THOUGHT FOR THE DAY!

"Economists have provided capitalists with a comforting concept called the "free market." It does not describe any part of reality, at any place or time. It's a mantra conveniently invoked when it is proposed that government do something the faithful don't like, and just as conveniently ignored whenever they want government to do something for them. -- Edward Herman

World War One and 100 Years of Counter-Revolution

In 1871, Karl Marx wrote that governments use war as a fraud, a ‘humbug, intended to defer the struggle of the classes’. In 1914, that fraud was so effective that not only most workers but also most Marxists supported their respective nation’s rush to war. Ever since then, governments have used war to defer class struggle and prevent revolution. But this strategy cannot last forever

US unable to account for $626 million worth of weapons in Afghanistan | The Department of Defense cannot account for 747,000 weapons and auxiliary military equipment.

The United States’ Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR), in a new report, notes that “747,000 weapons and auxiliary equipment” given to the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) by the United States Department of Defense (DoD) are unaccounted for. The United States has been training and supporting the ANSF to foster self-sufficiency in the Afghan National Army and the Afghan National Police. The ANSF will take over Afghanistan’s precarious internal security situation once the United States and NATO withdraw from the country at the end of this year.

Kyrie Eleison - Gaza 2014

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is a new video to Claire K. Rivero's "Kyrie Eleison" ("Lord have mercy on us all"). In the original version, I made a point of using images of child victims of all wars across the last few decades, but in this version I decided to not "go gently", and the images in this video are all from Israel's attack on Gaza, ending with a message to all American voters.

There is an interesting story regarding the creation of this video. Yesterday morning, when I started collecting the images, I was able to go to Google's Image Search feature and type in "Gaza Dead Babies", which yielded the images you see here. Later in the day, following Israel's bombing of the Gaza media center, cutting the Twitter feeds, and bombing the power station to silence Gaza's computers and internet connections, I returned to Google to find a few more images and found that "Gaza Dead Babies" not only did not bring these images up any longer, but tended to produce numerous photos of the three killed Israeli teens from the West Bank! Is this what they mean by Googliness?"

No doubt Facebook will block attempts to post this video as well, but take a look and help me make it go viral. When you see the message at the end, you will understand why.

House report advises eliminating IRS commissioner job, ACA management

Republican lawmakers on Tuesday proposed a total revamping of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), accusing the agency of being a political group rather than a nonpartisan government collection agency, according to the House pf Representatives Oversight Committee's latest report titled, "Making Sure Targeting Never Happens: Getting Politics Out of the IRS and Other Solutions."

Webmaster's Commentary:

I suggest that before making any changes to the IRS that you check those bills of ratification of the 16th Amendment that supposedly authorized a personal income tax (which was prohibited in the original Constitution), because Judge James C. Fox states quite clearly in Sullivan vs United States that the Amendment actually failed ratification, and the United States Supreme Court ruled in Stanton vs Baltic Mining that the 16th Amendment (even if ratified) did not actually confer any new tax powers on Congress, making the IRS and the income tax a 100 year criminal fraud perpetrated by the US Government and the FED against the American people.

Razing Gaza: Before and after satellite images show the true devastation of Israel's bombardment as 700 homes and mosques are turned to rubble and 400 craters blight the war zone

The obliteration of Gaza from relentless Israeli air strikes and tank shelling was laid bare today in a series of satellite images charting the escalating violence across the region.

Analysis from UN satellite experts reveal how hundreds of buildings have been razed to the ground in a series of attacks that have killed more than 1,300 Palestinians over the last three weeks.

Using images from July 6 - before the conflict began - and comparing them with ones from July 25, they have identified 700 destroyed structures, many of them homes and mosques.

Twin Strikes Claim 37 Lives in Gaza as Israel War Widens

Twin strikes on a United Nations school and the main public market in Gaza City claimed the lives of 37 people, Palestinians said, as Israel expanded its three-week-old offensive in the territory.

The UN Relief and Works Agency accused Israel of violating international law with the attack on the school, which it said was sheltering 3,300 people who had sought refuge there from the fighting. The Israeli army said troops were responding to fire launched at them from the vicinity. It also said it was looking into the report of an air strike on the market.

The attacks came as the Israeli military pushed deeper into the Hamas-controlled territory, according to military spokesman Brigadier-General Moti Almoz, in an interview with Army Radio. Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon said today his army is ready to broaden its incursion further as it hunts for tunnels militants built to slip into Israel.

‘Telegenically Dead Palestinians’: Why Israel Is Losing the American Media War

In many ways, the story of this month's eruption of violence in Israel and Palestine has been depressingly familiar. But in one interesting way it has been a little bit different from the beginning: American audiences are seeing the story of the conflict, perhaps more than ever before, through Palestinian eyes.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is a classic case of being hoisted with your own petard. As the independent media has gained audience over the last decade, corporate media, ad agencies, and public relations firms have, to continue their profits, maintained that they are still in control of the minds of America and can make the dumb sheep think whatever they want them to.

Israel took them at their word and sent our the order, "Make them think we are the good guys as we slaughter the Palestinians."

And the corporate media, ad agencies, and public relations firms have, to put it mildly, cratered this assignment.

Which is a good thing. Israel is not only wrecking their own credibility but that of the governments that support them, and the aforesaid corporate media, ad agencies, and public relations firms.

'Bout time.

National Security Study 200

SUBJECT: Implications of Worldwide Population Growth for U.S. Security and Overseas Interests

The President has directed a study of the impact of world population growth on U.S. security and overseas interests. The study should look forward at least until the year 2000, and use several alternative reasonable projections of population growth.

In terms of each projection, the study should assess:

- the corresponding pace of development, especially in poorer-countries;
- the demand for US exports, especially of food, and the trade-problems the US may face arising from competition for resources; and
- the likelihood that population growth or imbalances will produce disruptive foreign policies and international instability.

