Ukraine’s Protesters Were Paid to Storm Parliament?

The journalists also managed to film how the protestors who came to the building of the Ukrainian parliament were handed flags of the Kolomoisky-sponsored party. Ihor Kolomoisky, the former governor of Dnipropetrovsk, is one of Ukraine's richest tycoons with a business empire that includes holdings in the energy, media, aviation, chemical and metalwork industries. Moreover, the notorious oligarch sponsors Azov radical battalion, which fights in Donbass. Media, including Western newspapers, have persistently published facts proving that the Azov battalion comprises far-right extremists. According to some reports, the protesters received 50 hryvnia per hour for their presence at the demonstration.

Why Iran Won’t Double-cross Russia

Some speculation is weaving through the airwaves that once its US-imposed sanctions are lifted in several months, Iran will shift its existing allegiance with Russia and instead double-cross the Great Russian Bear by doing gas and oil export deals that directly undercut Russia, especially Gazprom’s Turkish Stream gas pipeline aimed at the southern EU states. Were that to occur, perhaps at the same time a Pentagon and CIA backed rearming of the Ukrainian army and supply of massive heavy artillery to launch a far more effective military assault on the eastern Ukraine self-proclaimed republics, the Washington calculation would be a devastating blow to Putin and Russia’s economic stability. No matter what dreams may be floating around the Pentagon however, for many reasons an Iranian double-cross is highly unlikely.

PUTIN SAYS DUMP DOLLAR

Russian President Vladimir Putin has drafted a bill that aims to eliminate the US dollar and the euro from trade between CIS countries.

This means the creation of a single financial market between Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and other countries of the former Soviet Union.

“This would help expand the use of national currencies in foreign trade payments and financial services and thus create preconditions for greater liquidity of domestic currency markets”, said a statement from Kremlin.

The bill would also help to facilitate trade in the region and help to achieve macro-economic stability.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Putin is spot on with this analysis; but I bet it is making Wall Street and the big banks squirm right now.

Putin Pushes to Dump the Dollar

Over the past week it was revealed that China is gradually dumping billions of dollars in US treasuries. Truth be told though, China isn’t the only country interested in unhinging itself from the dollar system. The global currency war has begun in earnest, and now Russia is getting in on the action.

Putin recently announced that he was drafting a bill that would remove the dollar and the euro from trade agreements between Russia’s closest trading partners in the CIS. The CIS is a regional association of former Soviet States, which includes Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Moldova, Kyrgyzstan, and Azerbaijan. By creating a single marketplace between all of these countries, it would, according to the Kremlin “help expand the use of national currencies in foreign trade payments and financial services and thus create preconditions for greater liquidity of domestic currency markets.”

New S-500 Anti-Missile Missile Will Seal Russia Airspace

Some sectors of U.S. Think Tankland – with their cozy CIA ties – are now hedging their bets about Cold War 2.0, out of fear that they have misjudged what really happens on the geopolitical chessboard.

A shooting war is not exactly a brilliant idea. Russia’s S-500 anti-missile missiles and anti-aircraft missiles can intercept any existing ICBM, cruise missile, or aircraft. S-500s travel at 15,480 miles an hour; reach an altitude of 115 miles; travel horizontally 2,174 miles; and can intercept up to ten incoming missiles. They simply cannot be stopped by any American anti-missile system.

'Foreign Policy' Asks: Is Russian Literature Covertly Invading Your Mind?

Edward Lucas and other idiots have been waiting for months for Russia to invade the entire world. But the invasion has not come. Instead, it is now evident that Putin will resurrect the Soviet Union by brainwashing the world with so-called Russian “culture”.
The United States knows this trick well and uses it with spectacular success to distract from its drone campaigns and CIA torture facilities. Who can deny the power of SpongeBob Squarepants and his subterranean hijinks? Now try to imagine SpongeBob in Russian, book form, and you will begin to understand why responsible westerners are worried.
Case in point: The Russian government is supporting efforts to make contemporary Russian literature available to western readers. Or as Foreign Policy explains: the Kremlin is backing an ambitious effort to make the B-sides of the Russian literary canon more accessible to a global audience. Is it a boon for cultural understanding – or propaganda?

One side is missing in the Estonian fence

The Russian foreign Ministry commented on the plans of the Estonian authorities on the construction of a fence on the border with Russia - barrier height of 2.5 m and a length of 108 km.
According to Russian diplomats, "the filing of this initiative looks quite politicized." The Russian foreign Ministry emphasizes that, since the border Treaty between Russia and Estonia has not entered into force, Moscow would take "any unilateral action on the establishment of joint border as temporary and of no legal value".
Earlier plans to strengthen the border with Russia was reported by the Latvian authorities.

