Slaughtering the men, women and children you illegally occupy and daily humiliate…It’s the new ‘self defence’

I mean, would a British government be mad enough to illegally occupy its next door neighbours for nearly 50 years, trash their heritage, steal their resources, move settlers into choice locations, cage the natives within the sealed remnants then bomb them all to hell and back for firing garden-shed rockets? Wellyes, I guess a Cameron government might do exactly that if told to… and call it self defence just like their Israeli buddies.

Hundreds of Japanese hold silent protest for Gaza

Some 500 people on Monday staged a silent protest in Tokyo against the bloodshed in Gaza, the biggest such gathering in the Japanese capital since the violence began early this month, organizers said.

As night fell demonstrators holding candles formed huge letters spelling "Gaza" in a city park, and offered a one-minute prayer for victims of the violence in the Palestinian territory.

Some waved Palestinian flags while others carried signs reading: "Stop the killing in Gaza. Japan cares."

Gaza is under fire, while Arab regimes are 'fighting' each other

Israel prefers Egyptian mediation to accomplish the truce in Gaza Strip since the Egyptian government shares Israelis with hostility toward Hamas, but Palestinian resistance --including Hamas-- rejected the proposed Israeli-Egyptian truce because it completely adopts Israeli demands . Meanwhile, Qatari and Turkish governments have suggested another truce's draft carries some of Palestinian demands. The Qatari-Turkish suggestion triggers anger of Egyptian government which keeps the 'coldest' relations with Qatar after ousting former Egyptian president Mohammad Morsi, and the diplomatic Egyptian-Turkish relation has been frozen, because the Turkish government did not recognize the new Egyptian regime and considered it 'military coup'.

MSNBC contributor Rula Jebreal took issue with the network's coverage of the conflict in the Middle East on Monday.

Israel accused of using flechette weapons on Palestinian civilians

The Israeli military has been accused of using flechette shells during its offensive in Gaza, which can cause widespread harm and death to civilians. The weapons, though legal in Israel and internationally, have been slammed as inhumane by rights groups.

The munitions are normally fired by tanks and contain thousands of small darts, which are released when the shell explodes in midair. The flechette shells are only four centimeters in length.

PLO’s Hanan Ashrawi: ‘Deliberate Massacre’ in Gaza

An emotionally wrought Hanan Ashrawi calls on the world to act immediately in defense of defenseless Palestinian civilians being deliberately massacred in Gaza by Israeli military.

“Look there, there is no human being who cannot be affected by this. Unless you lose the last vestiges of humanity, you cannot allow this to go on. It has to stop,” Ashrawi said of the latest violence in Gaza.

“This morning, it’s nothing short of a massacre, a deliberate massacre. War crimes committed daily. But now there is a deliberate shelling and bombing and destruction of whole areas, of residential areas,” Ashrawi said on “This Week.”

Zionist Israel an International Pariah

Gaza has become a slaughter zone for the eradication of Palestinians with the most advanced military technology that Israel posses. In comparison the blaming of Hamas for this latest barrage of rockets, fails to recognize any proposition in the mutual savagery. Depending on one’s view just who is the unlawful belligerent, sympathy and condemnation follows. This eternal struggle will never end peacefully. Debating international law, dissecting historic claims, strategizing military options, analyzing diplomatic intentions, and especially honoring superior doctrine among conflicting religious beliefs is a formula that offers no solutions. Yet, Israel is wedded to an expansionist political objective. Extending settlements prevent any permanent settlement agreement.

Urge the U.S. Government to stop arming Israel

This summer, civilians have borne the brunt of the violence in Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories. Much of this has been carried out with foreign supplied arms.

It is time for a UN-mandated international investigation into violations committed on all sides amidst Israel’s invasion of Gaza and indiscriminate rocket fire from Palestinian armed groups into Israel.

