Congress Expected to Push Iran Sanctions if Deadline Passes

The tentative agreement among negotiators to have the framework for Iran’s final nuclear deal was never meant to be carved in stone. The “end of March” deadline is rapidly approaching, however, and is feeling increasingly firm.

That’s because the US Congress, packed with hawks eager to sabotage the deal, and egged on by Israeli officials to do so, are looking to act quick and try to impose some negotiation-killing sanctions the instant the deadline passes.

While the State Department is trying to use the threat of looming sanctions as leverage in the last minute talks, the practical matter is that the Congress is probably going to oblige the US to make a deal too, for fear of looking like they’re the ones sabotaging the talks.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Memo to those "alleged" Congressional representatives pushing for sanctions: whatever your masters in Tel Aviv are paying you, it cannot possibly be enough. In your coming rush toward sanctions, you will be thoroughly unmasked, and the American people will see you for what you truly are; tools of a foreign government, putting the needs and concerns of Israel above those of your "alleged" constituents.

There are times when the interests of Israel and those of the United States converge; however, this is absolutely not one of those times.

Economic sanctions, most generally, are preludes to war. And unfortunately, just because a US war against Iran (cheered on by Tel Aviv, which will offer no Israeli troops of any kind ) is the most ham-fistedly, pig-headedly stupid thing the US government could do right now, is no guarantee that it won't do it.

And, oh, there is that tiny, minuscule little "complication" that should Iran be attacked, Russia will most probably come to its aid militarily.

We do not have the troop strength; the manufacturing, or the money to guarantee a positive outcome to a war with Russia; and that is what makes this scenario so scarily dangerous.

Saudi Airstrikes Hit Yemen Refugee Camp, 45 Civilians Killed

Saudi warplanes attacked the al-Mazzrak refugee camp in Yemen’s Hajjah Province today, killing at least 45 civilians and wounding some 200 others, according to aid workers on the ground.

Saudi officials were quick to deny responsibility for the killings, and declared that the Houthis they are at war with inexplicably attacked the camp. This was in spite of Saudi officials bragging only yesterday they’d destroyed every warplane in Yemen.

Doctors Without Borders and other aid groups confirmed that the attack was indeed an airstrike, and there seems no serious doubt it was a Saudi strike, just the latest in an air campaign that is increasingly targeting civilians.

Webmaster's Commentary:

BRILLIANT, SAUDI ARABIA!! Doesn't your military feel really "butch" about killing and wounding non-combatants?!?

And BTW, did you get your training from the IDF, which does this routinely with impunity to Palestinians?!?

One can only speculate.

Obama supports reduction in military retirement pay

President Obama said Monday he supports the recommendations of a military commission that would reduce the size of traditional military retirement pay by about 20 percent and offer a new defined-contribution benefit for troops who leave before 20 years of service.

In a letter to congressional leaders, Mr. Obama said the proposals are “an important step forward in protecting the long-term viability of the all-volunteer force, improving quality-of-life for service members and their families, and ensuring the fiscal sustainability of the military compensation and retirement systems.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

With almost Wiemar-style, rampant inflation, President Obama is going to CUT military retirement pay?!?

How does this make sense, with an all-volunteer army?!?

Is the purpose of such a cut, perhaps, to dissuade people from joining the military, because the retirement benefits are so puny, compared with opportunities in the private sector, to the point where the administration believes there is "no other alternative" than going back to a military draft?!?

Before you start laughing at this, please remember: Charlie Rangel's bill to bring back the draft is still sitting, in the House Armed Services Committee, two years after its introduction.

As reported at http://rangel.house.gov/press-release/rangel-introduce-legislation-reinstating-draft-and-requiring-women-register-selective"

"Rangel Introduces Legislation Reinstating Draft And Requiring Women To Register In Selective Service System"

Congressman Charles B. Rangel introduced legislation on Friday that would reintroduce the draft and would require all women to register for the Selective Service. These two bills aim to challenge the decisions that are made to send our troops into harm's way. Ten years ago on February 15, 2003, fifteen million people across 800 cities protested the invasion of Iraq, making it the largest antiwar rally in history.