Russia ready for any twist in West’s anti-Russian sanctions — FM

Lavrov said the European Union last September lauded Moscow’s contribution to the Ukrainian conflict settlement but later the same month introduced additional sanctions against Russia.
"We did not get a clear answer, when we asked them [the EU] whether it was their attitude to the political process," Lavrov said.
"It turned out later that the procedure of introducing these sanctions was closed, many presidents of prime ministers of the European Union’s members simply were not aware what Brussels was doing on their behalf. But let us put it aside," the top Russian diplomat said. "By the way, the authorities in Kiev openly state now that since Russia fails to implement the Minsk Accords, the sanctions from last September will be extended," Lavrov said. "I do not know whether this is what [Ukrainian President Petro] Poroshenko was trying to negotiate with [German Chancellor Angela] Merkel and [French President Francois] Hollande. We will see."

Russian security council chief: Nazism revived openly, cynically in Ukraine, Baltic states

"Currently, Nazism is being revived most openly and cynically in the Baltic countries and in Ukraine. Glorification of the pro-Nazi nationalist movements takes place, their views find more and more supporters among the local population," Patrushev said during his lecture at the St.Petersburg Marine Technical University.
According to him, the political leadership of Ukraine during the entire post-Soviet period has encouraged nationalist and anti-Russian sentiment of its citizens, and with the support of the United States such policy led to the forcible seizure of power by the opposition last year. The decisive role was played by the Right Sector ultra-nationalist group. "The people oriented towards the West and adhering to anti-Russian views came to power, and anti-Russian media intensified their activities in the country. The opinion of the other part of Ukrainian citizens was not heeded," Patrushev noted.

Russian lawmaker says Ukraine’s draft military doctrine is ‘challenge of aggression’

Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk said on Tuesday his government had referred a draft military doctrine to the National Security and Defence Council. "For the first time in the history of Ukraine’s independence, the draft military doctrine defines Russia as an enemy and aggressor," the premier said.
"The draft of Ukraine’s military doctrine is not a national security document, it is a documented challenge of aggression presented to the world and a proof evidencing inadequacy of the current Ukrainian authorities," Yarovaya told journalists.
"Ukraine is rapidly losing any signs of legal culture and common sense and is slipping into a marginal state policy," she said.
At the same time, she stressed that the people of Ukraine had always been and would always be a brotherly nation for the Russians. "No insane statements by the authors of the present-day Ukrainian tragedy will be able to change it," Yarovaya underscored.

The Production of Evil (an op-ed from Russia)

If you can't unite your subjects by serving their common interests, you can do it using a common enemy. And if this common enemy doesn't exist—no problem, you can create one with your own hands. You can give it the opportunity to grow up, give it weapons, grant it immunity and release it into the world.

The most important thing in such a creation is that it must be horrible. It must be self-evidently horrible. So horrible that everyone—even the idiots—could understand that this—this thing covered in blood, holding a torn-off human leg in its hand—is the only alternative to having the United States of America in complete control of everything. That burning people alive, mass executions, beheadings, sanctioned rapes—this is the only alternative to gay marriage, feminism, total surveillance of everyone and extraterritorial American “justice.”

The western establishment is nurturing ISIS like an attack dog, feeding it, training it to like human blood, in order to then release it and offer people the freedom of choice: you can die in its teeth, or you can hide behind a gate, the keys to which are in the hands of global capitalism......

Are Russians Sending Military Support To Syria? Potential For Conflict With NATO?

By Brandon Turbeville

If reports coming from YNet News are accurate, the Syrian crisis just became more complex and more dangerous. The report would be great news for the Assad government, however, as it suggests that, in addition to providing Syria with six new MIG 31 jets and providing satellite images with the SAA, the Russians will also be delivering an expeditionary force of Russian soldiers.

YNet claims that the Russian force will be made up of fighter pilots, attack helicopter pilots, advisors, technicians, logistics personnel, instructors, and members of the aerial protection division. The forces are to be stationed at a permanent base in Syria. Although the Russians already maintain the Port of Tartus, YNet suggests that the new base of operations will be an “Assad-controlled” location in an area surrounding Damascus...

Similar examples are innumerable, as Bloomberg reported in January.

Soviet Nuclear Test of 1949 Dealt Heavy Blow to Pentagon's War Plans

Although the equipment of the Soviet scientists and designers was very primitive at that time, they made a genuine breakthrough in the 1940s. On the other hand, invaluable data on the American plutonium bomb obtained by secret agents allowed the Soviet nuclear physicists to avoid errors when creating the RDS-1.
But why was the USSR in a hurry? It is worth mentioning that after the Second World War, the US and UK military chiefs developed a number of "first-strike" plans targeting the Soviet Union, which was then weakened and exhausted by the war. Between 1945 and 1949, the Pentagon developed at least nine nuclear war plans, experts say.
The Pentagon planners envisaged that the USSR would be destroyed by an American nuclear attack and be unable to strike back.