Letter from Gaza by a Norwegian doctor

The last night was extreme. The "ground invasion" of Gaza resulted in scores and carloads with maimed, torn apart, bleeding, shivering, dying - all sorts of injured Palestinians, all ages, all civilians, all innocent.

The heroes in the ambulances and in all of Gaza's hospitals are working 12-24 hour shifts, grey from fatigue and inhuman workloads (without payment all in Shifa for the last 4 months), they care, triage, try to understand the incomprehensible chaos of bodies, sizes, limbs, walking, not walking, breathing, not breathing, bleeding, not bleeding humans. HUMANS!

Now, once more treated like animals by "the most moral army in the world" (sic!).

Naomi Klein: Enough. It’s Time for a Boycott of Israel

It’s time. Long past time. The best strategy to end the increasingly bloody occupation is for Israel to become the target of the kind of global movement that put an end to apartheid in South Africa

Every day that Israel pounds Gaza brings more converts to the BDS cause – even among Israeli Jews. In the midst of the assault roughly 500 Israelis, dozens of them well-known artists and scholars, sent a letter to foreign ambassadors in Israel. It calls for “the adoption of immediate restrictive measures and sanctions” and draws a clear parallel with the anti-apartheid struggle. “The boycott on South Africa was effective, but Israel is handled with kid gloves … This international backing must stop.”

Activists occupy UK government building, demanding arms embargo on Israel

PALESTINE Solidarity activists in London occupied a UK government building yesterday to demand an immediate end to arms sales to Israel.

“By allowing arms exports to Israel to flourish, the UK government is providing material and political support for Israel’s violent oppression and collective punishment of Palestinians, including the current massacre in Gaza.”

“UK companies that export arms to Israel such as BAE Systems and Boeing are profiting directly from Israel’s on-going attacks on Palestinian civilians on Gaza,” the group member said.

“Rather than seeking to whitewash Israeli atrocities,” the campaigner added,”the UK government should listen to the appeals made by Palestinian civil society groups and Amnesty International and impose a military embargo on Israel. How many more people in Gaza have to die before the government will stop arming Israel?”

It is clear that most targets of the Israeli attacks are civilian. A few of far too many example: the Kaware family lost seven members when the air force attacked their home in Khan Younis - can you imagine a mother and three of her children being killed together? The family of Hafez Hamad in Beit Hanoun lost six family members in the same attack, and a similar tragedy happened to the Dar el Samman family in the Jabalya refugee camp. It is a real massacre. Any and all homes in all areas of the Gaza Strip are under threat. The skies over Gaza are swarming with air force planes and drones; many people spend most of their time outside the home, waiting to see what will occur.

No more US support for Israel

They no longer hold the moral high ground, if ever they did. The massacre in Shejaiya is an obscenity.

Two small bodies lie on the metal table inside the morgue at Gaza’s Shifa hospital. Omama is nine years old. Her right forearm is mangled and charred and the top half of her skull has been smashed in. Beside her lies her seven year-old brother. His name is not certain. It might be Hamza or it might be Khalil. Relatives are having trouble identifying him because his head has been shorn off. Their parents will not mourn them—because they are dead too.

All of them were killed in Shejaiya, one of Gaza’s poorest and most crowded neighborhoods, which came under a brutal and sustained assault by the Israeli military today.

90 dead. The Israeli military was firing artillery shells into a residential neighborhood. It’s unconscionable, indiscriminate murder.

