PM to make direct appeal to US Jews in bid to thwart Iran deal

In the latest of a series of attempts to persuade US voters to push their legislators to reject the Iran nuclear deal, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will deliver an address to the North American Jewish community next week to discuss the agreement, which he staunchly opposes.

Webmaster's Commentary:

A short memo to Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu:

1. Congress never listens to anything the American people have to say; only to the corporations which fund them, covertly and overtly.

Your friends in the American defense industry, which would LOVE to see the US start a war with Iran, no matter what horrific carnage would happen to both countries, would probably be most helpful here.

2. Opposition to this legislation is NOT veto-proof.

So sir, what do you intend to do when the Iran treaty is ratified by the US Congress?!? That is a question which keeps me up at night.

What has been going on in occupied Palestine in many ways is crime against humanity

Israeli soldiers have killed a 17-year-old Palestinian boy on the Gaza border. The incident happened when a group of youngsters approached the border fence and started throwing stones at soldiers who responded with live fire. The teenager’s death follows an arson attack in the West Bank in which a Palestinian toddler was burned alive. A huge crowd gathered on Friday night to mourn the boy’s death.

Houses, hotel and shops approved on land of Islamic cemetery

Israeli officials have approved the construction of a massive complex which will include 200 houses, shops and a 480 room hotel in Jerusalem. The problem is this; the land that the complex will be built upon is already part of an Islamic cemetery. Although the land cited for the build is already home to a car-park and school, earlier excavations showed that bones and graves remain underneath.

FLASHBACK - U.S. Suspected Israeli Involvement in 1960s Missing Uranium

Declassified documents from the 1970s provide new evidence that federal officials believed bomb-grade uranium that disappeared from a Pennsylvania nuclear facility in the 1960s was likely taken for use in a clandestine Israeli atomic-weapons program.

The documents, obtained earlier this year through public-records requests by a Washington-based nonprofit group, also indicate that senior officials wanted to keep the matter under wraps for fear it could undermine U.S. Middle East peace efforts.

Candidate for U.S. House Advocates Peoples Takoever

Because I love America enough to stand up and speak the hard truths I had no choice but to persist to report what Vanunu told me in June 2005:

Did you know that President Kennedy tried to stop Israel from building atomic weapons? In 1963, he forced Prime Minister Ben Guirion to admit the Dimona was not a textile plant, as the sign outside proclaimed, but a nuclear plant. The Prime Minister said, ‘The nuclear reactor is only for peace.’

Kennedy insisted on an open internal inspection. He wrote letters demanding that Ben Guirion open up the Dimona for inspection.

The French were responsible for the actual building of the Dimona. The Germans gave the money; they were feeling guilty for the Holocaust, and tried to pay their way out. Everything inside was written in French, when I was there, almost twenty years ago. Back then, the Dimona descended seven floors underground.

VANUNU'S PHOTOS OF DIMONA - 1985

Mordechai Vanunu brought his camera to work in late 1985, shortly before leaving his eight-year stint as a technician at Israel's nuclear weapons factory at Dimona.

Acting on his conscience, he carefully took about 60 photos of the top-secret labs and unique production processes involved. When some of these photos were originally published in the London Sunday Times' exposé, they confirmed his eyewitness testimony about the extent of Israel's nuclear weapons program and revealed Israel to be one of the world's top nuclear powers. To this day, the Israeli government refuses international inspection of Dimona and continues to deny the existence of its nuclear arsenal.

Iran has signed a historic nuclear deal – now it’s Israel’s turn

Iran’s push for a ban on weapons of mass destruction in its regional neighbourhood has been consistent. The fact that it precedes Saddam Hussein’s systematic use of WMDs against Iran (never reciprocated in kind) is evidence of the depth of my country’s commitment to this noble cause. And while Iran has received the support of some of its Arab friends in this endeavour, Israel – home to the Middle East’s only nuclear weapons programme – has been the holdout. In the light of the historic nuclear deal, we must address this challenge head on.