"Now that women can serve in combat they should register for the Selective Service alongside their male counterparts," said Rangel. "Reinstating the draft and requiring women to register for the Selective Service would compel the American public to have a stake in the wars we fight as a nation. We must question why and how we go to war, and who decides to send our men and women into harm's way."

Rangel conveniently forgets that US citizens never have the chance to change the course of history, once the large corporations and this country's military industrial complex decide who is next on their "hit list".

And that hit list usually involves the taking of resources from foreign countries to which the US government has absolutely no moral right.

In Iraq, it was about oil, and making sure that the oil was only sold in US dollars; in Afghanistan, it was about pipelines and mineral riches (and let's not forget the opium cultivation, which is still going strong); in Libya, it was preventing Qaddafi from offering a gold-backed dinar to compete with the US dollar.

And now, let us turn our attention to Yemen, where the people there threw out the US-backed puppet, Al-Hadi. I will predict that the forces fighting the rebels, including Americans, will collectively punish all Yemenites for having had the gumption, and capability, to unseat both the dictator and his government.

The country of Yemen has been characterized as one of the most poverty stricken, and corrupt, governments in the Middle East, and that is saying something.

The US government, if it had any collective wisdom here, whatsoever, would have been using its aid to this government as both a carrot and a stick.

There would have been an accountability for all humanitarian aid, medical, supplies, and food, that it actually got to the people who so desperately needed, and not parceled out to Al-Hadi's cronies to sell on the black market.

There would have been an encouragement of public/private investment in the country's infrastructure, building roads, hospitals, and schools, and training the Yemenite people so that they could get these jobs.

There would have been a requirement for more transparency in government, so that people could honestly believe that they would have their grievances handled in a logical and lawful way.

Of course, these steps.....would have been logical, on the part of this government

The dual facts that the draft legislation has not been killed, after sitting for two years in the House Armed Services Committee, coupled with a desire to cut the benefits for our retiring military, are two very strong indications that this administration is preparing for more and more wars, in the attempts to clean up the messes left by previous military misadventures, and will bring back the draft to do it, after participation in the all-volunteer army sinks to an all-time low, due to cuts in benefits.

Israeli government spreads racist caricature of Arabs on Facebook, Twitter

In Israel, stereotypes of Arabs – often the lowest paid, least protected and most exploited workers – as lazy, reflect the kind of racist attitudes toward natives prevalent in other settler societies.

This is also reflective of the anti-Arab attitudes taught to Israeli Jewish schoolchildren from the youngest age.

Putin Is About To Nationalise Rothschild Central Bank

Under the Constitution, the CBR belongs to a foreign State – the City of London – and is taking orders from London and Washington. This bank can only print money corresponding to its cash in foreign currency, which is not sufficient for Putin´s purposes. The CBR even has to buy (worthless) US bonds for the dollars paid for Russian oil – whereby the dollars return to the FED!

Moreover, Putin is under pressure from the West, which wants to overthrow and replace him with Western-minded oligarchs. Thus, the US ambassador to Moscow, Tefft, is said to have made it very clear: “We will displace Putin from office and install our people as leader of the government (he even mentioned the person by name) and appoint ministers”. -

Therefore, Putin now needs a strong army to prevent Russia’s submission to the US.

Thoughtful And Interesting Comment At Site... We Have Been Had...Big Time..Critical Thinking Required...

Can’t you see that Jade Helm 15 is a PERFECT way to get DHS, FBI,CIA, military, state guard and Other sundry Intel AND Military as well as local police PHYSICAL assets pre positioned without setting off alarm bells (too loudly) ?