By now you must have seen the size of this gader hafradeh ("separation fence"). According to Nigel Parry on The Electronic Intifada: "Israel's Separation Barrier, dubbed the "Apartheid Wall" or "Berlin Wall" by Palestinians, has increasingly attracted international media attention, largely due to the hard-to-ignore scale of the project. The most obvious historical parallel to the barrier is the Berlin Wall, which was 96 miles long (155 kilometers). Israel's barrier, still under construction, is expected to reach at least 403 miles in length (650 kilometers). The average height of the Berlin Wall was 11.8 feet (3.6 metres), compared with the maximum* current height of Israel's Wall -- 25 feet (8 metres)." - See more at: http://batr.org/gulag/080603.html#sthash.lECcWHKE.dpuf

The End of Israel

Five days ago, Israel, at least in the eyes of its supporters, held the upper ground. It saw it citizens subject to an endless barrage of rockets, yet it showed relative restraint, killing Palestinian civilians only from afar, which served to convey an imaginary image of strength. But that has changed rapidly since Israel launched its ground operation. Israel is now, once again, involved in colossal war crimes against a civilian population and worse, at least strategically, its elite infantry commandos are being eradicated in a face-to-face street battle in Gaza. In spite of clear Israeli technological superiority and firepower, the Palestinian militants are winning the battle on the ground and they have even managed to move the battle to Israeli territory. In addition, the barrage of rockets on Tel Aviv doesn’t seem to stop.

The last night was extreme. The “ground invasion” of Gaza resulted in scores and carloads with maimed, torn apart, bleeding, shivering, dying – all sorts of injured Palestinians, all ages, all civilians, all innocent.

The heroes in the ambulances and in all of Gaza’s hospitals are working 12-24 hour shifts, grey from fatigue and inhuman workloads (without payment all in Shifa for the last 4 months), they care, triage, try to understand the incomprehensible chaos of bodies, sizes, limbs, walking, not walking, breathing, not breathing, bleeding, not bleeding humans. Israeli Intelligence Minister vows reoccupation of Gaza amid intl. outcry

Israeli Intelligence Minister Yuval Steinitz says the Tel Aviv regime has no plan to stop the ongoing aerial and ground military operations in besieged Gaza Strip.

The senior official says Israeli forces will reoccupy the besieged coastal enclave despite the international outcry to end the bloodshed there.

"There is a significant likelihood that the current ground operation will end with Israel retaking full control over Gaza," media outlets quoted Steinitz as saying.

Israel using flechette shells in Gaza

The Israeli military is using flechette shells, which spray out thousands of tiny and potentially lethal metal darts, in its military operation in Gaza.

Six flechette shells were fired towards the village of Khuzaa, east of Khan Younis, on 17 July, according to the Palestinian Centre for Human Rights. Nahla Khalil Najjar, 37, suffered injuries to her chest, it said. PCHR provided a picture of flechettes taken by a fieldworker last week.

The Israeli military deployed artillery shells containing white phosphorous in densely populated areas of Gaza during Operation Cast Lead in 2008 and 2009, causing scores of deaths and extensive burns. It initially issued a categorical denial of reports of the use of white phosphorous, but later admitted it, saying the weapon was only used to create smokescreens.

Indiscriminate bloodshed continues in Gaza as 20 more Palestinians are killed in Israeli shelling as hospitals overflow with women and children

At least 20 people have been killed in a dawn strike in Gaza - including the son, daughter-in-law and two small grandchildren of a senior Hamas leader.

Gaza City's Shijaiyah neighbourhood has come under heavy tank fire as Israel widened its ground offensive against Hamas, causing hundreds of residents to flee.

The dead and wounded have rep[reportedly been left in streets, with ambulances unable to approach.

Early this morning, the wounded from Shijaiyah were rushed to Gaza City's central Shifa Hospital. Frantic parents carried children wounded by shrapnel and the emergency room quickly overflowed, forcing doctors to treat some patients on mattresses in a hallway.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Let's review the timetable.

Last month, three Israeli teenagers were kidnapped and killed in an IDF-controlled region of the West Bank, not Gaza. ISIS has taken credit and even the Israeli media admits that the two suspects named by the Israeli government are not part of HAMAS, but of a group known for disobeying HAMAS and trying to cause trouble for them.

But Netanyahu declares HAMAS responsible and launches bombing raids into Gaza using the very latest high-tech weapons provided by the US Government and paid for by the US taxpayers.