It does not matter that the Obama administration can count on the combined efforts of the so-called E3 ambassadors (Britain, France and Germany) in Washington, who are exhausting themselves to explain the obvious: This is an international treaty, already approved by the United Nations, and not a parochial squabble decided in Idaho.

Israel Security Establishment Breaks With Bibi on Iran Deal

There’s a deep crack emerging in the veneer of wall-to-wall support offered by Israel’s political leadership to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in his war against the Iran nuclear agreement.

The crack has a name you might recognize: the Israeli security establishment. You know — the folks whose job it is to identify and address threats to Israel’s safety. A small but growing group of high-power ex-commanders has been speaking out in media interviews and op-ed essays in the past few days, saying that Netanyahu has got the Iran issue wrong.

It’s not yet what you’d call an avalanche of dissent. But against the pro-Netanyahu unanimity among the politicians, coalition and opposition alike, the skepticism emerging from the security community stands out in striking relief. As unanimous as the politicians are in backing the prime minister, the generals and spymasters are nearly as unanimous in questioning him. Generals publicly backing Netanyahu can be counted on — well — one finger.

Israeli Diplomat: Maintaining German Guilt About The Holocaust Helps Israel

The Israeli ambassador, Yakov Hadas-Handelsman, was present for some of the briefing, as were other embassy workers who don’t speak Hebrew. One journalist commented, “It was so awkward. We couldn’t believe our ears. We’re sitting there eating peanuts, and behind the spokeswoman there are two German women sitting there who don’t understand a word of Hebrew – and the embassy staff is telling us they’re working to preserve the German guilt feelings and that Israel has no interest in normalization of relations between the two countries.”

Talking to Haaretz, Farjon made the usual distinction between Jews and ‘goyim.’ “It was an off-the-record conversation, a briefing talk. The way I speak with Israeli journalists is a little different. These things aren’t intended to get out.”

"This is a suspected attack with nationalist motives," Samri said. It was the worst attack by Israeli extremists since a Palestinian teen was torched to death a year ago.

MSM avoids central Pollard question: Did Israel trade secrets to Soviets for emigres?

The reason that Pollard was kept in prison for so long is that American authorities knew that he had taken a vast amount of US intelligence, including a top secret manual detailing methods for the collection of intelligence around the world. Former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld is adamant that Pollard shouldn’t be freed; he publishes a letter he wrote to his boss George W. Bush in 2001, in which he was joined by seven former Defense Secretaries opposing Pollard’s release.

The Times has ignored the Soviet question here and here. The Washington Post ignored it in the main news story and in a followup story on the extent of Pollard’s damage. Politico merely touches on it. Tim Phelps in the LA Times gets to it nine paragraphs down in his story:

Palestinian Baby Burned to Death After Settlers Set Fire to Home

A one-and-a-half year-old Palestinian baby was burned to death and three of his family members were seriously wounded late Thursday night after a house was set on fire in the village of Douma, near Nablus. According to reports, settlers were those who set the house on fire after targeting it with firebombs and graffiti. The Israeli military called the attack "Jewish terror."

According to Ghassan Douglas, the Palestinian Authority official in charge of monitoring settlement activity in the northern West Bank, several settlers threw firebombs into the house and spraypainted graffiti reading "revenge" and "long live the Messiah" before fleeing. At least six people were stabbed at Jerusalem's annual Gay Pride Parade on Thursday.

Police confirmed that the suspected stabber is Yishai Shlissel, a Haredi man from Modiin Ilit who stabbed three participants in the 2005 Gay Pride march. He was recently released from prison after serving a 10-year sentence. Shlissel was convicted of attempted murder and aggravated assault and was sentenced to 12 years in prison. Cruz says Iran could set off Electro Magnetic Pulse over east coast, killing 10s of millions

The single greatest threat if Iran acquired even a single nuclear weapon would be that they would place that weapon on a rocket on a ship anywhere up and down the Atlantic and they would fire that rocket straight into the air into the atmosphere and if it got high enough and they could detonate a nuclear war head, it would set off what’s called an Electro Magnetic Pulse, an EMP. An EMP would take down the electrical grid of the entire eastern seaboard.

