Obamacare enrollment erroneously inflated

(Bloomberg) — The Obama administration said it erroneously calculated the number of people with health coverage under the Affordable Care Act, incorrectly adding 380,000 dental subscribers to raise the total above 7 million. The accurate number with full health-care plans is 6.7 million as of Oct. 15, a spokesman for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services confirmed yesterday, saying the U.S. won't include dental plans in future reports.

Dark Money Casts Shadow on Democracy

The week before the general election, UNM Political Science Associate Professor Mike Rocca presented a primer on campaign financing and a troubling change in the way political campaigns are being financed with dark money.

The 2014 general election may not be the most expensive election in U.S. history, even though experts expect it to total more than $4 billion in money raised and spent. But it may win for the amount of dark money that flowed through the races.

Europe Veering From US Abyss Over Russia?

One hopes that Europe is beginning to part ways with the US direction on Russia – a direction that is leading to an abyss.

It’s long overdue but better late than never that Europe might just be back-pedaling on America’s aggressive agenda towards Russia. The business-like visit to Moscow this week by Germany’s Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier suggests that Europe can come to its senses to seek a diplomatic resolution of the escalating tensions over the Ukraine crisis – tensions that could spark a wider continental war, or worse.

Steinmeier met with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov in which the pair stressed the need to find a political end to the violence in Ukraine.

Who is Gary Hirshberg, and why is he bankrolling a losing anti-GMO campaign?

Jon Rappoport
Activist Post

“Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev recently announced that Russia will no longer import GMO products, stating that the nation has enough space, and enough resources to produce organic food. ‘If the Americans like to eat GMO products, let them eat them. We don’t need to do that; we have enough space and opportunities to produce organic food.’” (Collective Evolution, April 15, 2014, “It’s Official—Russia completely bans GMOs.”)

Gary Hirshberg is the CEO of Stonyfield Organics. “Love me. Hold me. Spoon me.” Yogurt, smoothies, milk, butter.

He is a founding partner of the Just Label It group. You know, “consumers have a right to know what’s in their food yada yada yada…”

US Never Intended to Defeat ISIS

Tony Cartalucci
Activist Post

A torrent of “foiled” terror plots have recently dominated headlines across the Western World. In Rochester New York, the FBI netted a man they claimed was plotting a shooting spree targeting US service members. In Australia, over 800 security agents swooped in on 15 ISIS suspects whom the Australian government claimed were plotting to randomly behead a member of the public. In the UK, 4 suspects allegedly linked to ISIS were arrested before carrying out a plot Scotland Yards claims was aimed at the Queen of England herself.

According to Western security agencies, in addition to ISIS’ regional campaign of brutality stretching from Lebanon, across Syria, and into Iraq, it is also working ceaselessly to carry out attacks against targets within the US, across Europe, and even in the Pacific...

President set to sign immigrant plan in Las Vegas

President Barack Obama is traveling to Las Vegas on Friday to sign an executive order that would offer temporary legal status to millions of immigrants who are in the country illegally and set off a new fight with Republicans in Congress.

Obama plans to speak at Del Sol High School, which he first visited as a presidential candidate in 2008 and where he first laid out a broad immigration plan in January 2013.

This time he will be arriving in Las Vegas to deliver at least part of his promise for reform, and will renew a challenge to the new GOP majorities in Congress to pass an immigration bill if they don’t like it, White House officials said.

Obama, in a video released on Facebook, said he would make a nationally televised announcement on immigration from the White House at 8 p.m. EST today, then would go to Las Vegas to promote the plan Friday. Del Sol High is in a largely Hispanic neighborhood east of McCarran International Airport.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Funny how Eisenhower was able to completely stop the illegal immigrants with only 1/10th the border patrol agents Obama has! What is broken about immigration is actually enforcing the laws and THAT is the responsibility of the White House. It is called the Executive Branch because under the Constitution, the President executes the will of the Congress. Clearly, with regards to enforcing the immigration laws, it is the President who has failed, not the Congress. But, sadly, we have a President who appears to be suffering from narcissistic personality disorder, unable to admit when he is wrong (just look at Obamacare) and hence will exceed his lawful authority to create new laws to cover up his ineptitude at enforcing the will of the Congress and the American people.

Abuse Campaigners Are Not Conspiracy Theorists, Mr Cameron

Cameron has spun in a different direction, arithmetically, trying to convince people concerned about child abuse and cover-ups that two plus two makes nothing. Spinning on the day the Wanless report, into missing Home Office documents said to contain information about powerful people abusing children, was released, Cameron resorted to calling abuse campaigners conspiracy theorists. To do so, he exploited the fact that evidence could not be found within a few weeks to explain just how at least 114 files concerning child abuse went missing.

One of the missing files is a dossier presented in 1983 to then Home Secretary Leon Brittan by the Conservative MP Geoffrey Dickens. Mr Dickens, who is now deceased, spoke in 1983 of a paedophile ring involving "big, big names - people in positions of power, influence and responsibility". Despite attempts to posthumously smear Dickens, there has been progress in investigating abuse rings linked to powerful people, including those involving the Paedophile Information Exchange (PIE).