To put Israel's actions into perspective, let us recall that over the July 4th weekend, 8 people were killed in Chicago. Using Netanyahu's logic, the Democratic party should be blamed and all of Illinois bombed and invaded!

The Palestinians, who have been attacked without provocation, fight back with their home-made rockets, which so far have not killed anyone or done more damage than knock a few roof tiles loose.

But to Israel's supporters, we should all forget that Israel attacked Gaza without a valid reason, and view Palestine's attempts to defend themselves as the crime, so that Israel can go on pounding the Palestinians with their superior weapons.

I want to point something out. The Israelis sit in their tanks, or the drone operations centers, or fly high above Gaza in their US-supplied warplanes, dropping the latest in US-supplied high tech lethal munitions, and imagine themselves the heroes they read about in the Torah. The Palestinians huddle in their giant open-air prison, without an army, a navy, or an air force, and fight back with home-made rockets made out of plumbing supplies.

Not since Thermopylae has the world seen such courage in the face of overwhelming odds. The Palestinians have balls the US and Israel can only dream of, and the world will remember their courage against the tyrants, and the lies by the corporate media's presstitutes and whorespondents trying to protect Israel's aggression!

Dozens killed in Palestinian town; Netanyahu calls for demilitarizing Gaza

Hundreds of Palestinians fled in panic into Gaza City on Sunday as Israeli troops focused their firepower on the nearby town of Shaja'ia. The shelling and bombing killed at least 60 people and wounded 300, according to the Gaza Health Ministry.

In previous days, Israel warned residents to flee, through calls, text messages and dropping fliers that said "it is the intention of the IDF to carry out aerial strikes against terror sites and operatives" in the area. The fliers told people to head to Gaza City by Wednesday morning and not to return until further notice. The IDF posted an English translation of the fliers Sunday on Twitter.

Some residents said they had received the warnings but felt that even if they fled, they could face the same dangers in other parts of Gaza.

Israel using flechette shells in Gaza

B'Tselem, an Israeli human rights organisation, describes a flechette shell as "an anti-personnel weapon that is generally fired from a tank. The shell explodes in the air and releases thousands of metal darts 37.5mm in length, which disperse in a conical arch 300 metres long and about 90 metres wide".

The munitions are not prohibited under international humanitarian law, but according to B'Tselem, "other rules of humanitarian law render their use in the Gaza Strip illegal. One of the most fundamental principles is the obligation to distinguish between those who are involved and those who are not involved in the fighting, and to avoid to the extent possible injury to those who are not involved. Deriving from this principle is the prohibition of the use of an imprecise weapon which is likely to result in civilian injuries."

We'll send in more troops, warns Israel: Netanyahu vows to 'significantly widen' ground offensive in Gaza

Israel is prepared to ‘significantly widen’ its ground offensive against Palestinian militants in the Gaza Strip, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned yesterday.

He said the military was intent on destroying rocket sites and tunnels used by Hamas to launch strikes against Israel.

Mr Netanyahu spoke as thousands of troops, backed by tanks, artillery fire and fighter jets, poured into Gaza in a bid to seek and destroy the hardline Islamist group that controls the strip.

Gaza is a concentration camp, and it’s an American delusion not to recognize that — Weschler

Lawrence Weschler, a writer of considerable mainstream prestige, is sick of prevaricating about Israel. It’s rabid. It has rabies. And Gaza is a concentration camp. Weschler has let loose chiefly because of the “remorseless” and “repetitively compulsive” aspect of Israeli violence. I believe that understanding is now widely shared in the liberal mainstream, and interventions like Weschler’s make it easier for others to speak up. From Truthdig:

I know, I know, and I am bone tired of being told it, when it comes to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, there is plenty of blame to go around, but by this point after coming on almost 50 years of Israeli stemwinding and procrastinatory obfuscation, I’d put the proportionate distribution of blame at about the same level as the mortality figures—which is, where are we today (what with Wednesday morning’s four children killed while out playing on a Gaza beach)? What, 280 to 2?

