The Obama Game : Is Putin Being Lured Into a Trap?

The coup government’s crackdown on ethnic Russians in Donetsk and Kharkiv could lead to a Russian intervention which would provide the justification that Washington is looking for. However painful it is for Putin to watch Russian speaking Ukrainians get beaten and perhaps killed by Nazi thugs and foreign mercenaries dressed up as Ukrainian Security Forces, he should avoid sending in the troops. It’s a trap.
Vladimir Putin, whatever one may think of him, has not done anything to fuel the violence and chaos that has spread across the country.

“Russia … is now recognized as the center of the global ‘mutiny’ against global dictatorship of the US and EU. Its generally peaceful .. approach is in direct contrast to brutal and destabilizing methods used by the US and EU…. The world is waking up to reality that there actually is, suddenly, some strong and determined resistance to Western imperialism. After decades of darkness, hope is emerging.” – Andre Vltchek.

Germany has no alternative to Russian gas

Germany faces a renewed debate on energy in the wake of the ongoing Ukraine crisis. To a large extent, the country depends on Russian oil and natural gas imports. Just recently Chancellor Angela Merkel made it clear that “all of Germany’s energy policies must be reconsidered.” According to Germany’s Energy Balances Group (AGEB), imported rose to 71 percent of all sources of energy last year.

The most important energy supplier is Russia: It provides 38 percent of Germany’s natural gas imports, 35 percent of all oil imports and 25 percent of coal imports, covering a quarter of the country’s entire energy needs. There are no suitable alternatives in sight that could cover shortfalls of this magnitude.

Germany warns of war in Europe

Gabriel - at an event commemorating World War I with French Prime Minister Manuel Valls - warned of resurgent nationalist forces both within Europe and "in its neighbourhood".

He said that good news several months ago from Ukraine - including an end to bloody violence against protesters - had since given way to "an ongoing military confrontation" and the realization that "Russia is apparently willing to let tanks cross European borders."

"Suddenly, we are being dragged from the observer's position into a long smouldering and incendiary conflict, which is also demanding a price from Europe in the form of sanctions against Russia," he said.

Foreign minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier, meanwhile, called the danger of Europe splitting a “real one”.

Responsible foreign policy has to make sure that this is prevented,” he told Swiss newspaper the Neue Zürcher Zeitung.

German space center 'spied on by foreign intelligence'

A Der Spiegel insider familiar with the probe said the malicious code discovered by the Germans suggested a Chinese origin. It contained some Chinese characters in comments and recurring typos characteristic of Asian programmers.

But those may be just camouflage to hide the true identity of the attacker, the source added. Involvement of a western intelligence agency, for example the US National Security Agency (NSA), cannot be ruled out, the source said.

German government has ramped up its counter-cyber-espionage efforts in the wake of the revelation of the scale of electronic surveillance program of the NSA.

President Vladimir Putin’s letter to leaders of European countries

Western media’s relentless demonizing of President Putin is backfiring. President Putin’s approval ratings hits a three year high and have risen to 88% (The Independent and BBC reported) in the past week, as Russians back their president over Ukraine, a height western leaders can only dream of.

“It goes without saying that Russia is prepared to participate in the effort to stabilize and restore Ukraine’s economy, however, not in a unilateral way, but on equal conditions with our European partners.” writes President Putin.

Angela Merkel denied access to her NSA file - Guardian

The US government is refusing to grant Angela Merkel access to her NSA file or answer formal questions from Germany about its surveillance activities, raising the stakes before a crucial visit by the German chancellor to Washington.

Merkel will meet Barack Obama in three weeks, on her first visit to the US capital since documents leaked by whistleblower Edward Snowden revealed that the NSA had been monitoring her phone.

The face-to-face meeting between the two world leaders had been intended as an effort to publicly heal wounds after the controversy, but Germany remains frustrated by the White House's refusal to come clean about its surveillance activities in the country.

Topics discussed include the following:
1. The Ukraine turmoil and Russia and China's coordinated Financial and Commercial Response to the threats of the West led by the US
2. Though most of the Non-Western world is backing Russia, there are 3 countries in particular that will play a key supporting role in this new 'cold war', and at least two of these have been strong allies of the US in recent times.
3. Jim gives his insight into what he sees happening to US treasuries and the US dollar, and the Petrodollar in the short and long term.
4. Jim forecasts a 'Split' dollar, a domestic dollar, let's call it the Republic dollar, and dollars held outside the US will become 'International' dollars.
5. The pressures that Jim sees placed upon the Domestic dollar and it's near instantaneous 33% devaluation (to start.)
6. The coming BARTER System for settlement of international trade, reducing the US dollar to the dustbin of history.

