THOUGHT FOR THE DAY!

"Imperialism today is taking place in the context of...the 'universalization' of capitalism. It is not now primarily a matter of territorial conquest or direct military or colonial control. It is not now a matter of capitalist powers invading non-capitalist powers in order to bleed them dry directly and by brute force. Now it is more a matter of ensuring that the forces of the capitalist market prevail in every corner of the world (even if this means marginalizing and impoverishing parts of it), and of manipulating those market forces to the advantage of the most powerful capitalist economies and the United States in particular." ... "Military force is still central to the imperialist project, in some ways more than ever."-- Political scientist Ellen Meiksins-Wood, Z magazine Nov 1999, p26

SO, JUST WHAT ARE THEY GOING TO DO WITH THAT TRILLION?

Here is the Cliff Notes version of the economic disaster.

1. The banks and investment houses made up a bunch of products and sank their investors' money into them.

2. The banks and investment houses couldn't convince you to buy those products.

3. The banks and investment houses got the government to FORCE you to buy those products.

Any questions?

THAT TRILLION?

poorrichard

It seems like a nice time to start a Really Big War. That war will shield the American population from the bad news of all these financial disasters, that they don't want to hear about.

Yep.. That's what we need is a really , really big war to get everybody to forget that they are being swindled by "our politicians" and the Fed.

That will work.. The dumb public will forget all about the derivative's forthcoming quadrillion dollar bailout, coming out of their paychecks... Only one third of American corporations pay any income taxes. So the money will come out of people's wages. A thousand trillion dollars sounds like real money. The derivatives have started to unravel, that's what all these bailouts are about.

Inflation is the way out for the Fed.. A ton of hundred dollar bills for a cigarette anyone?.

The wheels have fallen off the wagon, just as it went over the cliff.