Gaza: Israel's $4 billion gas grab

Never mind the 'war on terror' rhetoric, writes Nafeez Ahmed. The purpose of Israel's escalating assault on Gaza is to control the Territory's 1.4 trillion cubic feet of gas - and so keep Palestine poor and weak, gain massive export revenues, and avert its own domestic energy crisis.

US-backed Israeli Invasion of Gaza Unleashes Death and Destruction

The death, destruction and human suffering caused by Israel’s 11-day-old onslaught against the impoverished and densely populated Gaza Strip increased sharply Friday. Israeli troops and armored columns continued pushing into the territory in an invasion launched the night before, even as the bombardment from air, land and sea intensified.

The death toll rose rapidly to the 300 mark on Friday, while the number of wounded climbed to well over 2,200. What is unfolding in Gaza is a calculated and savage war crime against a largely defenseless population carried out with the full and open support of Washington and the complicity of the European Union, the Arab regimes and the Palestinian Authority (PA) of President Mahmoud Abbas.

Alexei Sayle: Israel is Jimmy Savile of nation states

“Israel is the Jimmy Saville of nation states,” Sayle said on Tuesday during an interview with Caabu (Council for Arab-British Understanding).

“It clearly doesn't care about damaging the lives of children,” he added, referring to the late entertainer.

Sayle also described Israel as a “teenager that’s never been given any boundaries.”

“[Israel] is endlessly indulged by its doting parents, the West, and has become a psychopath as a result.

“It thinks that everybody else is in the wrong and it is in the right,” he said.

Norwegian surgeon witnesses Israeli war crimes in Gaza

Gilbert, 67, a surgeon, murmurs as he walks in the Intensive Care Unit: "This is outrageous, horrific and unbelievable... what's happening is no less than premeditated killing and genocide."

In an interview with Safa News, Gilbert says the Israeli occupation deliberately uses internationally forbidden destructive weapons in its continued onslaught on Gaza.

"Israeli bombs cause injuries that cannot be immediately seen via x-ray," Gilbert said, "After a period of time, the injury starts to bleed."

"The material used in these bombs is uncommon, which explains why we cannot cure the injured parts, and in some cases doctors are forced to amputate them," he says.

Harper's one-sided approach to Gaza is a betrayal of Canadian values

Certain minimal standards are expected of a national leader in what is known as the "civilized world."

One of those standards would seem to be that, when massive numbers of defenceless civilians are being killed, a national leader should call for the killing to stop.

Israel Firing Experimental Weapons at Gaza’s Civilians, Say Doctors

Doctors treating patients in Gaza have accused Israel of using experimental weapons on Palestinian civilians.

Addressing reporters at a press conference on Sunday, Youssef Abul Resh, undersecretary of the health ministry in Gaza said, “Medical teams have registered injuries consistent with those caused by DIME [dense inert metal explosives] and other banned weapons.”

He added, “Israel has mercilessly targeted Palestinian civilians leaving many of them with life-threatening injuries and future handicaps.”

'UK, other powers idle as Israel continues war on Gaza'

As I write, the Israelis have slaughtered 160 Palestinians in their latest mad-dog military adventure, the vast majority being civilians including 35 children. 934 others have been wounded, including 280 children.

And still the mighty international community shuffles and mumbles.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Proving to the citizens of other nations that Israel has subverted their own governments just as thoroughly as they have Washington DC!

Gaza death toll reaches 316 as Israel continues attacks

Israel is pressing ahead with its relentless aerial and ground assaults on the besieged Gaza Strip, pushing the death toll to 316 in just 12 days.

The Palestinian Health Ministry says more than 70 of the victims have been children.

Israeli warplanes pounded a number of positions in Gaza during the early hours of Saturday. The fresh airstrikes killed more than 20 people.

More than 2,200 others have been injured since the offensive began on July 8.