Israel accused of killing 75 children during day of 'carnage' and war crimes in Gaza war

Using interviews, video footage, photographs and other evidence the researchers pieced together a timeline of events concluding that the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) “Hannibal Directive” had been enacted.

The controversial military procedure could be the subject of criminal investigation in Israel, where officials admitted it was enacted on the day of Lt Goldin’s disappearance.

Under the directive, Israeli forces can respond to the capture of a soldier with intense firepower which some analysts have claimed aim to kill the soldier rather than let them fall alive into enemy hands.

New Report Finds 'Strong Evidence' of Israeli War Crimes in Gaza

Amnesty International says its new report provides "some of the most compelling evidence yet" that Israel committed war crimes during its attack on Gaza last summer.

Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee, talking about the Iran nuclear deal, said President Barack Obama will march Israelis “to the door of the oven.”

Huckabee, in an interview Saturday with Breitbart News, evoked Holocaust images of the ovens used to dispose of the bodies of Jews gassed in Nazi concentration camps.

“This president’s foreign policy is the most feckless in American history,” the former Arkansas governor said. “It is so naive that he would trust the Iranians. By doing so, he will take the Israelis and march them to the door of the oven.”

Calling the deal signed earlier this month by Iran and world powers the “most idiotic thing,” Huckabee said the agreement should be rejected by Democrats and Republicans in Congress, “and by the American people.”

“I read the whole deal,” he said. “We gave away the whole store. It’s got to be stopped.”

FLASHBACK - ‘Israel will attack Iran if you sign the deal, French MP told Fabius’

A French member of parliament telephoned French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius in Geneva at the weekend to warn him that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu would attack Iran’s nuclear facilities if the P5+1 nations did not stiffen their terms on a deal with Iran, Israel’s Channel 2 News reported Sunday.

“I know [Netanyahu],” the French MP, Meyer Habib, reportedly told Fabius, and predicted that the Israeli prime minister would resort to the use of force if the deal was approved in its form at the time. “If you don’t toughen your positions, Netanyahu will attack Iran,” the report quoted Habib as saying. “I know this. I know him. You have to toughen your positions in order to prevent war.”

FLASHBACK - Israel tested ‘dirty-bomb cleanup’ in the desert

Israel has carried out a series of tests in its southern desert to measure the effects on its population and environment of a so-called “dirty” bomb attack combining conventional explosives and radioactive material.

The daily Haaretz, reporting Monday on the four-year experiment, said the research concluded that high-level radiation was measured at the center of the explosions, with a low level of radiation dispersal by particles carried by the wind.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Coupled with the major military call-up of Israel's reserve forces, I would not rule out a false-flag attack with a dirty bomb as a pretext for declaring war on ... someone. If they are planning to use radioactive material in the false-flag, then the target is most likely Iran.

But again, look for what should be there and isn't, and what isn't there is a motive for Iran to attack Israel at this time. Iran has negotiated a deal. They are not building a nuclear weapon and the sanctions are to be lifted. Iran has what they want, and no reason to wreck the progress made with any kind of attack. Iran has not launched a war of aggression against another country in over 200 years. Israel, on the other hand, cannot go six months without attacking one of their neighbors, and Netanyahu stated that if the Iran deal went through, we would attack Iran.

Iran Deal Worth More than All U.S. Aid to Israel Since 1948

The Iran deal will provide Iran with a cash windfall as sanctions are eased and assets are unfrozen. The total amount is estimated to be as high as $150 billion. If so, the Iran deal would give more cash to Iran than the $124.3 billion U.S. has given in total aid to Israel since 1948.

Milk firm may be flouting EU rules on trade with Israel’s settlements

An Israeli milk company may be sidestepping EU restrictions on dairy imports from Jewish-only settlements in the occupied West Bank.