Dressing Mil. , SF and OPGOV in civie attire and transporting them in pickup trucks would mean they would be pre positioned in every little town where militias are located, and the milita members long identified and targeted. even surely infiltrated.

These assholes WILL pose as Constitutional Militia… They will do bad shit to your neighbors such as stealing cars and assets “to operate against the .gov” to sour people on the militia.

The media will help. The rumor will be spread that people can only depend on the .gov.. to protect them from the rampaging militia…

We have been had, guys and gals. You and I need to plan like hell for what’s coming soon.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I still question why only ten states are involved if this is a takeover. However the caution about undercover FEDs pretending to be patriots to discredit them is real enough, because they have been caught doing it again. Many organizers of so called militias have been exposed as undercover FBI informants causing trouble and identifying potential rebels. Remember Elohim City, a focal point in the Oklahoma Bombing story, where Tim McVeigh supposedly planned his dastardly deed? Elohim City was set up by an FBI informant. During COINTELPRO in the 1960s, FBI informants infiltrated groups like the Black Panthers, native Americans, the peace movement, even feminists, to sabotage those groups from within. Never ever forget; the government loves to play dirty! It is certainly possible that with ten states involved, thne undercover FEDs are going to stage a phony armed revolution to justify a National Emergency, Martial Law, and the end of the Constitution. They have tried to do it before, first with Adam Kokesh's failed armed march into DC, then later with the Treyvon Martin/George Zimmerman case and then with Ferguson, trying to kick up mass race riots in several cities.

Massive Blackout Hits Turkey, Grounding Planes, Stopping Subways; Terror Not Ruled Out

Ankara, we have a problem.

At around 10:36 a.m. local time, Turkey suffered a massive power outage that left half of the country’s 81 provinces without electricity in what was the biggest blackout in a decade and a half. The blackout shut down subways in Instanbul and knocked out 11 of 16 air traffic control receivers, grounding flights to and from the capital. Although the cause is not yet known, officials haven’t yet ruled out the possibility that the blackout may be terror-related.

Who pulled out the plug? The ‘bathtub ring’ on the banks of the Colorado river that’s thousands of miles long

Eleven of the past 14 years have been droughts for Lake Powell reservoir
Reservoir at Arizona-Utah border is 45 per cent below ‘full pool’ capacity
Lake will drop even further as it gives water to Hoover Dam’s Lake Mead

A drought in the western United States has left water levels in the Colorado River basin far below their normal levels.

Lake Powell, a reservoir at the Arizona-Utah border, is 45 per cent below its capacity, and the lack of water has left a ‘bathtub ring’ at the bottom of its majestic rock formations.

The lake, from which the Colorado eventually snakes through Grand Canyon National Park, has lost 4.4 trillion gallons of water in a recent drought.

Bill O'Reilly's Cameraman Shreds The Last Threads Of His Falklands Lies

After a call from a cameraman friend, I watched Bill O'Reilly's report filed in 1982 from Buenos Aires for CBS during the Falkland War posted a few weeks ago on the Mother Jones web page. The part that caught my attention was Mr. O'Reilly's claim that he helped his cameraman to safety who was bleeding out of his ear after he fell when chased by the army.Ninety-nine percent of the footage in that report was shot by me. Does that make me his cameraman? I never fell nor was I bleeding out my ear at any time during my Buenos Aires assignment. I do not even recall Mr. O'Reilly being near me when I shot all that footage nor after I left the unrest at Plaza de Mayo that evening.

FLASHBACK - Iran nuclear deal deadline extended to July 1

Iran and world powers have given themselves seven more months to clinch a landmark nuclear agreement, and defuse a 12-year standoff.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The US corporate media are blaring that 6PM Eastern time is the deadline for a deal, after which Boehner will start upping the sanctions, the war drums will double their tempo, and Israel might just go ahead and attack Iran's power station (the way they did Iraq's) over the Passover holiday. BUT, the reality is that today is NOT the final deadline at all. There are three more month's to go!