Webmaster's Commentary:

As Ebola races across Africa, it appears that the United States Government's attitude towards the crisis is rather lackadaisical at this point. Certainly it is being treated as a lower priority than sheltering the illegal immigrants flooding across the Mexican border (who given enough time, will bring Ebola with them), providing weapons and money to Israel, and trying to provoke a potentially nuclear war with Russia.

The US Government's inaction could be attributed to the fact that the politicians can;t really do anything about it, cannot get votes out of it, and so, like with Fukushima and the Gulf Oil Disaster, their plan is to ignore Ebola and pretend it just is not important.

But there may be another agenda at work; one that dates back to the Nixon Administration. In 1974, Henry Kissenger prepared a study for the President which suggested US Government policy should work for depopulation of the third world, in particular the resource-rich regions, to make those resources available to the US and to prevent the rise of a sufficiently large population able to resist US incursions.

Nixon adopted this policy, but his successor, Gerald Ford, alarmed by scandals involving covert sterilization under the guise of global vaccination programs, ended the policy. Whether it has been revived in secret is not known.

But there is no question that an Ebola epidemic, raging through the very nations the US AFRICOM is seeking ton control, plays right into that agenda of depopulation to reduce nations' ability to resist US control, and that may be the reason the US Government has done little more about the emerging Ebola crisis than flap their gums for the corporate media cameras!

Portugal’s Top Oligarch Goes Down in Flames

Ricardo Espírito Santo Silva Salgado is known in Portugal as “Dono disto tudo,” or “Owner of everything.’ The oligarch’s family has been calling the shots in Portugal for over a century. It’s the largest shareholder of the country’s biggest stock market listed bank, and controls a string of other financial companies, agricultural, energy, health care and property companies in Portugal and across the globe. But now it looks like the final chapters in the long history of the most renowned members of the country’s elite are about to be written. And perhaps with it a new chapter in Portugal’s and Europe’s financial and economic crisis.

Jul 30 09:57

The Elite, the ‘Great Game’ and World War III

The control of the US, and of global politics, by the wealthiest families of the planet is exercised in a powerful, profound and clandestine manner. This control began in Europe and has a continuity that can be traced back to the time when the bankers discovered it was more profitable to give loans to governments than to needy individuals.

These banking families and their subservient beneficiaries have come to own most major businesses over the two centuries during which they have secretly and increasingly organised themselves as controllers of governments worldwide and as arbiters of war and peace.

Unless we understand this we will be unable to understand the real reasons for the two world wars and the impending Third World War, a war that is almost certain to begin as a consequence of the US attempt to seize and control Central Asia. The only way out is for the US to back off – something the people of the US and the world want, but the elite does not.

The US is a country controlled through the privately owned Federal Reserve, which in turn is controlled by the handful of banking families that established it by deception in the first place.

This does not mean that our government-elected officials can do whatever they want behind closed doors.

"US Will Feel Tangible Losses," Russia Prepares To Unleash Retaliatory Trade Wars

"It's a troubling continuation/expansion of trade as a geopolitical tool," warns one Washington-based consulting firm as Russia prepares to unleash retaliatory actions to US and European sanctions. As Bloomberg reports, Russia said yesterday it may ban imports of chicken from the U.S. and fruit from Europe and is investigating McDonald's cheese for safety. In addition, a Russian lawmaker has drafted legislation that might result in U.S. accounting firms being barred from doing business in his country. All of this is odd given Jack "trust me" Lew's reassurance that Russian sanctions would have no impact on the US economy. Russia's response, US will feel 'tangible losses' from 'destructive, myopic' sanctions.

As Bloomberg reports, while Russia and the U.S. have long sparred over agricultural trade, the actions fueled speculation they could be retaliatory.

Situation atrocious’: Russian Red Cross says E. Ukraine faces humanitarian catastrophe

The Russian Red Cross is not alone in its efforts. Russian Human Rights Commissioner Ella Pamfilova has been trying to achieve the same goal.

Residential areas have come under fire in the east of Ukraine as Kiev’s forces continue their military operation there. Ukrainian troops and anti-government forces have been blaming each other for the civilian casualties.

The town of Gorlovka in the Donetsk Region has for the last several days witnessed massive shelling. Twenty-seven civilians, including 4 children, were killed in the region July 27-29, the city council said.

MH17 Wreckage Seems to Show It Was Struck with Bullets and a R-60 Air to Air Missile

Russian air control radars apparently registered an unidentified blip suddenly appearing on screen close to flight MH17 at the moment it was apparently hit; this blip later disappeared. Kartopolov insisted the radar signature was a Ukrainian military jet, apparently an Su-25 that could have attacked Flight MH17, using its two R-60 short-range heat seeker “shoot-and-forget air-to-air,” which these military planes are designed to carry for self defense.

According to the chief of staff of the Russian Air Force, Lieutenant-General Igor Markushev, who together with Kartopolov presented the official Russian outline of the MH17 crash, Ukrainian officials deny any of their military aircraft were in air at the time over Donbas, “but you see that is not so,” which is an indication of guilt, he alleged.

Further evidence to support this claim is shown below.

CDC: Stopping deadly Ebola outbreak will Be a 'marathon'

The deadly Ebola outbreak in West Africa is not showing any signs of slowing down, prompting U.S. health officials to issue more warnings for their staff in the region, encourage U.S. doctors to collect information about sick patients' travel histories and take more actions in the affected countries to bring the virus under control before it spreads to other regions.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Outside of talk, I don't see where the US Government is giving this crisis the attention it deserves. The attitude seems to be that if they cannot use it to get more votes this November, it just isn't a priority compared with illegal immigration, sending weapons to Israel, and starting a war with Russia!

Video: If you voted for Hamas, Israel has a right to kill you, says president of NY Board of Rabbis

There was a pro-Israel rally of 10,000 people in New York yesterday, a half block from the United Nations, and Rabbi David-Seth Kirchner, the president of the NY Board of Rabbis, suggested that Palestinians who voted for Hamas are combatants who deserve to be targeted by Israel. He said:

When you are part of an election process that asks for a terrorist organization which proclaims in word and in deed that their primary objective is to destroy their neighboring country and not to build schools or commerce or jobs, you are complicit and you are not a civilian casualty.