New research demonstrates that Tnuva, a leading Israeli food firm, is processing milk from settlements that violate international law.

Who Profits?, a group monitoring the occupation, has filmed trucks collecting milk from the West Bank and bringing it to a Tnuva factory in Rehovot, a city inside present-day Israel.

As Tnuva exports to the EU, the evidence raises questions about whether it is breaching the Union’s rules.

NBA players on anti-BDS propaganda tour to Israel

In an interview with The Electronic Intifada today, Zirin said that the point of the basketball players’ tour “is very explicit” – to fight the boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) movement.

The tour was organized in part by Israeli NBA player Omri Casspi, who has started a foundation intended not to bolster youth programs in the US, as other athletes might do, but rather to fight BDS and promote Israel’s image.

Anti-Palestinian extremist and major Republican Party bankroller Sheldon Adelson flew the group out on his private jumbo jet.

Christian community to be divided by new section of Israel’s wall

The Israeli high court ruled this month that the military can begin construction on a segment of Israel’s wall in the West Bank that will divide land belonging to the town of Beit Jala.

The news shocked residents who believed that a high court ruling in April this year blocked construction in that area while the army was ordered to find a less disruptive route.

If built as originally planned, the wall would have cut off the Cremisan Salesian monastery and convent from the rest of the Beit Jala community.

With this latest ruling, construction will proceed with only minor changes — still dividing the land while carving out a small enclave to keep the religious sites accessible.

Pentagon chief Carter in Israel seeks deeper military ties

U.S. Defense Secretary Ash Carter said Sunday he has no expectation of persuading Israeli leaders to drop their opposition to the Iran nuclear deal, but will instead emphasize that the accord imposes no limits on what Washington can do to ensure the security of Israel and U.S. Arab allies.

"Our ability to carry out that strategy is unchanged," Carter told reporters aboard his plane en route to Tel Aviv.

The Obama administration reserves the right to use military force against Iran if necessary, he added, although the nuclear deal is intended to preclude that by resolving the issue diplomatically.

IDF calling up hundreds of thousands for emergency-readiness war drills

Large-scale military drills have been launched in Israel with the aim of testing the IDF’s readiness to go into emergency mode. Hundreds of thousands of reserve soldiers are involved in testing the system.

They will all be receiving a telephone call to confirm everything is in working order, according to the General Staff’s plan for the drills, set to last for three days.

Thousands of others will be summoned to bases on short notice, according to the Jerusalem Post. An IDF source told the newspaper that this is “one of the largest telephone call-ups we’ve had in an exercise.”

“We want to ensure that the system is well-oiled and working."

Israeli Attack on Al-Aqsa Mosque, 10 Wounded

At least 10 Palestinian worshipers on Sunday morning were injured during clashes with Israeli police private units, after they broke into and severely assaulted Al-Aqsa mosque. The clashes are still ongoing.

Private units in the morning broke into the mosque, vandalized it, threw rubber-coated metal bullets on the worshipers and assaulted some youths. In addition, more than 250 settlers have broke into the mosque from Al Magharba gate.

4 Israeli border guards were injured in the clashes. Two of them were moved to hospital for treatment, and had light injuries.

Poll: American Jews Support Iran Nuclear Deal

The L.A. Jewish Journal commissioned Jewish communal pollster Steven Cohen to poll American Jews on their attitude toward the Iran nuclear deal. The results are startling because they expose a huge divide between the positions of the Israel Lobby and Jewish leadership and the rest of the community. While the Lobby is preparing to spend $50-million or more in an all-out blitz to derail the deal before Congress, American Jews generally support it. Cohen finds that 49% of Jewish respondents support the deal and 31% oppose it. When asked whether Congress should support it, 53% said Yes, 35% No.

Among Jews under 40, the result was 59% in favor and 25% opposed. This confirms a rising generation gap between younger and older Jews around questions concerning Israel. This is a phenomenon that many polls have confirmed, most notably the Pew poll on American Jewish identity.