Study Reveals Sad Link Between Poverty And Children's Brain Development

We've long known that children from affluent families get a head start that can translate into a long-lasting advantage, especially when it comes to academic achievement. Now, scientists have found what may be part of the explanation: Children who grow up in higher-income families appear to have larger brains.

Researchers from nine universities across the country, led by neuroscientists at Children's Hospital Los Angeles and Columbia University Medical Center, conducted a major new study of the effects of family income and parental education on child and adolescent brain development.

Webmaster's Commentary:

When kids go to school hungry, they can't learn. When they are chronically hungry, it affects brain development. And as reported at the Washingtonpost.com in October of last year:

The United States ranks near the bottom of the pack of wealthy nations on a measure of child poverty, according to a new report from UNICEF. Nearly one third of U.S. children live in households with an income below 60 percent of the national median income in 2008 - about $31,000 annually. In the richest nation in the world, one in three kids live in poverty. Let that sink in.

If indeed, "children are our future", this US government has collectively made the decision that the future of this country...is expendable.

ISIS mission: Canadian airstrikes on Syria could come within days

Canadian fighter jets will soon be launching airstrikes in Syria now that the House of Commons has approved the federal government's plan to expand and extend its military mission in Iraq.?

Iraqi Militiamen Plan To Travel To Yemen To Battle U.S.-Backed Coalition

Iran-backed Shiite militiamen in Iraq say they're ready to take up arms in a country most of them have never been to: Yemen.

“We defeated ISIS in Syria, we’re defeating ISIS in Iraq, and we’ll defeat them in Yemen,” Abu Kumael, a volunteer fighter with the powerful Iran-supported Shiite militia known as the Peace Brigades, told The WorldPost Monday. “We’re not just talking. We’re physically ready to go and fight.”

In Iraq, the militias are working on the same side as U.S. forces against the self-declared Islamic State. But once the militiamen get to Yemen, they'll be fighting not for the U.S., but against the Americans -- which means that the U.S. will be battling the same forces, and in some cases the very same men, that ISIS is taking on in Iraq.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The US government's invasions and occupations in this region are bearing bitter fruit all across the Middle East.

The deBaathification of Iraq was one of the most pig-headedly, ham-fistedly idiotic things the Bush administration decided to do, and led to a literal civil war between the Sunni-Shiite religious elements in this country.

It appears that neither of the last two administrations, collectively, had the intellectual capability of think a scenario through to its logical conclusion; in fact, that particular logic-disabled thinking seemed to be a prerequisite for employment with both administrations.

But there is one thing of which I am reasonably certain; the catastrophic failure of geopolitical imagination, which lead to the invasion and occupation of Iraq; the assassination of Qaddafi in Libya; the invasion and occupation of Afghanistan; and the propping up of a US-sponsored dictator in Yemen, Al-Hadi, nearly guarantees DC's need for more US boots on the ground in the Middle East to attempt to sop up the mess of blood and political movements not to the US government's liking.

Looking at how rapidly events are unfolding, it is only a matter of time. And were I a betting woman, I would not bet against the timing of this being very soon, before the onset of summer.

BEX ALERT - North Pole travel advisory: Check ice before leaving

Global warming

This is a big factor. The sea ice, where the water freezes and thaws, is getting thinner every year.

The first person to claim he reached the pole was Robert Peary in 1909. Exactly where he ended up is still being debated.

Peary reported the ice was 12 feet thick, and now it can be as little as four.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The supporters of human-caused global warming are starting to sound as whacked out as the Scientologists in the new HBO Documentary "Going Clear!" (Which I highly recommend seeing)

Having been embarrassed by several record setting winters in a row destroying their prediction that "Snowfalls are now a thing of the past" (UK Independent, March 20, 2000), the warmistas are now trying to make claims of proof of global warming in remote places in the hope nobody can go check for themselves. But even this latest claim that the arctic ice is at a record low has already been discredited by the raw satellite data which shows the Arctic ice has been increasing steadily since 2006.

