worse than during Soviet times – a really disturbing development.

The general public is aware that both nations are facing off on the political, economic, and informational fronts. However, they also confront each other in yet another area which is only followed by a narrow circle of experts, though it bears directly on the most important security issues facing the whole planet.

The reference is, of course, to major arms control treaties. These took many years and tremendous efforts to negotiate, and yet they now dissolve one after another.

Israeli-occupied US Congress seeks war with Iran: Analyst

The Zionist lobby in the United States is using its tremendous influence in Congress to place Israel’s interest ahead of America’s, including launching more conflicts in the Middle East and trying to derail any nuclear agreement with Iran, a political commentator in Los Angeles says.

“You’ve got an Israeli-occupied US Congress that had pushed for the Iraq war for Israel,” said James Morris, editor of America-hijacked.com, a blog charting the influence of the Jewish lobby.

“And those same Israel-first Jewish neoconservative want a war with Iran and the way they think they can get that done is by derailing the Iran deal with their proxies in the US Congress,” Morris told Press TV on Wednesday.

“They’re nothing but traitors to America, pushing another war for Israel vs. Iran like they did with Iraq,” he added.

Framing Iran: Thomas Friedman’s War Wish

Certain facts must be kept in mind. Iran has never had a program designed to build a nuclear bomb. You wouldn't know from his column that Iran is a party to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), subjecting it to intrusive inspections for many years. During those years the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has unfailingly certified that Iran has diverted not one uranium atom to military purposes ... The nonthreat has been affirmed by U.S. and Israeli intelligence ... Unlike Iran, Israel refuses to sign the NPT and allow IAEA inspections. In other words, Iran has been demonized and framed.

Obama Calls for Release of US Citizens Detained in Iran

Tehran should release US citizens detained by the Iranian government and assist in finding an American who went missing in the country, US President Barack Obama said on Tuesday at the 116th Veterans of Foreign Wars national convention in Pittsburgh.

“Journalist Jason Rezaian should be released, pastor Saeed Abedini should be released, Amir Hekmati, a former sergeant in the US Marine Corps, should be released,” Obama said. “Iran needs to help us find Robert Levinson."

Netanyahu’s self-serving scare tactics: Why his Iran fear-mongering is riddled with contradictions

Prime Minister Netanyahu’s scare tactics aren’t a revelation of Iran’s power but of his own weakness in terms of the deal’s ratification. He expects the American people to believe impossible things about the Iranians. It’s not that there’s a single dictator like North Korea’s Kim Jong-un, who could be imagined perhaps to break with reality and commit suicide via nuclear. No, Netanyahu wants us to believe that a vast network of actors—the ayatollahs and the president and their advisors and staffs, the negotiators for the recent deal, their own staffs, et al—are all waiting for the day when they can end the comfort and power and wealth they’ve worked so hard to gain. To say that it strains credulity is an understatement. How much of what Netanyahu says is similarly overblown? Israel does face threats from groups at its borders. How do we evaluate those threats as Netanyahu describes them now that his capacity for insane hyperbole is fully known? Is Hamas the threat he says it is?

Iran Agreement Boosts Peace, Defeats Neocons

The agreement has reduced the chance of a US attack on Iran, which is a great development. But the interventionists will not give up so easily. Already they are organizing media and lobbying efforts to defeat the agreement in Congress. Will they have enough votes to over-ride a presidential veto of their rejection of the deal? It is unlikely, but at this point if the neocons can force the US out of the deal it may not make much difference. Which of our allies, who are now facing the prospect of mutually-beneficial trade with Iran, will be enthusiastic about going back to the days of a trade embargo? Which will support an attack on an Iran that has proven to be an important trading partner and has also proven reasonable in allowing intrusive inspections of its nuclear energy program?

AIPAC and Its “Better” Iran Deal

Say Congress rejects this deal. Then Obama vetoes it. Then, in no small part because of AIPAC’s balls-to-the-wall lobbying against the deal, Republican hawks manage to peel off enough Democrats to override the veto. Then Obama is blocked by law from waiving Iran sanctions, and the nuclear deal collapses before implementation even begins. The big question: Then what?

AIPAC insists that the “alternative to this bad deal is a better deal,” but how does one get there? One way would be to say to the Iranians, Uh, hey guys. That was tough for you, but you gotta give us more, because of the Israel Lobby. But that’s not going to work: the 20 months of talks since the signing of the interim accord in Geneva—which AIPAC did not publicly object to—were a painstaking affair marked by compromises and concessions.