Peaceful countries tend to have free and independent media, which disseminate information in a way that leads to greater openness and helps individuals and civil society work together. I'll be running video at the Seattle area seminar in Yelm, Washington November 29 - December 5, 2014. More details and registration are here:

America Truly Is Becoming A “1984 Society”

If only George Orwell could see us today. When he wrote “1984” back in 1948, he probably never imagined that the “totalitarian, bureaucratic world” that he imagined would ever actually become a reality. But that is precisely what is happening. We live at a time when the government monitors billions of our phone calls and emails and hardly anyone gets upset about it. We live at a time when corporations systematically collect our voiceprints and our televisions watch us. We live at a time when reporters that try to dig into the misdeeds of the government have their computers hacked, and when nearly one out of every three Americans has a file in the FBI’s master criminal database.

Hillary the Warmonger

Glenn Greenwald has revealed that Hillary Clinton is the presidential candidate of the banksters and warmongers. Pam and Russ Martens note that Elizabeth Warren is the populist alternative. I doubt that a politician who represents the people can acquire the campaign funds needed to run a campaign. If Warren becomes a threat, the Establishment will frame her with bogus charges and move her aside.

Academic Madness and the Politics of Exile

Ideological fundamentalism and political purity appear to have a strong grip on US and Canadian societies as can be seen in the endless attacks on reason, truth, critical thinking and informed exchange. In Canada, Prime Minister Stephen Harper decries what he derisively attacks as intellectuals and journalists who are "committing sociology" by which he means holding power accountable. For Harper, the attack on "committing sociology" becomes synonymous with removing critical thought from both the university and public discourse.

New video shows Obamacare architect Jonathan Gruber agreeing that states' opposition to massive Medicaid expansion may be race-related

The hits just keep coming for MIT economics professor Jonathan Gruber, the Obamacare architect under fire for his controversial statements about the health care reform law.

Video unearthed today by veteran White House reporter Keith Koffler shows Gruber agreeing that states' opposition to the Medicaid expansion dictated by the federal health law may be race-related.

He also claimed states that rejected federal funds for Medicaid wanted 'to punish poor people,' which he said 'really is just almost awesome in its evilness.'

Petitioning Jim Benson - Stop Fracking next to El Paso, Texas

Fracking endangers the health, safety and welfare of people, pollutes the air and ground, results in rising crime and social and medical costs, utterly destroys ecosystems and permanently contaminates underground aquifers with toxic compounds and consumes billions of gallons of water. Yet, just a few minutes away from the city limits of El Paso, Texas a major metropolitan area of 675,000 people, and a few miles from the farming community of Dell City, Texas, the University of Texas System has leased over a hundred thousand acres to Torchlight Energy Resources, Inc. for the sole purpose of fracking. Torchlight Energy says that it may drill up to as many as 2500 wells on this area immediately east of El Paso called the Diablo Plateau which, with the Otero Mesa in New Mexico, forms a rich ecosystem of plants and animals. Torchlight Energy Resources must not drill there. The University of Texas Lands System must not allow them.

Is Obama’s Executive Order Amnesty Simply a Scheme to Boost Obamacare Enrollment Numbers?

According to the Obama administration, 7.3 million people are now enrolled in Obamacare, a disappointing number for the Democrat Party, who passed the unpopular bill without one Republican vote. Considering the latest data shows that a record 47 million Americans are now living without health insurance, Obamacare will continue to be a drag on the Democrats, and will prove a hindrance for the party in 2016.

Mr. Contradiction : Obstacle to Obama plan = His Own Statements…

President Obama is poised to ignore stark warnings that executive action on immigration would amount to “violating our laws” and would be “very difficult to defend legally.” -- Those warnings came not from Republican lawmakers but from Mr. Obama himself.

Russ Baker Interview: "The 'Double Government' Secret Gets Out", the Bush Dynasty and More

RB: Well, what I found is difficult to sum up in just a few sentences, because the facts are so incredibly disturbing, and run so counter to what we've been told up to this point. There's a fantasy in this country that our politicians, as occasionally criticized as they are, fundamentally are gentlemen and gentlewomen. We treat them like celebrities or royalty. But power accrual and wielding is an ugly business, more akin to other lines of work that are about ruthlessness. Anyway, handicapped by not being able to present my thousand-plus footnotes here, I'll just present a few particulars on the Bush clan:

-Bush 41, HW Bush, was in the secret employ of the intelligence services decades before he was appointed as a supposed newcomer, to the CIA directorship. Among other things, he was part of a group, inside and outside CIA, that felt threatened by JFK and furious at him. He hid the fact that he was in Dallas the day Kennedy was shot. He was a good friend of Lee Oswald's mentor. He was mentioned in FBI documents related to the assassination and to Cuban exiles who were enraged at Kennedy.

-He and his family were, secretly principal sponsors of Richard Nixon's career. But when Nixon tried to buck his handlers, they turned on him. The real story of Watergate is the framing of Nixon by others in the Republican camp.