According to a recent poll conducted by the independent Levada research center, 41 percent of Russians hold that the best way to tackle illegal migration was to help the refugees find jobs and receive legal status – twice as many as the 19 percent who gave the same answer just one year back.

Poland afraid of problems with refugees in case of Ukraine conflict escalation

Poland refuses to receive most part of visitors coming in the past months to Europe from the Middle East and North Africa on its territory. The Polish president linked this position with the conflict in Ukraine a day prior to his visit to Berlin.
"Being an EU member country, Poland wants to display solidarity; however, as regards refugees, here we have problems in connection with the conflict in Ukraine — as long as there’s war there, thousands of Ukrainians will flee [their country] first of all to Hungary and Poland," Duda said.
"We are the immediate neighbors of Ukrainians, and they may feel safe," he said in an interview published in German tabloid Bild. "There are prerequisites already now that a few hundred thousand Ukrainians want to come to us. Other countries should take it into account while raising the issue of readiness to render assistance."

Germany against deploying peacekeepers in Donbas — foreign ministry

Commenting on the statement of Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko on the matter, Schaefer said: "We know that the Ukrainian authorities support the deployment of armed international mission [in Ukraine’s east]. It has been discussed for months already, mostly behind closed doors. The issue was once again raised by President Poroshenko in Brussels yesterday."
Schaefer stressed that Germany is interested in the full implementation of the Minsk agreement and peace in Donbas. "At the moment, however, we are not convinced that arming OSCE [Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe] observers or providing them with armed guards would really contribute to the fulfillment of these goals," Schaefer noted. "We do not think that ensuring the activity of observers with the use of force and arms will lead to greater security," he added.

Russian Civic Chamber member speaks about Kiev’s new "blasphemous propaganda tricks"

The group operates under the aegis of State Duma speaker Sergey Naryshkin.
"We all understand that, if someone, some formation is striving for self-determination, it would be utterly absurd to begin this self-determination with the shelling of 16,000 of its facilities," the expert said, adding, that, according to his estimates, about 16,000 facilities have been shelled in the Donbas region.

The Coming Unintentional War With Russia

A couple of months before he retired in July, the head of Canada’s air force provided a blunt assessment of what might emerge from the current military mission to Ukraine.
“We pray that our ongoing NATO mission isn’t accompanied by the escalation of deadly force and the shedding of blood,” Lt.-Gen. Yvan Blondin wrote in the magazine RCAF Today. “We have everything to lose and nothing to gain through a show-down with our former Eastern Bloc foes.”
It was an unusual and candid observation from a veteran Canadian officer about the increased tensions and worsening situation in Ukraine. But Blondin’s warning also reflects an increasing concern among some in the United States and Europe about the possibility that the standoff in eastern Europe between Russia and the West could somehow end in war.

The logistics centers will be protected by national guards and the State Border Service, Zhebrovsky said.
The self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic has criticised the idea of creating such centres. Donetsk’s parliamentary speaker Andrey Purgin said Kiev’s plans to set up logistics centres from the Kiev-controlled part of the demarcation line had no practical sense in conditions of Ukraine’s blockade of the eastern republics of Donetsk and Luhansk. He noted also that a ceasefire agreement brokered in Minsk, Belarus, in February, did not say a word about any logistics centers.

Syria Shoots Down Israeli Warplane F-16 Bomber, Using Russian S-300 Air Defense System

Yesterday, Friday, August 21, 2015 in the early hours, Damascus time, an Israeli US made F-16 fighter-bomber, flew into Syrian airspace brazenly and fired at Brigade 68 and, then, turned and flew back toward Brigade 90 in Qunaytra in order to insure a safe landing in occupied Palestine if the aircraft was struck. It was struck. An SA-9 from the Iftiraas Air Defense Base and an SA-2 near the Khalkhaala AB were fired. But, the technical wizardry was most on display when an S-300 (SA-10 “Grumble) super-air-defense missile was fired from the Republican Guard base near the Mazza AB at the foot of Qaasiyoon Mountain west of Damascus. This was done so that the F-16’s electronic countermeasures would first fix on the SA-2 and SA-9 while the S-300 plowed forward to exterminate the vermin inside the Israeli aircraft. Ukraine Peace Agreement Is Dead and Rotting

The Minsk-2 ceasefire agreement is dead but no one wants to bury the rotting corpse. Since it was signed in February of this year the Donbas governments and Russia have bent over backward to comply with the terms of that agreement hoping against hope that the Kiev junta would do the same. They hoped in vain.
Poroshenko and his fascist allies instead have refused to change the constitution to accommodate the concerns of the Donbas republics, have tried to suppress the Communist Party and other parties in opposition, have refused to withdraw heavy weaponry from the line of contact, have maintained increasingly heavy artillery attacks on the civilian populations and areas and cut off routes for essential foodstuffs, medical aid and technical equipment.