British Royal Nazi Salute – a Sign of the Times

A photograph published on its front page by British tabloid newspaper The Sun has caused a storm of controversy, with the British monarchy denouncing it as an invasion of privacy. But the real significance is that the image shows how Western so-called democracies were – and still are – so close to embracing fascism.

There was a consensus among Britain’s ruling class during the 1930s that quietly but enthusiastically endorsed Hitler and fascism as a bulwark against democracy and socialism in particular.

The Nuclear Agreement; Fantasies vs Facts

Iranians are celebrating the prospects of a long awaited relief from the economic pain that the sanctions had imposed upon the nation. While they blame the United States government for what they believe to have been an unjustified and unfair treatment, they are divided as to what the true motivating factors could have been behind America’s animosity toward Iran.

The majority opinion points to America’s insatiable appetite for a hegemonic control over the region and its energy resources. A much smaller segment of the population comprising of the more educated elites, believe that Israel and its Zionist supporters in the United States have been at the helm and steering America’s foreign policy in the Middle East toward Israel’s preferences, even at the expense of America’s own strategic interests.

Saudi Foreign Minister Threatens Iran with Confrontation after Nuclear Talks Breakthrough

Ostensibly angered by the successful conclusion of nuclear talks between Iran and six world powers, the Al Saud regime has threatened to “resolutely” confront the Islamic Republic over any alleged “mischief” in the region.

Following a Thursday meeting with US Secretary of State John Kerry in Washington, Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir said Riyadh is “committed to confront” the Islamic Republic should Iran “try to cause mischief in the region.”

He made the comments only two days after Iran and the P5+1 states reached a conclusion on the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) in the Austrian capital city of Vienna.

The success of Iran-P5+1 nuclear talks is viewed by political experts as a major blow to Israel and Saudi Arabia, who have been the two major critical voices seeking to throw a monkey wrench in the diplomatic process.

Webmaster's Commentary:

A short memo to Saudi foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir: Sir, kindly cool your jets, as we say in our colloquial American English!

As those who read this blog know very well; there are many issues where President Obama and I do not agree. But on this P5+1 breakthrough, I think there is room for cautious optimism.

I hope time and history will prove this to have been a sound move, on the part of the US and Europe.

Unfortunately, there are many in the region who see war against Iran as preferable to this deal, including the Israeli government.

But this time, should Israel just haul off and attack Iran, let it be with their own soldiers and hardware exclusively.

And we in the US will just sit back, eat our popcorn, and watch the fireworks.

DM: Israel Expects Significant US ‘Compensation’ After Iran Pact

The latest in a long line of Israeli officials railing about the P5+1 nuclear deal with Iran, Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon talked up the idea that it posed a major threat to Israel, and meant the nation has to prepare a military option against Iran, as though Israel hasn’t been doing that for decades.

More importantly, Ya’alon become the first Israeli official to publicly talk about the actual end-game in all of this for Israel, a massive “compensation” package by the US government to Israel to placate them after the Iran deal.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Memo to Israeli Defense Minister Ya'alon: the American people have gotten extraordinarily tired of the demands, bullying, and blackmail the American government has received from the fully nuclear armed, viciously apartheid, theocracy which is what Israel has become in the 21st century.

And we have one word for you: enough!!

We will provide you no more American military to get slaughtered or maimed for life in the process of "neutralizing" all your alleged existential threats in the Middle East. And of course, as we both know, that includes all of your neighbors in the region.

And on top of that, sir, we would appreciate it greatly if the US government immediately pull all financial and military aid from your country immediately, as all this aid is completely illegal under the Symington Amendment.

We the people would like to see this accomplished and immediately, sir. The days of the host/parasite relationship between the Us government and that of Israel may well be coming to a very abrupt halt, and it is damn well about time, sir!!!

Why President Hillary Clinton WOULD Go To War With Iran

Clinton started out innocently enough, saying: ‘Based on the briefings I received and a review of the documents, I support the agreement because it can help us prevent Iran from getting a nuclear weapon’. Continuing, she said that the ‘agreement can make the United States, Israel and our Arab partners safer’.