The crowd cheered. Kirshner went on to say that the Israeli army is “the most moral army in the history of civilization.” He ended his remarks with the word, Amen.

Webmaster's Commentary:

And what about the slaughter of innocent Palestinian children, too young to vote, Rabbi?!?

I am certain that you have some kind of tortured logic with which to justify these actions, and I really wish, in your statements, that you would have just said it, in this speech, just to make your position perfectly clear.

In the last election, vetted by international observers, and characterized as being free and fair, Hamas won the election. THAT really annoyed Netanyahu no end.

And this year, when Fatah and Hamas were to announce a unity government, THAT darn near had Prime Minister Netanyahu exploding, because he could no longer say he didn't know who to talk to about peace. So what did he do?!? He suspended peace talks in April of this year.

And now, another massive IDF attack against Gaza, which will most probably kill hundreds of thousands. Apparently, when he makes that observation that the IDF is " ...the most moral army in the history of civilization.", it is painfully clear, the from Rabbi Kirchners's perspective, that morality equates to genocide.

Oh, and by the way, that statement about Palestinians not building schools or commerce or jobs?!?

I would like to thoughtfully point out that concrete, and other building materials are forbidden in Gaza.

So I would like him to elucidate, please on just HOW the Palestinians in Gaza are supposed to be able to build ANYTHING, with these restrictions in place, and here they are:

List no. 1: Items Subject to Specific Permission / List No. 2: Construction Items and Materials null UNRWA worker inspects a load of metal stock at the Kerem Shalom Crossing terminal before transfer to the Gaza Strip, June 2010 (Photo: Reuters) According to the decision taken on June 20, 2010, by the Israeli Security Cabinet, the Government of Israel - having reviewed the propositions put forward by the USG, the OQR and others - formed two categories of listed items whose entry into Gaza would be subject to Israeli control. All of the Countries which the U.S. “Regime Changed” – Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya – Have Descended into Brutal Chaos

Postscript: We can probably add Ukraine to the list of regime changed countries falling into chaos and murderous extremism, given that:

  • The U.S. State Department spent more than $5 billion dollars in pushing Ukraine away from Russia
  • The U.S. ambassador to Ukraine (Geoffrey Pyatt) and assistant Secretary of State (Victoria Nuland) were recorded plotting the downfall of the former Ukraine government in a leaked recording
  • Top-level U.S. officials literally handed out cookies to the protesters who overthrew the Ukrainian government
  • The U.S. has been backing – militarily as well as monetarily – the Neo-Nazis who have plunged the country into chaos

    Civilizing War Has Failed

Probably the biggest news story of 1928 was the war-making nations of the world coming together on August 27th and legally outlawing war. It’s a story that’s not told in our history books, but it’s not secret CIA history. There was no CIA. There was virtually no weapons industry as we know it. There weren’t two political parties in the United States uniting in support of war after war. In fact, the four biggest political parties in the United States all backed abolishing war.

Is killing civilians part of Israel’s plan?

Another day, another UN school hit by Israeli shelling in Gaza. Israel’s attack this morning killed at least 16 civilians sheltering at the school and wounded dozens. The casualties figures are expected to rise.

Israel and even most of its critics tell us that the civilian casualties are accidental, caused by Israel’s need to wage its war against Hamas in heavily built-up areas of Gaza. Israel is accused of “disproportionality”, or of recklessness, or of inflicting unfortunate collateral damage.

Congress Warns Obama Not to Push Israel for CeasefireSen. Kirk: Worth Thousands of Lives to Wipe Out Hamas

Efforts to negotiate a ceasefire in Israel’s ongoing invasion of the Gaza Strip aren’t sitting well with Israeli hawks, and by extension that means they aren’t sitting well with the US Congress.

That’s got Congressional officials up in arms, pushing President Obama to stop trying to negotiate a ceasefire in the conflict, and instead to endorse Israel’s war unconditionally, and irrespective of how bad it gets.

Underscoring just how far they’ll go, Sen. Mark Kirk (R – IL) insisted he was totally comfortable with Israel killing thousands of civilians in the current war if it meant wiping out Hamas, saying it was “worth it.”

    Webmaster's Commentary:

Now, Senator Kirk, let me get this straight: you are for slaughtering thousands of non-combatants (women, infants, and the medically fragile elderly) in order to remove the duly elected government of Palestine, which was, in a free and fair election, won by Hamas?!?

It is pretty damned obvious, sir, that you have been truly been bought and paid for by the Israeli government. As reported at www.rightweb.irc-online.com in November of 2013:

An officer in the U.S. Naval Reserves and a former five-term House member, Kirk is one of Congress' top recipients of donations from "pro-Israel" advocacy groups, leading one critic to call him "AIPAC's Million Dollar Baby."[2] - See more at: http://www.rightweb.irc-online.org/profile/Kirk_Mark#sthash.pnXrgD6C.dpuf

And, as reported at huffingtonpost.com, in February, 2010:

Mark Kirk, the House member from Chicago who is now the GOP Senate nominee, is the #1 recipient of pro-Israel PAC money in the entire House. In fact, of the top 10 recipients from both Houses, he is the only House member. Why do the PACs love him? It is because Kirk is a pure Israel-firster. For Kirk, Israel can do no wrong. Add to that that he sits on the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Foreign Operations where he brings home the bacon for Israel big time. Its wish is his command.