Yes, the adherents of the Holy Church of St. Al of the Gore (The "Goracle" to his close friends) are a lot closer to Scientologists than to science!

BEX ALERT - NYT ad calls on Obama to act like Churchill, not Chamberlain

Popular New Jersey Orthodox Rabbi Shmuley Boteach took to The New York Times on Friday to criticize President Barack Obama's emerging nuclear deal with Iran, saying it could spell disaster for the Middle East region and the world. Boteach's World Values Network ran a full-page ad in the paper warning that the agreement -- which might be finalized by Tuesday -- could backfire like the ill-fated 1938 Munich Agreement and result in a war.

"Mr. President: Fighting al-Qaida made you like Churchill. Appeasing Iran will make you like Chamberlain," the ad read. It warned that Obama was rushing to a deal that would ignore the brutality of the Iranian regime and allow it to maintain "the potentially catastrophic one-year-weapons-breakout period, which endangers Israel, the Middle East, America and the world."

Webmaster's Commentary:

Okay, Rabbi, if you really feel that way, here's your rifle.

Pesticide in fruit and veg could harm man's fertility: Men who eat high levels have half the sperm count of those who ate the least

Pesticides in fruit and vegetables may lead to lower sperm counts of poorer quality, warn researchers.

Men who ate the most fruit and vegetables with high levels of pesticide residue had half the sperm count of men consuming the least.

A new US study also shows a drop of one-third in normally-formed sperm among men consuming most pesticide residue.

But the total amount of fruit and vegetables eaten was not linked to changes in measurements of semen quality in the group overall.

After Mail exposes trade in sensitive pension details... Now they are selling your health secrets

Medical details on thousands of people are ending up in the hands of fraudsters and criminals after being secretly sold, a Mail investigation has revealed.

The details on sick and disabled individuals are being cynically touted by data firms for as little as 19p each.

They are being sold on with no checks to cold callers and fraudsters, who are often looking to target those who are at their most vulnerable.

The lists – often compiled from health insurance applications – contain details of thousands suffering with diabetes, high blood pressure, osteoporosis, back pain and arthritis.

They name even those suffering from embarrassing bladder problems – as well as those who are hard of hearing, who can be more vulnerable to scams.

Herbicides used with GM crops alter antibiotic resistance of disease-causing bacteria

A new study has found that exposure to the herbicides used on GM crops changes how susceptible disease-causing bacteria are to antibiotics. In many cases the bacteria became more antibiotic-resistant, though in other cases they became less so. The study was carried out by Prof Jack Heinemann, Dr Brigitta Kurenbach, and other scientists from New Zealand and Mexico. Below Prof Heinemann and Dr Kurenbach respond to questions from GMWatch.

GMW: What did you find?

Heinemann: When we exposed either of two different species of bacteria to common herbicides that we purchased at a local store, we found that the bacteria changed their response to antibiotics. They often became antibiotic resistant, but we also occasionally saw increased susceptibility or no effect.

Comey was back before Congress this week - this time in front of the House Appropriations Committee - imploring Congressmen to pass a law that would force tech companies to create a backdoor in any phone or communications tool that uses encryption.

He also revealed the Obama administration may be crafting such a law right now. “One of the things that the administration is working on right now is what would a legislative response look like that would allow us … with court process to get access to that evidence”, he said.

American People Should Hold War Lobby Accountable for Libya Debacle

Worse, pressure is building for the U.S. again to intervene in Libya. It took a decade before the sectarian flames fed by the invasion of Iraq lit the Islamic State. It took less than three years for the administration's intervention in Libya to blow up spectacularly. Observed Glenn Greenwald, "Libya has rapidly unraveled in much the way Iraq did following that invasion: swamped by militia rule, factional warfare, economic devastation, and complete lawlessness." With fresh rumors springing late on Friday that "this" just may be the weekend Greece - with close to no funds left in either the financial or government sector - imposes capital controls, a precursor to a full-fledged Grexit, the situation in Athens is on a knife's edge. Yesterday is also when the Syriza government submitted its list of 18 proposed reforms to the Troika: a reform package which the Guardian dubs "reform-for-cash", as Greece hopes the roughly €3 billion in revenue generated from the reforms will unlock €7.2 billion in financial assistance.