Huckabee tweets threats from Israel’s enemies to assail Iran nuclear deal

A series of Twitter posts on Sunday night followed a day after Huckabee said that President Barack Obama will march Israelis “to the door of the oven.”

Bolstering his argument of the potential harm the agreement signed by Iran and world powers earlier this month would do to Israel, Huckabee tweeted quotes from Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and Hezbollah’s leader, Hassan Nasrallah, among others.

“It is the mission of the Islamic Republic of Iran to erase Israel from the map of the region,” read one of the posts attributed to Khamenei.

A quote attributed to Nasrallah read: “If they [Jews] all gather in Israel, it will save us the trouble of going after them worldwide.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

Huckabee has gone way over the top with this "ovens" crap, but he is clearly trying to prove he can kiss Israel's ass better than Hillary, and Huckabee may be thinking that outrageous statements like this will garner him more media attention (which it has) and drive Trump out of the headlines (which it has not).

It’s time for American Jews to recognize they have been duped

As a long-time activist for Palestinian rights and an anti-Zionist, I should have been pleased to read that American Jews increasingly question their knee-jerk support for Israel. But instead, I felt a familiar frustration. Jewish American support for Israel has always been vital for Israel and not just for economic reasons. Among other things, Jewish American money and corporate support have been fundamental to Israel’s creation and to its infrastructure, and they enabled the development of Israel’s thriving hi-tech sector. But Israel also relies on Jewish American support for its feelings of legitimacy. As long as American Jews support Israel ‘right or wrong’, Israel feels justified in its existence and in everything it does.

ISRAEL EXPLOITS SYRIAN CHAOS TO PLAN LOOTING OF GOLAN OIL

The Afek oil and gas exploration company has almost completed its second drilling test in the Golan Heights, a part of Syria which Israel has occupied since 1967 and annexed in violation of international law.

The test is part of a three-year program to see if hydrocarbons in the area could lead to oil or gas for Israel.

Israel is fuel-poor and its domestic energy woes could be eased in the interim if the government progresses on deals in relation to the Tamar and Leviathan gas fields in the Mediterranean Sea.

In addition, Israel is now taking advantage of the chaos in Syria to look for precious resources to extract from the occupied Golan Heights.

Genie Oil and Gas has some high profile investors and advisors: Media baron Rupert Murdoch, former US Vice President Dick Cheney, American hedge fund manager Michael Steinhardt and British investment banker Jacob Rothschild are all members of the company’s “Strategic Advisory Board.”

Jewish Democrats Must Choose Obama or Israel

There are 18 Jewish legislators acting on behalf of the Democratic Party in the US Congress, and they are perhaps the key to victory on both sides - for both opponents of the agreement with Iran and its supporters.

"Everyone is looking for us," Rep. Alan Lowenthal (D - California), who is Jewish, told Arutz Sheva. "Last week I met with a J Street lobby that tried to explain how good the agreement is at this point in time, and next week AIPAC officials will be here - I guess to push exactly the opposite position."

Lowenthal faces a difficult dilemma.

"You have to make a decision regarding the transaction, and the situation is very tense. On the one hand Israel says the deal is not good, on the other hand the president says so."

Alan Lowenthal and another 17 like him will be forced to make the painful decision between loyalty to Israel and loyalty to US President Barack Obama's Democratic party.

Webmaster's Commentary:

On Iran Congress Risks Alienating Europe

Members of Congress opposing the Iranian nuclear deal don’t seem to care that it’s a multilateral agreement their longest-serving European allies support. Europeans are far from impressed that the US legislature has taken hostage the diplomatic roadmap on the nuclear file that they played a critical role in negotiating. GOP Republicans have clearly attempted to shift the debate from a vote on the terms of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) announced last week to one on the US presidential legacy and US-Iran relations. If Congress derails the JCPOA before it’s even had a chance to be implemented, it will likely have troubling ramifications for US relations with a long-term ally, Europe, particularly on future sanctions.