And that money is sizeable, not only for Kirk, but also the top 20 recipients of pro-Israel money As reported in www.opensecrets.org:

Obama, Barack (D) $2,224,126 Lieberman, Joe (I-CT) $2,119,414 Kirk, Mark (R-IL) $1,712,133 Levin, Carl (D-MI) $1,404,375 McConnell, Mitch (R-KY) $1,358,155 Berkley, Shelley (D-NV) $1,282,305 Specter, Arlen (D-PA) $1,224,837 McCain, John (R-AZ) $1,172,307 Cantor, Eric (R-VA) $1,136,465 Clinton, Hillary (D-NY) $1,084,891 Ros-Lehtinen, Ileana (R-FL) $886,144 Durbin, Dick (D-IL) $829,484 Hoyer, Steny H (D-MD) $826,665 Cardin, Ben (D-MD) $799,665 Wyden, Ron (D-OR) $767,357 Lowey, Nita M (D-NY) $760,613 Harkin, Tom (D-IA) $740,445 Feinstein, Dianne (D-CA) $712,066 Boxer, Barbara (D-CA) $690,253 Engel, Eliot L (D-NY) $685,537 Industries in this Sector: Pick another Sector: Search for an industry: Find Your Representatives The numbers on this page are based on contributions from PACs and individuals giving $200 or more

So folks, please wake up and smell the falafel. US foreign policy, when it comes to the Middle East, is bought and paid for by the Israeli government, period, end of discussion.

It is time to send every Congressional represenative home, permanently, who has taken, and is taking, one cent from the Israeli lobby.

Man Asks Cop For Help To Find Missing Girlfriend, Cop Beats Him With A Baton

A 13-year veteran St. Louis County, Missouri police officer allegedly beat a man in an "unprovoked show of force" after he asked him for help to find his missing girlfriend. Rather than offer help, Dawon Gore, 44, allegedly told the victim, Pierre Wilson, 24, that he should contact a department closer to his home, an answer which Wilson did not find satisfactory. An argument evidently ensued, after which Gore allegedly charged Wilson and proceeded to beat him with his baton, breaking three of his fingers in the process. Gore then reportedly denied him medical attention for an hour and a half while the victim was "booked."

Bollworms develop resistance to Bt cotton, destroy GM crop fields in Pakistan

Biotech giant Monsanto promises farmers that, if they buy genetically modified (GM) seeds, their crops will exhibit herbicide-, insect- and drought-tolerant characteristics.

Through time, research and field trials, this has proven to be a false promise. All over the world, plants and insects are becoming immune to potent herbicides and pesticides, resulting in the development of "superweeds" and "superpests."

One of the most recent examples is occurring in the major cotton growing belt of Southern Punjab, where farmers fear that bollworms have developed resistance to Monsanto's Bt cotton.

Michigan government forces farmers to destroy vast amounts of healthy food while homeless U.S. children and veterans starve

As reported by Daisy Luther, the "Organic Prepper," at LewRockwell.com, "While Americans in the nearby city of Detroit face life in third world conditions, unable to even afford running water, the state of Michigan decided to direct its resources towards cracking down on a small food co-op in Standish for having the utter audacity to provide milk, butter, cream and eggs to people who bought shares in the organic dairy."

Luther said the Michigan Department of Agriculture (MDA) is the culprit here; they "must be so proud of their deeds" after forcing Joe and Brenda Golimbieski, owners of High Hill Dairy, as well as Jenny Samuelson, owner of the My Family Co-Op, to "dump out 248 gallons of milk, to break 100 dozen eggs, and to destroy an undisclosed amount of fresh cream, butter and cheese" because, ostensibly, the state didn't get its pound of silver.

'You can't call it self-defence while you're murdering children': Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz lead the celebrity revolt over Gaza 'genocide'

Spain's leading film stars Penélope Cruz, Pedro Almodóvar and Javier Bardem are the latest major celebrities to go public with their views on the ongoing conflict in Gaza.

The trio are among a group of actors who have penned an open letter in a Spanish newspaper calling for Europe to condemn Israel's bombing of the Palestinian territory, which has now claimed at least 1,200 lives - many of them civilians.

The Spanish stars follow in the wake of celebrities, including singers Zayn Malik, Rihanna and Selena Gomez, and comedian Joan Rivers, who have spoken out either for or against the bombardment.

    Webmaster's Commentary:

Did UN warn Israel SEVENTEEN times that bombed school was housing refugees? Horror as tank strike leaves 19 Palestinians dead and 125 injured

Israel was warned no fewer than 17 times that a school it destroyed with tank strikes killing 16 Palestinians and injuring 125 others had been housing refugees, the UN claimed today.

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) said children were killed as they slept next to their parents on the floor of a classroom in the Jabaliya refugee camp when shells smashed into the complex overnight.

UNRWA Commissioner-General Pierre Krähenbühl said it was the sixth time one of the organisation's schools had been struck by Israeli bombardments during the 23-day conflict.

In a furious response to the attack, he said: 'This is an affront to all of us, a source of universal shame. Today, the world stands disgraced.

'We know that there were multiple civilian deaths and injuries including of women and children and the UNRWA guard who was trying to protect the site.

'These are people who were instructed to leave their homes by the Israeli army.

‘World stands disgraced’: 20 killed in Israeli UN school shelling

The UN relief and works agency for Palestine refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) has strongly condemned the Israeli shelling of a UN school last night.

“Children killed in their sleep; this is an affront to all of us, a source of universal shame. Today the world stands disgraced,” UNRWA Commissioner-General Pierre Krähenbühl said in a statement on Wednesday.

“I condemn in the strongest possible terms this serious violation of international law by Israeli forces,” he said, calling on the international community to take deliberate international political action to put an immediate end to the continuing carnage.

What's not a target for Israel?

Israeli forces have killed more than 200 Palestinian children in the Gaza Strip over the past 23 days. In order to obfuscate this harsh reality, Israeli officials claim "self-defence" and contend that civilian deaths are justified because Hamas allegedly uses Palestinians in Gaza as human shields. Israel is an occupying power that is attacking and destroying an occupied Palestinian civilian population. These civilian deaths are not collateral damage. They are war crimes.