Washington and NATO’s New Surrealpolitik

NATO and Washington are not only inverting fact and reality over Ukraine and the wider serious geopolitical implications. The reckless distortion is delivered with a contempt born of the most fatuous purblind arrogance. The conundrum is how to deal with such insanity?

The acting (sic) president in Kiev Oleksandr Turchynov has labeled all those seeking political autonomy in Kharkov, Donetsk, Lugansk and other pro-Russian cities in the east of the country as «terrorists and criminals»; a new set of laws cobbled together by the junta – two months before scheduled official elections have taken place and therefore of dubious legality – gives the self-appointed politicians in Kiev the power to prosecute any one that does not recognize their self-imposed authority…

Look at the World from Behind the Wall: Part Two

Today, almost to the month, Obama is faced with the reality he did not wish to face: Israel has had and does not have any desire to create a Palestinian State, indeed it mocks the very concept and belittles the efforts of Obama and Kerry to attempt to establish such a state. That is now blatantly obvious even to a blind person.

What to do? Take advantage of this opportunity thrown in his lap by the Israelis and send the issue back to the United Nations where it began and where it must be resolved. What will this accomplish? It will break the shackles that bind our Congress to a foreign government; it will release the President to give opportunity and authority to the United Nations to deal with this issue without conflict with the United States;

The implications for economic growth across Eurasia are staggering.

U.S. ‘Monitoring’ Development Of European Communication Network Proposals

n February, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said that she’s going to talk to the President of France, Francois Hollande, about building a separate communications network for Europe so as to stop data from passing through the U.S. The U.S. has criticized such proposals and has said that they may breach international trade laws. Office of the U.S. Trade Representative said that obstructions to cross-border data flows are a serious and growing concern.

The U.S. has been heavily criticized ever since word of the NSA’s global electronic spying programs broke last summer. Documents leaked by former CIA technical analyst Edward Snowden revealed just how widespread the NSA’s clandestine spying operations are. Apparently it also spied on allies of the U.S., which weren’t exactly happy when all this came to light.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Popular Discontent Grows with German Media Lies in Ukraine Crisis

An unprecedented wave of anti-Russian propaganda has dominated the German media in the wake of the US- and German-backed coup in Kiev. Leading publications such as Der Spiegel, Die Zeit, Süddeutsche Zeitun g and Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, but also so-called “alternative” media outlets such as the taz (which has close links to the Greens) are loudly demanding military action against Russia, outdoing one another with menacing attacks on Russian President Vladimir Putin who they describe as a new Hitler and aggressor.

This propaganda campaign, reminiscent of the conformist press of totalitarian dictatorships, has so far had a limited effect. Many readers are repulsed by the campaign and have responded angrily. This is reflected in the letters pages of newspaper and online comment pages.

The Sympathy Problem: Is Germany a Country of Russia Apologists?

Is it acceptable for a person to be sympathetic towards or have an understanding for Russia's actions in Crimea? Are Moscow's claims justifiable? Did the West provoke Russian President Vladimir Putin? For weeks, this debate has dominated the public discussion in Germany like no other. Generally, foreign policy remains a niche topic for experts. Russia has proven to be the exception.

Webmaster's Commentary:

It would appear that the German people understand that the Ukraine crisis was provoked by the US-backed covert overthrow of Ukraine's elected government. But Der Spiegel is trying to spin any lack of support for confrontation as a bad thing, similar to Bill Kristol's Weekly Standard article of a couple weeks back in which he lamented the American peoples' "War Weary" lack of enthusiasm for more blood.

“BDS is irrelevant.” Oh, really?

Rosenberg gives himself a hard time worrying that there would be no more Israel if Israelis had to obey international law and UN resolutions, and return the lands and resources they stole from the Palestinians. It's “an actual country”, he maintains. But I bet he cannot tell us its actual borders.

A quick trip to the BDS movement's website http://www.bdsmovement.net/call will expose Rosenberg's attempt to mislead.