Israel’s attorney general to probe Netanyahus’ spending

-Israel’s attorney general has ordered a criminal investigation into excessive spending at Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s residences.

In February, Israel’s state auditor, the State Comptroller, revealed that a few of the taxpayer-funded running costs at Netanyahu’s official and private residences from 2009-2013 were excessively high, and called for steps to improve efficiency.

The Attorney General has requested inquiry into allegations that the official couple sent furniture bought for the Premier’s official residence to their holiday home in Caesarea, and that they used public money to pay an electrician to work at that property.

Netanyahu’s wife has also come under fire for her lavish tastes and abusive behavior against servants. Cleaning expenses at their private home averaged $2,100 a month in public money, even though the couple rarely stays there.

It also said they pocketed proceeds from recycling bottles that had been purchased for entertaining official guests.

New Illinois law does not make BDS illegal

Though it says the Illinois law is “troubling,” Palestine Legal points out, importantly, that it does not make Israel boycott activism, advocacy or engagement illegal.

Rahul Saksena, staff attorney with Palestine Legal, told The Electronic Intifada today that “boycotting Israel is a constitutionally protected right that cannot be taken away by state law.”

“While we should oppose any government action against BDS [the Palestinian-led boycott, divestment and sanctions movement], we want to emphasize that the new Illinois law does not prohibit anyone, including students, from boycotting Israel or advocating for BDS,” Saksena said.

MEGA BEX ALERT!!! - "U.S. Preparing to Release Convicted Israeli Spy Jonathan Pollard, Officials Say"

The Obama administration is preparing to release convicted Israeli spy Jonathan Pollard from prison, according to U.S. officials, some of whom hope the move will smooth relations with Israel in the wake of the Iran nuclear deal.

Such a decision would end a decadeslong fight over Mr. Pollard, who was arrested on charges of spying for Israel in 1985 and later sentenced to life in prison. The case has long been a source of tension between the U.S. and Israel, which has argued that a life sentence for spying on behalf of a close U.S. partner is too harsh. Israel has for years sought Mr. Pollard’s early release, only to be rejected by the U.S.

Now, some U.S. officials are pushing for Mr. Pollard’s release in a matter of weeks. Others expect it could take months, possibly until his parole consideration date in November.

Pollard is the only American ever to receive a life sentence for passing classified information to an ally of the U.S.[4] Israeli officials, American and Israeli activist groups, and American politicians who see his punishment as unfair have lobbied continuously for reduction or commutation of his sentence.[5] The Israeli government issued a formal apology to the U.S. for part of its role in Pollard's espionage in 1987,[6] but did not admit paying for the documents until 1998.[7] Since the arrest, Israel has made repeated attempts through both official and unofficial channels to secure Pollard's release, but without success. Israeli think tank with GOP ties at center of Iran deal opposition

With the U.S. Congress beginning hearings on the nuclear accord with Iran, Israeli opponents of the agreement are readying a full-court press to persuade that the deal has too many loopholes that would allow Iran to build a nuclear weapon.

“We will make our voice heard,” Foreign Affairs Ministry spokesman Emmanuel Nahshon told McClatchy. “We will not miss an opportunity to tell our side of the story because it is our moral duty.”

One Israeli think tank at the center of the campaign is the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs, whose largest donor is U.S. casino magnate and Republican benefactor Sheldon Adelson.

Kerry: If Congress rejects Iran deal, world will blame Israel

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry told the Council on Foreign Relations think tank on Friday that should Congress rejects the nuclear deal with Iran, Israel might find itself more isolated and "more blamed by the international community."

Also on Friday, Kerry said in an interview with NBC that it would be a "huge mistake" for Israel to take unilateral military action against Iran.

Leader Of Iran’s Jewish Community Calls Netanyahu ‘Delusional’ Over Iran Deal

Haroun Yashayaei, leader of Iran’s Jewish community, took to the local media to strongly criticize the Israeli leader and voice his support for the Iran deal.