Protesters in France turn out for Palestine and defy ban - again

Between five and ten thousand people defied the police in Paris last Saturday and protested in solidarity with Palestinians.

This is the second consecutive week that protesters in France have resisted a ban on Palestine solidarity protests.

In the face of resistance to the ban, the authorities allowed a static demo at Place de la Republique square, central Paris.

But vans of riot police patrolled all entrances to the square, carrying out stop and search on anyone carrying flags and keffiyehs.

Despite this the number of protesters swelled, taking over the square.

Some climbed the Republique statue, the symbol of the French state, and released flares in the colours of the Palestinian flag.

The New Anti-capitalist Party was present and had called for people to defy the ban.

The vibrant and multicultural demonstration put the lie to prime minister Manuel Valls’ attempts to label all protesters as “anti-semitic”.

Reality Check For The MSM: Obama’s Mythical Retreat from Military Force

    Corporatism Stifles Innovation

For an economy to grow and create actual wealth, innovation is a bedrock component in the development of enhanced prosperity. Prosperity is an intriguing concept. Simply making and accumulating money falls short of establishing a successful economic model. This recent report illustrates a prime example. Facebook stock soars, as company briefly passes IBM in market value. "By most measures, Facebook is dwarfed by IBM: With about 7,000 employees, ten-year-old Facebook is on track to garner $12 billion in sales this year. The 103-year-old IBM has more than 400,000 workers and sold almost $100 billion of computer hardware and software in 2013."

America's Militia Movement is Back From the Dead

For the most part the movement had been silent for many years, with the setup of the Hutaree militia, and the Minutemen’s arrival on the border being the exceptions. But the situation that developed at the Bundy Ranch earlier this year officially ended the silence and decline of the militia movement. They turned a situation that most people (myself included) were certain was going turn into Waco, and instead, they forced the Federal authorities to stand down without bloodshed. It was a rather decisive moral victory.

BP employees send Houston-area officials thousands of emails opposing oil spill lawsuit

HOUSTON — Houston and Harris County officials say they are receiving letters from BP employees who want them to drop a lawsuit over the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill.

The Houston Chronicle reports (http://bit.ly/1nSGeo4 ) Tuesday that local government officials describe it as a strange and unprecedented mass email campaign.

The county attorney's office earlier this month filed a lawsuit against BP, Transocean, Halliburton Energy Services and others. The lawsuit states the county lost $23 million in tax revenue because of the spill. The city and state have filed similar lawsuits.

One government employee reported receiving more than 1,200 emails. Officials report the emails appear to be form letters. They say the emails say BP is a good corporate neighbor and brings millions of dollars in taxes to local governments.

21 Ways To End The Phrase ‘Americans Are So Broke…’

Did you know that 77 million Americans have unpaid debts that are “in collections” and that Congress is actually thinking about letting post offices offer payday loans? We live in a country where almost everyone is drowning in debt and where most people are either flat broke or very close to flat broke. Years ago, “your Mama is so broke” jokes were all the rage, and at the rate we are going they could make a big comeback. Some of my favorites were “your Mama is so broke she went to McDonald’s and put a milkshake on layaway” and “your Mama is so broke your family ate cereal with a fork to save milk”. Unfortunately, the facts that I am about to share with you are not funny at all. In fact, they are quite sobering. Yes, things are going fairly well for the elitists that live in the good areas of New York City, Washington D.C. and San Francisco right now, but most of the country is deeply struggling as our economic fundamentals continue to crumble.

In this video a girl working at LZ Army Navy Surplus store in Auburn, NY tell us how a state trooper put up a flyer in their window which encourages customers to call the New York State Terrorism Tips Line to report this ‘suspicious activity’ under the as part of the “See Something, Say Something” campaign.

This is obviously nothing more than the beginning of the cultivation of ‘average citizen snitches’ who will rat out on their fellow citizens…

UN threatens sanctions on anyone trading oil with ISIS terrorists

The UN Security Council has voiced “grave concern” over reports of oil trading with ISIS militant groups in Iraq and Syria. ISIS has seized control of oilfields in the area and is reportedly using the revenues to finance its nascent Islamic State.

Russia submitted a draft statement to the Security Council on Monday night that would ban crude oil sales by terrorist organizations in Syria and Iraq, and potentially sanction anyone that does business with them. The measure “strongly condemns any engagement in direct or indirect trade of oil from Syria involving terrorist groups, and reiterates that such engagement constitutes financial support for entities designated by the Security Council 1267/1989 Committee as terrorist."

The statement also calls on all member states to take “necessary measures” to stop “nationals, entities and individuals” from engaging in transactions linked to non-state actors in the oil industry in Syria.

Carnage at U.N. school as Israel pounds Gaza refugee camp

Some 3,300 Palestinians, including many women and children, were taking refuge in the building in Jabalya refugee camp when it came under fire around dawn, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) said.

"Our initial assessment is that it was Israeli artillery that hit our school," UNRWA chief Pierre Krahenbuhl said in a statement after representatives of the agency visited the scene and examined fragments, craters and other damage.

Blood splattered floors and mattresses inside classrooms at the Jabalya Girls Elementary School and survivors picked through shattered glass and debris for flesh and body parts to bury.

Swedish banks walk tightrope with sanctions

News agency Reuters reports that the EU has agreed on a sanctions package against Russia, over its role in Ukraine, on Tuesday. The details of the sanctions package will be finalized and released on Wednesday. The sanctions target the finance, defence and energy sectors.

The sanctions are initially set to last one year but a review will take place after three months, to judge their effectiveness. The sanctions were decided to only target future contracts, leaving existing contracts intact, like France's delivery of helicopter carrier warships to Russia.

According to Reuters, one of the sanction with the most impact will ban Europeans from buying new bonds or shares issued by banks owned 50 percent or more by the Russian state.

