Philip Giraldi: Stopping Cyber Hate

ADL has recently been meeting in California with a British group called the Inter-Parliamentary Coalition for Combating Anti-Semitism, which included the Community Security Trust (CST). The CST advocates physical response to anti-Semitic incidents, to include the equipping and training of organized “self-defense” forces. CST is controversial in the UK, partly because many British Jews believe they are adequately protected by the police. It has also been criticized because its Director is the highest paid head of any Jewish organization in the country and its finances are alleged to be non-transparent.

An article entitled “Web giants unite to fight online hate” described the purpose of the California meeting. It reported that a “game changing” agreement was reached with Twitter, Facebook, Google and Microsoft to take steps to stop “the proliferation of racist and abusive comments” and to “force racism and hatred from the web.”

Tables turned — Israel on the run

With support for the BDS Movement growing globally from organized labour, the potential economic threat to the Zionist regime is staggering

Last month saw the extraordinary possibility of a change in the power dynamic between Palestine and Israel. It confirmed the fact that a heretofore almost unnoticed, nonviolent campaign called Boycotts, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) Movement has Israel on the run.

Washington Admits: FSA Equals Fictitious Syrian Army

US President Barack Obama hosted a top-level war council this past week in Washington with the military leaders from 21 countries in attendance – under the official remit of coordinating tactics to defeat the Islamic State extremist group in Syria and Iraq.

Hold on a minute. Congress has approved $500 million to train a new cohort of the supposedly moderate and secular Free Syrian Army; and Saudi Arabia and Turkey are providing bases for that undertaking. But at Obama’s seminal war council on «coordinating» plans there was not one representative from the much-vaunted moderate rebels who are assigned this crucial military role.

Illan Pappe & Miko Peled on Zionist Israel

Below are a couple of compelling presentations by brave and bold, historian Illan Pappe, and peace activist Miko Peled respectively.

I salute both men, for having the courage to move outside the Zionist narrative they grew up on, to stand up when their principles called for it, to give us an honest appraisal of where Israel as a society stands today, which most Israelis would prefer to remain in denial of, because, to acknowledge the truth, would destroy all of their sustaining myths and leave them bereft of all of the lies which have sustained and justified their existence.

Miko is absolutely right in his disclaimer, of course… you cannot expect a balance presentation on this topic, because the issue itself is not balanced. There is no balance therefore there cannot be a balanced presentation on this topic, Miko correctly reiterates.

What is Zionism?

- its history and role over the past 150 years

Today, Zionism has become the most dominant ideology in the western world and is the most significant expression of Anglo-American imperialism, and reached a new stage by ”Project for a New American Century”.

Zionism is, according to its own prominent figures, a religious/political movement the aim of which is to create a socialistic model state for Jews in the land of Palestine where Mount Zion is located. Its roots are found in Judaism and in the middle of the nineteenth century Moses Hess, Karl Marx’s mentor in socialism, developed it into a political movement.

New Horizon Conference: Meeting of Minds in Tehran

The 2nd conference “New Horizon: the International Conference of Independent Thinkers” was held in Tehran, September 29–October 1 2014, including over 30 journalists, writers and academics from around the world presenting papers and arguing issues of world geopolitics, with a focus on the Middle East.

Contrary to the shrill cries in the western media that the conference was anti-Semitic, it was unique in my experience in addressing Zionism and US imperialism forthrightly and intelligently, without a hint of racism. The issue of anti-Semitism was addressed and dismissed, as “There is no issue with Jewish people or the Jewish religion,” explained Darya-Bandari, “but rather with Zionism, that secular distortion of Judaism that itself is racist, and has been used as a pretext to dispossess and kill Palestinians.”

Pepe Escobar: What’s the deal between Iran and the US?

I’ve just spent a frantic week in Tehran as a guest of the New Horizon conference of Independent Thinkers. Here is some of what I’ve witnessed.
Three overarching themes monopolize all important discussions in Tehran at this critical historical juncture:

1) the real possibility of a nuclear deal with the P5+1 on November 24;
2) the end of sanctions and the possibility of Iran soon starting to supply the EU with loads of natural gas;
3) the fight against ISIS/ISIL, which Iranians, as much as the Arab street, refer to as Daesh.

I was quite moved by the profound respect shown to Gareth’s investigative work in Tehran, in contrast to the thunderous wall of silence that greeted his book in the US. Call it yet another reflection of the 35-year old “wilderness of mirrors” – or Wall of Mistrust – opposing Washington to Tehran.

Billions set aside for post-Saddam Iraq turned up in Lebanese bunker

More than $1bn earmarked for the reconstruction of Iraq was stolen and spirited to a bunker in Lebanon as the American and Iraqi governments ignored appeals to recover the money, it has been claimed.

Stuart Bowen, a former special inspector general who investigated corruption and waste in Iraq, said the stash accounted for a significant chunk of the huge sums which vanished during the chaotic months following the 2003 US-led invasion.