The opinion piece, titled “Your Time Is Over, Mr. Netanyahu,” was originally published in Iran’s Shargh Daily shortly after the nuclear deal was announced and appeared last Thursday in an English translation on IranReview.org. Yashayaei, who is chairman of the board of the Tehran Jewish Committee, was blunt about his views on Netanyahu:

Israel could use dirty nuke in false flag attack in US: Ex-CIA contractor

Israel is testing dirty nuclear bombs in its deserts which could be used in a "false flag" attack in the United States to implicate Iran, a former CIA and NSA contractor says.

“One has to wonder if they [Israelis] feel that the momentum for realizing ‘greater Israel’ is going away, and if the world opinion is shifting, which clearly it seems to be… [then] we have to be concerned with a false flag attack on the United States in order to justify a retaliatory strike against Iran,” said Steven D Kelley.

“We know that this Israel is actually testing dirty nuclear devices in their desert right now, and we know this has no strategic value other than to be used as a terrorist device in a false flag attack,” he added. “So this is a very dangerous time.”

Kelley made the remarks after Israel’s ambassador to the United States Ron Dermer called on Republicans in Congress to reject the nuclear accord.

Training Israel's cyber warriors

Graduates of the cyber warfare course in the Computer Services Directorate have built a model city they use to rehearse diverse missions like halting the cooling process in a nuclear reactor, remotely taking over trains and traffic lights to cause accidents, taking control of stock exchange computers, cutting electricity, disabling radar systems at airports, and even taking control of anti-air missile systems in order to fire them at cities they were meant to protect.

The IDF is looking towards the war of the future.

Reviewing Trashy Hasbara against BDS

Definitely not ‘civilized’ western nations, their governments, churches and media, nor Arab countries shackled to US dollars. Palestinians are, moreover, abandoned by a spineless UN, and betrayed by the treason of the Palestinian Authority that collaborates with Israel. Apart from BDS friends and actions, Palestine is alone.

Wrong on the Facts, Wrong on the Law: Israeli’s False Claims of “Self-Defense” in Gaza War

Public relations campaigns based on self-defense have been critical to Israeli officials avoiding accountability after each of the six major assaults on Gaza since Israel withdrew its settlers from Gaza in 2005. Notwithstanding the reports of war crimes committed by Israeli forces, the remarkable success of those self-defense based public relations campaigns continued to provide Israeli officials with impunity: the freedom to strike militarily again.

Anti-Iran Deal Groups Backed by $145 Million

A high-profile list of U.S. non-proliferation, nuclear policy, Iran, and national security experts welcomed last week’s announcement of a deal between the P5+1 and Iran to curb Tehran’s nuclear program. Opponents of the deal, meanwhile, will make a last-ditch effort to derail the agreement reached in Vienna. They will use the 60-day congressional review period to pressure members of Congress, many of whom owe their seats to casino magnate Sheldon Adelson, to vote to reject the deal.

The groups leading this charge may be coming from a point of disadvantage. After all, it’s a tall task to convince Congress to sabotage an agreement negotiated by the U.S., as well as its closest European and NATO allies. But the budgets behind these groups will no doubt amplify their voices, giving them an outsized influence during the next two months.

Facebook not only considers Jewish areas of Judea and Samaria (Shomron), but also parts of Jerusalem and the Golan Heights, as outside of Israel, according to exposé published Sunday.

However, a great deal of the State of Israel is not considered within Israel’s borders, according to Channel 2.

Areas within the desired country are usually shown ‘highlighted’, whereas areas outside that country’s borders are greyed out, they explained.

Obama officials tell Haaretz: Netanyahu would reject any Iran deal - except capitulation

War-mongering has blown up in Netanyahu's face

Netanyahu exaggerated the imminent nuclear threat as much as possible. Remember how many times, over the years, he cited Iran as being only six months away from a bomb? He gave the impression that Israel was prepared to take matters into its own hands by striking Iran's nuclear facilities, even without US backing. Initially, however, most analysts, including US officials, believed he was simply bluffing.