    On Israel’s Doomed Fate

Just a month ago it seemed as if only divine intervention could save the Palestinians. However, as things stand at the moment, even God may find it difficult to rescue his favourite people. Israel has sunk into a fatal political, military and ideological paralysis. The destiny of the Jewish State has been revealed. It has no future in the region.

The key to understanding of Israel’s paralysis is not complicated. As much as Israelis favour the deployment of their devastating military might and its fire power, Israelis do not like to be caught with blood on their hands. As much as they like to kill, they hate to be the killers. This dilemma has matured into a political, ideological, strategic and spiritual deadlock. It puts the Jewish State into an impossible scenario that makes dwelling on someone’s else land simply unimaginable.

Ukraine's pipelines will lose 50% of value when South Stream starts - Naftogaz head

The South Stream gas pipeline, which bypasses Ukraine, may halve the value of Ukraine’s gas transportation system (GTS), according to Andrey Kobolev, head of Ukraine’s national oil and gas company Naftogaz.

After the Russian–led South Stream project is complete and working at full capacity, the value of Ukraine’s GTS may fall as much 50 percent from the present estimate of $25-$35 billion, RIA Novosti quotes the head of the company.

“We have no wish to lose it, and it’s unreasonable," Kobolev said on a Ukrainian local TV channel.

Construction of the South Stream pipeline in Bulgaria and Serbia was suspended following pressure from the EU to comply with competition law. After a while construction resumed.

"They [Gazprom] are ready to invest their own 15 billion euro in South Stream construction … This gas pipeline will take away from the Ukrainian transit potentially up to 60 billion cubic meters. Currently the transit carries 86 billion cubic meters," Kobolev said.

    Webmaster's Commentary:

I wonder if this was the reason the US put tighter sanctions on Russian energy companies; to make South Stream politically unviable for Europe, and force them to use existing pipelines from Ukraine.

Relevance of Hannah Arendt’s “A Report On The Banality Of Evil” To Gaza

HA’s penetrating analysis in the book furnishes insights both into the mind of the perpetrators, and the overall societal mindset they were embedded in, which made these horrendous acts possible without any weight on their conscience. It provides a template for studying all such acts of barbarity by the organized and brute force of the state, with full complicity of the overwhelming population, against people who are made stateless either in the sense of being deprived of the state they had hitherto lived in or are forced to live as stateless wards of occupying power.

Hoax alert: video of “child firing an RPG on Gaza Beach” actually from Libya

Earlier this month The Electronic Intifada rumbled a hoax video claiming to show “Hamas using children as human shields” – in fact the video was from Syria.

Two days ago another hoax video, this one titled “Palestinian child firing an RPG on Gaza Beach July 2014,” was uploaded to YouTube.

But in fact the video is not from from Palestine at all.

The original appears to have been uploaded to LiveLeak three days ago. The description of the video says it may have been from Libya.

"Nowhere to Go": Gaza Suffers One of Deadliest Days So Far as Israel Vows "Protracted" Assault

Despite a U.N. Security Council call for a ceasefire, Israel has intensified its attack on Gaza and warned of a "protracted campaign." Palestinian officials say more than 110 people have been killed in the past 24 hours, with some saying Monday was the most intensive night of bombing so far. In this time period, Israel attacked more than 150 sites including Gaza’s only power station and a media center that houses the broadcasting headquarters of Hamas and a number of other Arab satellite news channels.

    Q2:2014 US GDP Nowcast: +3.2%

The US economy is expected to post a substantial rebound in the government’s initial estimate of second-quarter GDP that’s scheduled for release on Wednesday, according to the Capital Spectator’s median econometric nowcast. Following the surprisingly sharp 2.9% decline for Q1 GDP (real seasonally adjusted annual rate), the US Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) is projected to report a 3.2% increase for its “advance” Q2 data on July 30.

Deadly shelling hits UN school, killing 16, as Hamas mulls truce

Israeli shells struck a UN school in Gaza early Wednesday, killing 16, as ground troops made a significant push into the territory despite Palestinian efforts to broker a 24-hour truce.

It was the second time in a week that a UN school sheltering hundreds of homeless Palestinians had been hit, with the latest violence pushing the Gaza death toll over 1,260.

The bloodshed came as a top-level Palestinian delegation including Hamas and Islamic Jihad leaders was preparing to head to Cairo to discuss a new proposal for a temporary humanitarian ceasefire, a top PLO official said.

But there was no word on whether Israel would respond to the initiative, with the military striking 75 targets in Gaza overnight as ground troops made a “significant advance” inside the narrow coastal enclave, army radio reported.

    Webmaster's Commentary:

This is NOT alleged Israeli "self-defense".

Congressional Report: Ebola Bio Kits Deployed to National Guard Units In All 50 States

The Department of Defense informed Congress that it has deployed biological diagnostic systems to National Guard support teams in all 50 states, according to a report published by the Committee on Armed Services. The report, published in April amid growing fears that the Ebola hemorrhagic fever virus might spread outside of West Africa, says that the portable systems are designed for “low probability, high consequence” scenarios.

Some 340 Joint Biological Agent Identification and Diagnostic System (JBAIDS) units have thus far been given to emergency response personnel. The systems are “rapid, reliable, and [provide] simultaneous identification of specific biological agents and pathogens,” says executive officer for the DOD’s Chemical and Biological Defense group Carmen J. Spencer.

Lancet Medical Journal Denounces Israel’s Aggression, Targeting of Children, and Attempts to Kill Gaza – Seven Quotes

Doctors and scientists, on behalf of 24 signatories, in the peer-reviewed medical journal The Lancet, write:

“An Open Letter for the People of Gaza”

    Seven crucial quotes:

Gaza is being killed by one of the world’s largest and most sophisticated modern military machines.

This is a “military onslaught on civilians in Gaza”

    These attacks aim to terrorize

We witnessed targeted weaponry used indiscriminately and on children

We denounce the myth propagated by Israel that the aggression is done caring about saving civilian lives and children’s well-being.