What maddens Zionists most is that they cannot control civil society like they can pull the strings of the spineless political élite. They fear BDS action (Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions) will derail their precious project for a Greater Israel. So they now sneer at civil society and try to discourage further BDS efforts. This tactic comes across loud and clear in Michael Rosenberg's article 'The Goal Of The BDS Movement Is Dismantling Israel, Not The ’67 Occupation'.

How Americans can help world peace

A first step for world peace is for the American people to rein in their reckless government from the international stage and to stop it making misery for so many.

Americans need democratic government like the rest of the world needs rid of Washington's thuggish global policeman.

This may come as a shock to many ordinary Americans who tend to think that their country is already the beacon of democratic light unto the world, bestowing all sorts of benevolence to others. Such delusional "American exceptionalism" has to stop. America is only special in a very negative meaning. It plays a central part in fomenting conflict in almost every scenario we care to look at.

We see this nefarious US role in the never-ending Israeli-Palestinian travesty known as a "peace process". In reality, this process is but a continual green light for the Israeli regime to commit massive violation of international laws against the long-suffering Palestinian people.

German firms fear spiraling sanctions in Ukraine, Russia

The story of Gluhvizi has made everyone nervous. A few days ago, some shady looking men turned up at the kaolinite factory in Gluhvizi, some 200 kilometers (125 miles) west of Kyiv, and said they wanted to install a representative in the management. The factory belongs to the German Quarzwerke company, which is based near Cologne.

According to Quarzwerke's boss, Otto Hieber, the Ukrainian representative was supposed to control the company and influence the distribution of wages. "It was an organization which called itself 'People's Self-Defense Committee.'"

This story ended happily: the Ukrainian workers chased the men from the factory and Hieber still has control of his subsidiary. A little further east there was a similar case - there too local gangs tried to use the political chaos to take over a German company.

Ubisoft Printed The Wrong Versions Of South Park Game For Germany, Forgetting To Remove The Swastikas

With the release of the latest South Park video game, titled The Stick Of Truth, we recently remarked on how silly the attempted censorship of the game will be for releases outside of North America. The reason, of course, is that the full version of the game is and will be available for download outside of the approved channels. While most of the censorship stories revolve around some of the more sophomoric jokes in the game, which I of course love, leave it to Germany to teach us how fickle the sensibilities of some governments are.

Apparently the game was supposed to be released in the land whose motto is "Unity and Justice and Freedom" this week, but that's been delayed because the game's publisher, Ubisoft, accidentally produced copies of the game for Germany that still include images of the Nazi swastika. Such images, as you might be aware, are verboten.

This Is The Gas Pipeline Map That Shows Why The Crisis In Ukraine Affects All Of Europe

If you question the strategic location of Ukraine, check out this map that Agence France-Presse made last in December — two months before protesters in Kiev forced President Viktor Yanukovych out of office.

Russia has now invaded the strategic Black Sea peninsula of Crimea, and markets are spooked at the possibility that Russian troops that are being built up on the border could enter eastern Ukraine.

As the international tug-of-war for Ukraine continues, the tension involving economic relations in the region — especially regarding gas flow from Russia to both Ukraine and Europe — will increase.

Germany is perhaps the best example of this, as described by Noah Barkin of Reuters: "Heavily dependent on Russian gas and closer to Moscow than any other leading western nation, Germany faces a major policy dilemma as the Ukraine crisis descends into a Cold War-style confrontation of tit-for-tat threats and ultimatums."

President Roosevelt's Campaign To Incite War in Europe:The Secret Polish Documents

Much has already been written about Roosevelt's campaign of deception and outright lies in getting the United States to intervene in the Second World War prior to the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor in December 1941. Roosevelt's aid to Britain and the Soviet Union in violation of American neutrality and international law, his acts of war against Germany in the Atlantic in an effort to provoke a German declaration of war against the United States, his authorization of a vast "dirty tricks" campaign against U.S. citizens by British intelligence agents in violation of the Constitution, and his provocations and ultimatums against Japan which brought on the attack against Pearl Harbor -- all this is extensively documented and reasonably well known.[1]

In Defense of Helen Thomas: What’s Wrong With History?

Helen Thomas’s recent request to purchase a table at the upcoming White House Correspondents Association (WHCA) annual dinner has been rejected.

In a comment on that story I said, “It’s hard to imagine anything more wrong than this.”