There were many reasons why the United States didn't take Netanyahu's early threats seriously. For one, Israel's capacity for sustained long-distance military operations remained limited. More important, even substantial US strikes were seen to have the capacity only to delay Iran's nuclear programme - not stop it.

Republicans, pro-Israel groups step up campaign against Iran deal

Top Republicans vowed Wednesday to do their utmost to scrap President Barack Obama's nuclear deal with Iran as the biggest pro-Israel lobby prepared for an all-out campaign to pressure wary lawmakers into rejecting the agreement.

A bigger push against last week's historic accord in Vienna was being met with a counteroffensive by senior Obama administration officials, who have already spent hours on in-person and telephone briefings with members of Congress.

Secretary of State John Kerry, Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz and Treasury Secretary Jack Lew briefed the entire House of Representatives and Senate in separate closed-door sessions on Wednesday and will defend the deal at a public Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing on Thursday.

No "Compensation" to Israel for Iran Deal

In The Joys of Yiddish, Leo Rosten defined chutzpah as "that quality enshrined in a man who, having killed his mother and father, throws himself on the mercy of the court because he is an orphan." Today we have a new paradigm for chutzpah: the Israeli government's demand for "compensation" from the American taxpayers for the Iran nuclear agreement.

Israel’s Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon told the Times of Israel that during U.S. Defense Secretary Ash Carter's visit the Israeli government would discuss “the compensation that Israel deserves in order to maintain its qualitative [military] edge” over Iran. The Obama administration of course is amenable.

Why does Israel deserve compensation (in addition to its $3 billion in U.S. aid every year)? If anything, Israel should compensate American taxpayers!

Webmaster's Commentary:

Whatever it is that did or did not happen in Germany before we were born, America was not to blame. Whatever it is that did or did not happen in Germany before we were born, America sacrificed much blood and treasure to stop. If Israel believed their own stories, one would think there would be some inkling of gratitude, perhaps an offer of compensation to all the families that lost their primary breadwinners on the battlefields of Europe. But Israel does not act like it has anything to be grateful for at all. Indeed their attitude is "We have decided that you did not do enough, that you did not spend enough, that not enough of you died in WW2, and therefore you are obligated to continue giving us money in perpetuity!" The US already gives way too much to Israel, having created a well-armed aggressor nation with an unshakeable sense of racial superiority, and didn't we already have enough of that in the aforesaid WW2? Worse, the current version of the "We are better than everyone else" club is armed with nuclear weapons! They don't need our help; they are just greedy!

Bernie Out of The Closet:Sander's Longstanding Deal With the Democrats

by Paul Street

I am glad that the left intellectual and activist Chris Hedges does not support the Bernie Sanders campaign for the Democratic Party presidential nomination. As Hedges explained in a recent interview on the Ralph Nader Radio Hour, Sanders’ candidacy lends undeserved credibility to the thoroughly corporatized Democratic Party. Sanders has pledged that he will support the corporatist military hawk Hillary Clinton in the 2016 general presidential election. Sanders stirs up legitimate progressive energy and popular anger and then “funnels it back into a dead political system,” Hedges observes. Sanders fails to confront the American Empire and military state, and, Hedges adds, has unforgivably “abandoned the Palestinians and given carte blanche to Israel.”

Donald Trump gives Israel political bear hug in midst of 'Mexican rapist' backlash

Jul. 3, 2015

“The only [candidate] that’s going to give real support to Israel is me,” he told JNS.org. “ The rest of them are all talk, no action. They’re politicians. I’ve been loyal to Israel from the day I was born. My father, Fred Trump, was loyal to Israel before me. The only one that’s going to give Israel the kind of support it needs is Donald Trump.”

And if he was the best thing for Israel, the current U.S. president, he charged “is one of the worst things that’s ever happened to Israel. I think he’s set back [Israeli] relations with the United States terribly, and for people and friends of mine who are Jewish, I don’t know how they can support President Obama. He has been very bad for Israel.”