Israel’s behaviour has insulted our humanity, intelligence, and dignity as well as our professional ethics and efforts.

Should the use of gas be further confirmed, this is unequivocally a war crime for which, before anything else, high sanctions will have to be taken immediately on Israel with cessation of any trade and collaborative agreements with Europe.

    Webmaster's Commentary:

What has to happen, to end this carnage, is to immediately implement boycott, divestment, and sanctions against Israel, on a universal, international front.

And all of those alleged Congressional representatives who voted to support this genocide need to understand that there is an election coming in November, and We the People (whose real needs and concerns go largely unaddressed by this Congress), are angry about the continued US government's illegal support and enabling of Israel.

The Symington Amendment states, very unambiguously, that any nation which refuses to become a signatory to the NNPT, has nuclear weapons, and refuses to have those weapons inspected, gets absolutely no US military or financial aid.

And yet Congress breaks this law with impunity, every time it signs another check for Israel's financial or military aid.

And every time Congress does this, it further destroys its own credibility, which is very close to completely on the ropes at this time in this country's history.l

U.S., EU hit Russia with more sanctions as Ukraine fighting continues

Russia became more isolated Tuesday than it has been at any time since the end of the Cold War after new, hard-hitting sanctions were announced by the European Union and the United States, U.S. officials said.

U.S. President Barack Obama said the measures would take an "even bigger bite" out of the stagnant Russian economy than sanctions Washington and the EU had already implemented against Russia over its disputed annexation of Crimea and its support of pro-Russian rebels fighting the Ukrainian government.

    Webmaster's Commentary:

Memo to the editors of cnn.com: CAN YOU POSSIBLY, PLEASE, QUIT LYING ABOUT THE SITUATION WITH UKRAINE?!?!?

Let's look at the timeline here:

1.The duly elected government of Ukraine was dumped in a putsch.
2.Crimea, in a free and fair election, and with international observers present, chose to allign itself with Russia in light of the fact that Ukraine no longer had a legitimate government.
3.The US/EU/UCB-enabled Portoschenko was "elected" as president in an election so completely crooked that all officials participating in it had to screw their socks on.
4.Russia has done absolutely nothing wrong. They have also taken in children and women who are fleeing from the bloodbath which Portoschenko has ordered for those Eastern Ukrainian areas which want to be separate, adn more independent from Ukraine.

And of course, God forbid that you should mention the real reason for these sanctions, which are generally a prelude to war; money, and whose currency wil be supreme in world trade in the future.

The ruble and yuan are gathering momentum as the currency of choice, and that is the real reason for these sanctions; to prevent these currencies from rising any more than they already have, in terms of countries not wanting to use the dollar anymore as an intermediary currency.

And the US government will literally go to war rather than have that happen.

Russia bans Polish fruit and vegetable in apparent retaliation for sanctions

Russia announced a ban on most fruit and vegetable imports from Poland on Wednesday and said it may extend the restrictions to the rest of the European Union, its first apparent retaliation to new Western sanctions imposed over Ukraine a day earlier.

Moscow, which buys more than 2 billion euros worth of EU fruit and vegetables a year making it by far the biggest export market for the products, said the ban was for sanitary reasons.

Polish fruit growers said the ban was political, although Russia denied this. Moscow has frequently been accused in the past of using sanitary inspections to restrict trade from countries with which it has political disputes. The EU said it was studying the announcement, describing it as a surprise.

Jewish Groups Get 94% of Homeland Security Grants

The Department of Homeland Security allocated to Jewish institutions $12 million, or 94 percent, of $13 million in funds for securing nonprofits.

The Jewish Federations of North America’s Washington office director, William Daroff, said Tuesday that the allocation made sense particularly in light of an intensification of threats on Jewish community targets in the United States and overseas.

“In the current environment there are threats to nonprofits and to Jewish institutions,” he told JTA, noting a swell of attacks on Jewish institutions in Europe in the wake of the Israel-Hamas war in the Gaza Strip.

“We see it clearly in Europe, but we also see it here in the United States in Kansas City, in Seattle and numerous occasions that are not made public or do not come to fruition,” Daroff said. He referred to attacks in recent years on Jewish community centers in Kansas City and Seattle.

UN begs for international help after ANOTHER Gaza school is blitzed, killing 19 Palestinians and injuring 125

    WARNING: GRAPHIC CONTENT

The United Nations today begged the international community for help with the humanitarian crisis in Gaza after another school serving as a refugee shelter was bombed, killing 19 Palestinians and injuring 125 others.

Some 200,000 displaced Gazans have sought refuge in UN schools following calls by Israel to evacuate their homes ahead of military operations only to find themselves under attack there anyway.

For many Palestinians, the feeling of helplessness living in a densely populated enclave under a seven-year blockade with nowhere to run or hide has left them on the brink of despair.

'Where will we go? cried 56-year-old Aishe Abu Darabeh outside the school in the Jebaliya refugee camp which had a few hours earlier served as her refugee shelter. 'Where will we go next? We fled and they (the Israelis) are following us.'

Jeremy Scahill: Leaked U.S. Terrorist Watchlist Rulebook Reveals “Global Stop and Frisk Program”

The Obama administration has expanded the national terrorist watchlist system by approving broad guidelines over who can be targeted. A leaked copy of the secret government guidebook reveals that to be a deemed a “terrorist” target, “irrefutable evidence or concrete facts are not necessary.” Both “known” and “suspected” suspects are tracked, and terrorism is so broadly defined that it includes people accused of damaging property belonging to the government or financial institutions. Other factors that can justify inclusion on the watchlist include postings on social media or having a relative already deemed a terrorist.

Israel-Gaza conflict: At least 100 Palestinians killed and only power station shut down in heaviest day of bombardment yet

Much of what little is left of the shattered infrastructure of Gaza was pulverised by the Israeli military in a night of ferocious and relentless attacks by air, sea and land.