Palestinian officials say as many as 65 people lost their lives since Israeli tanks began shelling the impoverished enclave on Thursday, when the Tel Aviv regime launched its ground operation in the besieged Palestinian territory.

Epic fail: Israel's ambassador to US lambasted on Twitter during #AskDermer Q&A

Israel’s Ambassador to the United States Ron Dermer received fierce backlash on Thursday as he defended his country’s Operation Protective Edge offensive on Gaza during a Twitter Q&A.

According to the latest Pew Research polling on the ongoing conflict between Israelis and Palestinians, Americans still heavily lean toward sympathizing with Israel. Yet Dermer urged those who oppose Israel's military actions to ask him any questions so he could clarify his government's position. So they did, but the result was probably not the one that Dermer expected.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Which is why we don't pay attention to anything Pew Research has to say any more.

Israel's military by the numbers

Webmaster's Commentary:

Israel's military might, paid for by the US taxpayer, deployed against a nation without an army, without an air force, and without a navy.

Glenn Greenwald: Why Did NBC Pull Veteran Reporter After He Witnessed Israeli Killing of Gaza Kids?

Glenn Greenwald: I’ve gotten to understand a lot more about how these large media outlets function. I’ve worked with some of them over the last year in the reporting I’ve done. And it really is remarkable, and not hyperbole, that there is nothing that makes major media figures and news executives more petrified than reporting on Israel. I mean, the way in which they become so frightened to do any sort of reporting that could make what they call Israel’s supporters inside the United States angry really can’t be overstated.

Israeli officials call for cutting energy and food supplies to Gaza

Israel's Deputy Defence Minister Danny Danon stressed that it is important to pressure Hamas and the people of Gaza through cutting off electricity and bombing Gaza's power plant and destroying it completely.

Benjamin Netanyahu Stops Pretending To Support A Sovereign Palestinian State

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu opposes the creation of a sovereign Palestinian state in the West Bank, he told reporters last week in remarks that largely have been overlooked.

“There cannot be a situation, under any agreement, in which we relinquish security control of the territory west of the River Jordan," he said July 11 at a press conference. But if Israel doesn't relinquish security control, Palestinians cannot establish a state. The alternative, then, would be a single state in which Palestinians are residents but not full citizens.

"That sentence, quite simply, spells the end to the notion of Netanyahu consenting to the establishment of a Palestinian state,” summed up Times of Israel editor David Horovitz, whom Ha'aretz described as a Netanyahu supporter.

Gaza’s Torment, Israel’s Crimes, Our Responsibilities

At 3am Gaza time, July 9, in the midst of Israel’s latest exercise in savagery, I received a phone call from a young Palestinian journalist in Gaza. In the background, I could hear his infant child wailing, amidst the sounds of explosions and jet planes, targeting any civilian who moves, and homes as well. He just saw a friend of his in a car clearly marked “press” blown away. And he heard shrieks next door after an explosion but can’t go outside or he’ll be a likely target. This is a quiet neighborhood, no military targets – except Palestinians who are fair game for Israel’s high tech US-supplied military machine. He said that 70% of the ambulances have been destroyed, and that by then over 70 had been killed, and of the 300 or so wounded, about 2/3 women and children. Few Hamas activists have been hit – or rocket launching sites. Just the usual victims.

The Zionist controlled Mainstream media does everything to block the truth

Israeli police ransack Tariq Abu Khdeir family home and arrest relatives in apparent revenge raid

Just hours after 15-year-old Tariq Abu Khdeir left for Ben Gurion International Airport to return home to Tampa, Florida, Israeli police raided and ransacked the home of his family in the Shufat neighborhood of occupied East Jerusalem. The police arrested Abu Khdeir’s uncle and cousins without charges.

The Israeli motive appears to have been revenge for the family’s role in publicizing CCTV footage of Abu Khdeir’s brutal beating at the hands of Israeli police, and their public campaign to secure his return to the US.