She then went on to say that ‘the message to Iran should be loud and clear: we will never allow you to acquire a nuclear weapon; not just during the term of this agreement – never’. Why exactly does she believe the United States should be directing the internal affairs of a sovereign country?

Then, she really went off the deep end:

‘Signing is just the beginning. As president I would use every tool in our arsenal to compel rigorous Iranian compliance.’

‘Just the beginning’?!

Greece’s Lesson For Russia

Greece’s lesson for Russia, and for China and Iran, is to avoid all financial relationships with the West. The West simply cannot be trusted. Washington is committed to economic and political hegemony over every other country and uses the Western financial system for asset freezes, confiscations, and sanctions. Countries that have independent foreign policies and also have assets in the West cannot expect Washington to respect their property rights or their ownership. Washington freezes or steals countries’ assets, or in the case of France imposes multi-billion dollar fines, in order to force compliance with Washington’s policies. Iran, for example, lost the use of $100 billion, approximately one-fourth of the Iranian GDP, for years simply because Iran insisted on its rights under the Non-Proliferation Treaty.

Pepe Escobar:- Historic Iran nuke deal resets Eurasia’s ‘Great Game'

A good summary of the Iran deal from Pepe the people's roving reporter.
I liked this dig from Lavrov.

"Lavrov added that Moscow expects the cancellation of Washington’s missile defense plans, after the Iran deal proves that Tehran is not, and won’t be, a nuclear “threat.”

There’s the rub. The Pentagon simply won’t cancel an essential part of its Full Spectrum Dominance military doctrine simply because of mere “diplomacy.”

It's handy that Putin morphed into an evil dictator when he did. Full Spectrum Dominance in now back on track.

Israel signals may ask for more US military aid over Iran deal

Imagine my shock. Israel asking for more money!

AIPAC backing group that plans to press Democrats on Iran deal through TV ads

The American Israel Public Affairs Committee is backing an action committee that plans to run TV ads across the country pressing Democrats to oppose the Iran nuclear deal.

Citizens for a Nuclear Free Iran is a 501 (c) (4), a tax designation that includes groups that advance political causes, and it launched its website on Friday.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Funny how the IRS didn't stall their tax-exempt status!

Senators fear Obama may bypass congress to work with U.N. on Iranian deal

Samantha Power, U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, has circulated the draft for a U.N. resolution that would end international sanctions on Iran once the International Atomic Energy Agency verifies its compliance with a deal curbing its nuclear program. But a bi-partisan letter was sent from a Republican chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and a ranking Democrat on that committee to President Barack Obama on Thursday saying their committee must review the Iranian deal before it's brought to the U.N.

David Rubin - Five Reasons to Attack Iran

As details of the agreement with Iran continue to emerge, it becomes more and more evident that the deal is an existential danger to the survival of the State of Israel. While it is seems clear that US President Barack Obama will be preparing a compensation package to placate Israel and other concerned nations in the Middle East, this will only increase the arms race in the region, thereby making nuclear conflict more likely, as the Persian Gulf nations will now feel compelled to achieve nuclear capability to counter the Iranian threat.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Okay, David, if you really feel that way about it... Here's your rifle. Here's your parachute. We ran out of the desert camo but here's a bright da-glo orange jumpsuit from the CIA's torture centers. Watch your head climbing into that transport aircraft, and we will call Tehran and tell them you are on your way to kick their butts all by yourself.

But We The People remember the lies about stolen incubators that tricked us into the first invasion of Iraq.

We The People remember the lies about Saddam's nuclear weapons, echoed by Netanyahu, that tricked us into the second invasion of Iraq.

We The People remember how only a year ago Obama and Kerry tried to trick us into war with Syria with more lies about poison gas.

We The People remember how there weren't really torpedoes in the Gulf of Tonkin or a Spanish mine in Havana Harbor, but how there really WERE weapons on board the Lusitania.

We The People remember how Israel lied about the Lavon affair and the attack on the USS Liberty

We The People remember how Israel has been screaming that Iran is just six months away from a nuclear weapon ... since the 1980s.

Israeli newspaper from 1984, "Iranian nuclear bomb enters final manufacturing phase"

We The People remember that Iran has not launched a war of aggression against another nation in over 200 years, and we remember that the US and Israel cannot seem to go six months without bombing or invading someone!