Mystery Surrounding the Malaysian Airlines MH17 Crash: US Attempts to Frame Russia

The US and its allies wanted Russia branded with a scarlet letter. They manoeuvred Putin into a no-win situation: appear submissive or appear a mass murderer. Heads I win, tails you lose. They introduced into the UN Security Council a draft resolution on the formation of a special tribunal for the crashed Malaysian liner, containing a reference to Chapter VII, the deadliest of all, dealing with “threat to the peace, breach of the peace, or act of aggression” and authorising use of force. If such a resolution would pass, it would mean Russia gave up its sovereignty. Even in the unlikely case of fair trial, the impact of such a submission would be huge. And the trial would be by a hostile court for whom Truth Is No Defence.

No Sign of Any 'Values' in West's Handling of Russia

West speaks plenty about its super-duper values, but Edward Lozansky can't find a sign of any such thing in the last 25 years of Western-Russian relations.
There’s a non-stop flow of statements by high-level U.S. government officials suggesting Russia is the top threat to American national security or portraying Vladimir Putin as Saddam Hussein, Moammar Gadhafi and Osama bin Laden all rolled into one. (Some like Hillary Clinton also add Hitler to this pack.) And Russian bombers buzz American airspace with growing frequency.
When it comes to foreign affairs, the Russians – not just the elite, but the citizenry as well – watched with amazement and shock at the methods used by the West to promote its “values.”

Let me set aside for the moment, intentions, because I don’t know what Russia intends.”
So Dempsey admits he does not know what he’s talking about. What he seems to know is that Russia is a “threat” anyway — in space, cyber space, ground-based cruise missiles, submarines.

NATO Military Buildup on Russia’s Doorstep: Who Is Doing the Saber-Rattling in Eastern Europe?

Over the past year and a half, NATO armed forces have almost doubled the number of military exercises they have staged near the Russian border: between 2012 and 2013 they conducted an average of 95 such training events per year, but there have already been 150 so far in 2015, and flights by reconnaissance aircraft along the Russian frontier have increased tenfold.

But in an attempt to unfairly place the blame on Russia for such exercises, the London-based European Leadership Network issued a report on Aug. 12 that uses a flawed methodology to compare one type of exercise held in Russia in 2015 with another kind of military drill organized by NATO this year. Criticism was only leveled at the large number of troops involved in the Russian exercise, because the alliance’s drill was smaller on that scale. The report’s purpose was obvious: to shift the entirety of the West’s own culpability for war preparations in Europe onto the Russians.

Webmaster's Commentary:

A short memo to NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg; every time you accuse Russia of being the "aggressor", but can offer absolutely no tangible proof of these allegedly "aggressive actions", you lose any degree of credibility you might have ever once had.

I would strongly counsel restraint regarding any possible military conflict against Russia.

And if you think Afghanistan has been a debacle for NATO (and there is no other nice way to put it, sir), a war with Russia may well be a classic, horrific epic fail for NATO.

I would strongly and politely suggest that you may want to assist in getting Europe's own house in order, and work with those European nations overrun with desperate and displaced refugees, fleeing from wars of the US's and the West's making, to offer some humanity and dignity to those people who cannot ever go home again.

Perhaps, in this manner, NATO may redeem its reputation.

Israel Punishing Syria for Russian S300 Sale

Israel’s broad air assault on Syria has nothing to do with retaliation, no more than the massive assault on Gaza had anything to do with Hamas rocket assaults on Israeli villages, assaults confirmed only by Israeli sources.

There is a real purpose to the timing of this Israeli attack and that is the promise of Russia to deliver a fully upgraded S300 system to Iran, one that totally nullifies Israel’s air advantage and even Israel’s ability to hit Iran with nuclear armed ICBMs.

The recent attack on Syria is, in actuality, an attempt on Israel’s part to discredit President Putin and Foreign Minister Lavrov. What few if any in the west understand is how thoroughly Putin has humiliated Netanyahu, a man whose mental stability has long been in question.

Netanyahu sees his bombing attacks on Syria and his open support for ISIS and her sister organizations as daring Russia to move against the US-Israel alliance.