There was also symbolic punitive destruction of the homes of Hamas officials, including that of the movement’s leader, Ismail Haniyeh. The attacks piled up more misery for the battered population. What little electricity there was has disappeared after tank shells set the only power station alight.

Flames and clouds of black smoke billowed over Gaza's only power plant on after it was destroyed during the most relentless and widespread Israeli bombardment of the current conflict. At least 100 people were killed on Tuesday, according to Gaza health officials.

"The power plant is finished," said its director, Mohammed al-Sharif, signalling a new crisis for Gaza's 1.8 million people, who were already enduring power cuts of more than 20 hours a day.

Amnesty International said the crippling of the power station amounted to "collective punishment of Palestinians". The strike on the plant will worsen already severe problems with Gaza's water supply, sewage treatment and power supplies to medical facilities.

EU and US impose sweeping economic sanctions on Russia

EU governments have agreed to impose sweeping sanctions on Russia, targeting state-owned banks, imposing an arms embargo and restricting sales of sensitive technology and the export of equipment for the country's oil industry, in response to Moscow's continued backing for separatists in eastern Ukraine.

The punitive measures, the most extensive EU sanctions imposed on Russia since the cold war, were agreed by ambassadors from the 28 member states after a seven-hour debate. They decided that Moscow had not fulfilled the conditions laid down by foreign ministers last week, to stop the supply of arms to the rebels and provide full cooperation in the investigation into the shooting down of Malaysia Airlines flight MH17.

A National Consensus: Cell Phone Location Records Are Private

The Fourth Amendment protects us from “unreasonable” government searches of our persons, houses, papers and effects. How courts should determine what is and isn’t reasonable in our increasingly digital world is the subject of a new amicus brief we filed today in San Francisco federal court.

At issue is historical cell site data—the records of the cell towers a customer’s cell phone connects to. The government has long maintained that it’s unreasonable for customers to expect those records to remain private. As a result, the government argues it does not need a search warrant to obtain historical cell site records from cell phone providers.

I replied to the Oxford Union that I was unprepared to take responsibility for the Palestinians without undergoing the extensive preparation that an Oxford Union debate deserves and requires. Unless things have changed since my time at Oxford, one prevails in a Union debate by anticipating every argument of one’s opponent and smashing the arguments with humor and wit. Facts seldom, if ever, carry the day, and sometimes not even wit and humor if the audience is already committed to the outcome by the prevailing propaganda. Recall that here things were already on the verge of disaster after for some reason, Kerry was unleashed to "arrange" a ceasefire with Israel, when in reality the SecState somehow managed to infuriate every single feuding faction (there are a lot of them), Israel included, after Haaretz wrote that "Kerry ruined everything."

Why the USA and England Had to Start World War Two

Why? Basically because their gangster overlords, the sleazy criminals that slither around the banks in Wall Street and the City of London financial district told them to get the war on.
The banksters were deathly afraid that Hitler's resuscitation of Germany's economy, which had been on life support and falling fast, but got turned around in a matter of years into what got called an economic miracle would start spreading to other nations, many of whom were being destroyed from within by the perverted banksters choke-hold on those nations.

RAISING ON A BUSTED FLUSH - Israel Still Swears Hamas Kidnapped Those Teens

Prime Minister Netanyahu had promised that Hamas would pay for the murder of Naftali Fraenkel, Eyal Yifrach, and Gilad Shaar. But on Friday, Jon Donnison, a BBC reporter, citing the the spokesman, Mickey Rosenfeld, called Israel’s claim that Hamas was responsible into question.

Donnison tweeted that Rosenfeld told him that while the cell on the West Bank was operating alone, it was affiliated with Hamas. However, it did not receive direct orders from Hamas leadership.

Those tweets became the basis for a widely shared blog post saying Israel now conceded that the kidnappers acted in a lone cell and Hamas had nothing to do with it.

The twittersphere exploded with I-told-you-so’s from pro-Palestinian activists, who claimed Israel had manipulated events surrounding the killing of the teens to prepare for and justify its assault on Gaza, which has since killed more than 1,000 Palestinians.

    Webmaster's Commentary:

Rosenfeld is now recanting his admission, but we don't need his word anyway. The claim that HAMAS kidnapped and killed those teens never made any sense at all. HAMAS and FATAH had just formed their unity government. They needed world support for what they were doing and would not have carried out an act that would turn world opinion against them.

Kidnapping and killing those three teens does not get HAMAS anything it needs.

Kidnapping and killing those three teens does get Netanyahu what he needs; an excuse to bomb Gaza.

U.S. Senate unanimously approves resolution giving full support of Israel on Gaza

WASHINGTON - The U.S. Senate unanimously approved a non-binding resolution in support of Israel’s right to defend itself against rocket fire from the Gaza Strip.

The resolution, which had 78 bipartisan sponsors, passed late Thursday by unanimous consent, a week after it was introduced by Sens. Robert Menendez (D-N.J.), Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Kelly Ayotte (R-N.H.).

Call your congressman and these people and ask them how it feels to be an accessory to murder. Tell them you know Israel has bought and paid for the United States congress but you didn't think that included murdering Palestinians. Do it now!

US House Unanimously Passes Resolution Supporting Israeli Attack on Gaza

The US House of Representatives voted unanimously to support a non-binding resolution to reaffirm full U.S. support for Israel’s “defense of its citizens” and condemning Palestinian “unprovoked rocket fire”. The resolution made no mention of the nearly 2,000 tons of bombs that had been dropped by Israel on Gaza at the time it was passed.

The American Israeli Public Affairs Committee, which is the wealthiest Zionist lobby in the U.S., immediately issued a statement praising the U.S. House for “passing a forceful resolution affirming Israel’s right to self-defense and holding Hamas responsible for the attacks on America’s democratic ally.”

They support murdering Palestinians in your name and with your tax dollars. Call, and call again. Let them know how you feel about supporting Israeli murders! Also mention that ALL settlements are Illegal and the occupation is ILLEGAL.