Bowen’s team discovered that $1.2bn to $1.6bn was moved to a bunker in rural Lebanon for safe keeping – and then pleaded in vain for Baghdad and Washington to act, according to James Risen, a journalist who interviewed Bowen for a book, Pay Any Price: Greed, Power and Endless War, to be published this week.

A Historic Vote on Palestine in the British Parliament

The idea of Israel is changing in the minds of its allies. It is no longer a cause. It is becoming heavy baggage.

This is not the effect of a larger Muslim community. All Britons today are more likely to be aware of the 14,000 settlements Israel approved during its nine month peace talks with the Palestinians; to wonder where a Palestinian state is going to go , with more than 600,000 settlers in occupied East Jerusalem and the West Bank; to acknowledge the insouciant racism of Israeli discourse about non-Jews; to recoil at the cost in Palestinian civilian lives of Israel’s definition of its own security.

Two Types of Virulent Anti-Semitism

Israel has long devoted major funding and great effort to deflecting blame for its policies and practices by raising the black flag of anti-Semitism to discredit responsible and deserved criticism.

As the Palestinian solidarity movement grows across the world, it is obvious that this form of hasbara (propaganda) is failing.

Oct 10 22:19

Is this Palestine’s last chance?

Ever since I began taking an interest in the Palestinians’ struggle – nearly ten years ago – those brave people have been cursed with rubbish leadership that has taken them steadily backwards instead of forwards… leadership that studiously ignores Palestine’s friends outside, fails its people inside and allows its territory and resources to dwindle.

The words “unity government” are on everyone’s lips. But is it really a good idea for Palestinians to unite under the likes of Abbas and his cockeyed, lazy PLO? Where are the alternative leaders hiding?

Please don’t tell us there aren’t any.

The myth of Assad, ISIL and extremism

Joe Biden’s comments last week linking US Mideast allies to the funding and arming of ISIL, Al Nusra & Al Qaeda were preceded by a surprising number of similar comments by current and former western officials in the past month. This is unusual notes Middle East geopolitical analyst Sharmine Narwani, because the West’s narrative for years has been to blame Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and his allies for the proliferation of extremism in the region.

In her latest offering at RT’s Op-Edge, Ms. Narwani examines two secret US documents that tell a different story altogether.

UNIFIL denies saying Israel fired cluster bombs into Lebanon

he United Nations’ observer force in Lebanon on Thursday denied telling Lebanese security sources that Israel had fired cluster bombs into Lebanon after an attack on IDF soldiers by Hezbollah on Tuesday.

The Israeli artillery fire caused damage to 10 sites in Kfar Chouba and the Shebaa Farms region, Lebanese news source The Daily Star reported, citing unnamed security sources.

From Sykes-Picot to “Degrade and Destroy”

The history of the Middle East from the day the Sykes-Picot agreement was signed, until the day the U.S. began bombing ISIS, is filled with lies and half-lies.

The current conflict between the U.S. and its allies is a conflict that can only be understood by a look back to the Sykes-Picot Agreement, the 1919 document that allowed Great Britain and France to carve up the Ottoman Empire for their own selfish colonial purposes.

Palestine’s Moral Force Needs Diplomatic Power

The Palestinian leadership should have turned to international legal forums years ago in order to pressure Israel by harnessing the power of international public opinion through sanctions and boycotts, just as was the case with Apartheid South Africa decades ago.

The Palestine cause is just and compelling, but on its own moral and legal merits it has no power to leverage global diplomacy in order to achieve Palestinian rights and a lasting peace agreement that responds to Israeli and Palestinian needs alike. One of the unfortunate weaknesses that has left the Palestine issue unresolved for so long has been the incompetence of the Palestinian leadership...

Pentagon War Plans in 2001: Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, & Iran

Here is the transcript of Gen. Clark’s account.
CLARK: About 10 days after 9/11, I went to the Pentagon, and I saw [Defense] Secretary [Donald] Rumsfeld and Deputy Secretary [Paul] Wolfowitz. I went downstairs to say hello to some of the people on the joint staff that used to work for me.

One of the generals called me in and said, “Sir, you gotta come in and talk to me.” I said, “Sir, you’re too busy.” And he said, “No, no! We’ve made the decision — we’re going to war with Iraq!” This is on or about the 28th of September. I said, “We’re going to war with Iraq? Why!?” He said, “I don’t know!” He said, “I guess they don’t know what else to do.” So I said, “Did they find some information connecting Saddam to al Qaeda?” He said, “No, no, there’s nothing new that way. They just made the decision to go to war with Iraq.” He said, “I guess its like we don’t know what to do about terrorists, but we’ve got a good military and we can take down governments.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

OK , folks; if it wasn't clear to you that these invasions are part of a long-form plan before reading what General Clark had to say, I would like to hope that you do now.

There was a marvelous line in the second Sherlock Homes film, where the Moriarty character says that he wants to control the market on bullets and bandages for the coming war.

And this is no different than the military industrial corporations which are collectively SALIVATING over the next major military confrontation the US will be having, because the profitability of such a war for them will be extraordinarily high.