In short, We The People remember all the lies, frauds, and deceptions used to trick us into wars of conquest, to send our young people out to die in wars created out of thin air by and for the money-junkies and for Israel. I think it is time that we have a new rule; that those who want war are the first to the front lines. You are splendidly brave with the lives of other peoples' children. Let's see the true measure of your courage and commitment to war.

You first!

US ‘to boost’ military aid to Israel after Iran nuclear deal

The US has offered to increase military aid to Israel by another $1.5 billion per year to ease tensions over the nuclear deal with Iran, media has reported. Defense Secretary Ash Carter is expected to make the offer during next week’s visit to Tel Aviv.

Iran’s Long-Game Diplomatic Strategy

Iran has sought negotiations with the U.S. for two decades, but both Democratic and Republican administrations favored hostility demanded by Israel and Saudi Arabia.

Now that Iran nuclear deal is completed, the attention of Western news media and political commentators is predictably focused overwhelmingly on the opposition to the agreement within the U.S. Congress and from Israel and the Saudi-led Sunni Arab coalition.

That media lens misses the real significance of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, which is that Iran succeeded in negotiating an agreement with the United States that upheld its national right to a nuclear program despite the obvious vast disparity in power between the two states. That power disparity between the global hegemon and a militarily weak but politically influential regional “middle power” has shaped not just the negotiating strategies of the two sides during the negotiations but, more importantly, how they came about in the first place.

Who’s Next for Berlin’s Financial Blitzkrieg?

The financial terms dictated to Athens over the latest so-called bailout is nothing less than the subjugation of a sovereign country to the dictate of German banks. The troubling question for several European states is: who’s next?

Israel Intends Blitzkrieg Against Iran Nuclear Deal

It's got media scoundrel editors concerned. New York Times ones support the deal with reservations, saying:

"(N)o one should have any illusions about Iran, which considers Israel a sworn enemy; often condemns the United States; supports Hezbollah and other terrorist organizations; and aspires to greater influence in the region." and fiscal policies.

When the CIA First Overthrew a Government…

62 years later, the aftermath is still troubling global politics. Operation Ajax was a pivotal moment in US and world history. It was the first time the CIA overthrew a government. -- Yet even today the US government would rather not talk about it. That’s why it remains an unknown story for many Americans.

Iran’s First Post-Shah President Says Iran’s Theocracy Is ‘Despotic’

Abolhassan Bani-Sadr, the Sorbonne-educated economist who was the first post-Shah President of Iran — from 4 February 1980 until he was impeached by parliament on 21 June 1981 for his performance as Commander-in-Chief during the Iran-Iraq War — was interviewed July 15th by Nathan Gardels of Huffington Post, and referred to Iran’s theocracy as “despotic.” He said that the deal the Obama Administration has worked out with Iran “is a capitulation to outside powers by the regime of the ayatollahs that has brought this fate upon the Iranian people.”

Israel Intends BlitzkriegAgainst Iran Nuclear Deal

It's got most House and Senate members convinced. It's working on others directly and through its Lobby - applying their usual heavy-handed pressure.

Webmaster's Commentary:

All Israel can do is take the US out of the agreement with Iran, thereby proving once again to the rest of the world that Washington DC is a puppet ruler ruling this nation for Tel Aviv. What will then happen is that the other members of the P5 will make their own deals with Iran, and it will be the US caught on the outside, cut off from Iranian oil and markets.

Iran Deal Heads Toward Showdown With Adelson’s GOP

The Iran nuclear deal announced in Vienna yesterday means that the tough international negotiations between the P5+1 and Iran are finally over. But now attention shifts to the 60-day period during which Congress has the option of voting to approve or disapprove the agreement or doing nothing at all. A resolution of disapproval, as Obama most recently warned yesterday, will provoke a presidential veto. At that point, the question will be whether the opponents can muster the necessary two-thirds of members in both chambers of Congress to override, effectively killing by far the most promising development in U.S.-Iranian relations since the 1979 revolution.

AIPAC Vs THE WORLD

AIPAC called on Congress to reject the Iran nuclear deal, saying it does not meet critical markers that the influential pro-Israel lobby outlined in recent weeks. But the liberal Jewish Middle East lobby J Street announced a multimillion-dollar campaign to support the agreement.

The American Israel Public Affairs Committee made its case against in a statement Wednesday delivered after President Barack Obama conducted a news conference of more than an hour defending the deal achieved a day earlier.