Rather, make that promises of reforms to generate €3 billion in revenue. Because the question, and problem for Athens, is which comes first: does Greece implement the reforms and generate the revenue or does Europe disburse the funds. It is a problem because the reforms will be extremely unpopular if and when they pass.

Irish Government plan to deny human freedom to protect their revenue stream

A story of serious concern has finally hit the mainstream papers today involving the Gardai, your PPS numbers and the unlawful removal of your freedom.

RTE report (see below) that the Criminal Justice Working Group set up early last year have made a number of suggestions including giving Gardai access to PPS numbers of all drivers. This however is the tip of the iceberg as the plan is to use them to identify people to prevent them from traveling or trading.

We are seeing the construction of a system that will be used to curtail human rights in an attempt to maximise the revenue government generates form old and new legislation, through penalty charges and fines.

We have already experienced this, with the government preventing people selling their own homes until they pay back charges and fines lumped onto the household charge or property taxes, and even the cost of energy audits.

Fracking Town’s Desperate Laid-off Workers: ‘They Don’t Tell You It’s All a Lie’

From the looks of it, the nation’s boomtown is still booming. Big rigs, cement mixers and oil tankers still clog streets built for lighter loads. The air still smells like diesel fuel and looks like a dust bowl— all that traffic — and natural gas flares, wasted byproducts of the oil wells, still glare out at the night sky like bonfires.

Not to mention that Walmart, still the main game in town, can’t seem to get a handle on its very long lines and half empty shelves.

A Middle East Holocaust — Paul Craig Roberts

I have been around for a long time and have experienced more than most. The current situation in my experience is the most dangerous time of all for humanity.

Nuclear weapons are no longer restrained by the Cold War MAD doctrine. Washington has released them into pre-emptive first strike form.

The targets of these pre-emptive strikes–Russia and China–know it, because Washington proudly proclaims its immorality in public documents describing its war doctrine.

The result is to maximize the chance of nuclear war. If you were Russia and China, and you knew that Washington had a war doctrine that permits a surprise nuclear attack, would you sit there waiting while Washington cranks up its anti-Russian and anti-Chinese propaganda machine, demonizing both countries as a threat to “freedom and democracy”?

ADL RELEASES THIS YEAR’S ‘AUDIT’ OF ANTI-SEMITISM

Anti-Semitic incidents in the United States rose by 21 percent in 2014, according to the Anti-Defamation League’s annual audit of anti-Semitism.

During the war last summer between Israel and Hamas in Gaza, anti-Semitic incidents more than doubled compared to the same period in 2013. The ADL said it does not count criticism of Israel or Zionism as anti-Semitic except when it crosses the line “from legitimate criticism to anti-Semitism by invoking classic anti-Jewish stereotypes or inappropriate Nazi imagery and/or analogies.”

IN PHOTOS ~~ 5K GAZA RUN

On Saturday morning, March 28th, the sky over Prospect Park in Brooklyn was leaden, the temperature was more appropriate to January than March, and it seemed to get worse as the hours passed. However, that did not stop a spirited group of about 600 participants which included every race, ethnicity, and age from gathering to run, or walk, a 5K loop in the park. The event was organized by UNRWA in order to raise money to provide mental health services for the traumatized children of Gaza. Buoyed only by the comradery and love for the children of Gaza, the runners took off at about 9:30 AM with the swifter among them crossing the finish line fairly shortly thereafter. The walkers returned much later.