Wars are NEVER about our safety, security, and alleged "freedoms"; it is all about private corporate profit, and this is why our young men and women in uniform are going to die and get maimed for life in the horrendous military confrontation I see coming, which may well engulf the entire world.

Concealed By U.S. Airstrikes Israel Opens Nusra Path To Lebanon

Under the protection of the U.S. attack on IS and other targets Israel now practically established a no-fly-zone next to the Golan which will allow Jabhat al-Nusra to safely use the corridor and to attack Hizbullah in Qalamoun and in south Lebanon. It also opens space for new attacks on Damascus.

The U.S. attack on the IS in Syria will, as the NYT headlines express, have as little effect as such attacks have in Iraq. Without coordinating air attacks with a capable, available ground force like the Syrian army such strikes on IS will make no conceivable difference. I have yet to see any report that the U.S. planes have hit some of the major weapons or ammunition depots the IS captured from the Iraqi army. There are some 50 main battle tanks and lots of heavy artillery pieces in the hands of IS. What is done to disable those?

Webmaster's Commentary:

I have only one word for this approach: insane.

The American Establishment Combats Resurgent “Isolationist” Threat

It had become apparent in 2013 that the American people had grown averse to America’s involvement in wars, and this was given empirical confirmation by a poll conducted by the Pew Research Center in November 2013, which revealed that 51 percent of Americans believed that their country’s military involvement was excessive.[1] Once again the bugaboo of isolationism entered the mainstream spotlight, the derogatory label being attached to those who would like to cut back America’s global intervention.[2] Opposition to the alleged resurgent isolationism united all sectors of the mainstream establishment–liberals, moderates, and conservatives, the ultra-interventionist neoconservatives and the more moderate traditional foreign policy establishment.

Israel preparing for ‘very violent’ war against Hezbollah, TV report says

Just 10 days after a ceasefire ended a 50-day Israel-Hamas conflict, the Israeli army is “making plans and training” for “a very violent war” against Hezbollah in south Lebanon, an Israeli TV report said Friday night, without specifying when this war might break out.

The report, for which the army gave Israel’s Channel 2 access to several of its positions along the border with Lebanon, featured an IDF brigade commander warning that such a conflict “will be a whole different story” from the Israel-Hamas conflict in which over 2,000 Gazans (half of them gunmen according to Israel) and 72 Israelis were killed. “We will have to use considerable force” to quickly prevail over the Iranian-backed Hezbollah, “to act more decisively, more drastically,” said Colonel Dan Goldfus, commander of the 769th Hiram Infantry Brigade.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Translation: Israel is going to invade Lebanon, and will go right to the Litani River, because they desperately so need the water.

This again underscores the Israeli government's stance that they don't want a true, just, and lasting peace in the region, but territory, and by any means necessary.

FLASHBACK 2006 - THE TWO ISRAELI SOLDIERSWERE CAPTURED IN LEBANON

The Lebanese Shiite Hezbollah movement announced on Wednesday that its guerrillas have captured two Israeli soldiers in southern Lebanon. "Implementing our promise to free Arab prisoners in Israeli jails, our strugglers have captured two Israeli soldiers in southern Lebanon," a statement by Hezbollah said. "The two soldiers have already been moved to a safe place," it added. The Lebanese police said that the two soldiers were captured as they "infiltrated" into the town of Aitaa al-Chaab inside the Lebanese border. [Hindustan Times 7/12/06]

Webmaster's Commentary:

What Israel did to start the 2006 war with Lebanon is send two of their uniformed soldiers across the border into the town of Aitaa al-Chaab, where they were promptly captured. “The Israeli Dream”: The Criminal Roadmap Towards “Greater Israel”?

The concept of a “Greater Israel” according to the founding father of Zionism Theodore Herzl, is a Jewish State stretching “’From the Brook of Egypt to the Euphrates.’

The Promised Land extends from the River of Egypt up to the Euphrates, it includes parts of Syria and Lebanon’”, wrote Michel Chossudovsky. (1)

Rocket fire from Lebanon hits Israel, unclear who was behind attack

Gaza rocket fire struck a gas station and set it ablaze Friday in southern Israel, seriously wounding one person as rocket fire also came from Lebanon for the first time in the four-day offensive.

The explosion in Ashdod sent plumes of smoke high into the air. Israeli health officials said the blast wounded three people, including one in serious condition. Rocket fire continued in earnest from Gaza toward various locations in southern Israel.

Gaza fighters have fired more than 400 rockets against Israel in the offensive. Israel's "Iron Dome" defense system has intercepted most aimed at major cities.

The rocket fire on Friday came hours after about 100,000 Gaza residents living in cities near the border with Israel were reportedly told Thursday to leave their homes ahead of anticipated military action by the Israeli army, according to Israeli media reports.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Don't let that phrase used by Intelligence Minister Steinitz used about about the IDF taking Gaza over "temporarily" fool you: this will be a full-on, permanent military occupation, leaving as many dead and maimed Gazans as possible.

It is because of Thomas as much as anyone else that women were first included at the WHCA dinner since, as the WHCA’s website mentions:
